Oklahoma claims 12 all-Big 12 first, second-team members

Once again, the Sooners dominate the all-Big 12 teams.

12 Sooners were honored on the all-Big 12 first and second-teams. First team members include CeeDee Lamb, Jalen Hurts, Creed Humphrey and Kenneth Murray. Both Lamb and Muray landed on the first-team for their first time in their Oklahoma careers.

Kennedy Brooks, Jeremiah Hall, Adrian Ealy, Gabe Brkic, Neville Gallimore, Ronnie Perkins and Parnell Motley were all-Big 12 second-team honorees.

Other Sooners that picked up honorable mentions include Pat Fields, Reeves Mundschau, Jalen Redmond, Delarrin Turner-Yell and DaShaun White.

Oklahoma led the league in honorees followed by Baylor with 10, TCU (9), Iowa State (8), Oklahoma State (6), Kansas State, Texas Tech, West Virginia (5), Texas (4) and Kansas (2).

With not much surprise, both teams with the most Big 12 honorees are the teams playing for the Big 12 Championship and a possible College Football Playoff birth.

Oklahoma and Baylor will face off in a rematch following their thrilling 34-31 bout in November. Kickoff is set for 11a.m. CT on FOX.

Wind will play a factor in Oklahoma-Oklahoma State (Bedlam)

The iconic lyric from the Rogers and Hammerstein classic OKLAHOMA! will play true tonight between the state’s two biggest football programs.

Oklahoma! Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain!

According to the National Weather Service a hazardous weather outlook is currently in affect for the majority of Oklahoma due to strong westerly winds.

Air temperatures will be pleasant with a high of 62 and a low of 32. It will feel much colder with consistent winds of 15 to 25 mile per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour from the West and Northwest are expected throughout much of the state, putting Stillwater in the middle of the crosshairs.

Bedlam has had iconic weather games in it’s one hundred and thirteen editions, including the “Ice Bowl” in 1985. More recently in 2013, Bedlam was contested in a 12 degree air temp with a wind chill nearing below zero.

So far this season the Sooners have yet to have played in any abnormal weather that could heavily affect Oklahoma’s passing and kicking game. Coaches can simulate rain in practice by dunking balls into water before every snap, however they can’t simulate wind.

With any kick or long pass, the air may be taken out of Boone Pickens Stadium completely with the fans inside gasping while the ball is at the will of Mother Nature.

Sooners’ freshman kicker, Gabe Brkic is perfect so far on both PATs (41/41) and field goals (12/12) with the longest coming from 50 yards. Brkic has also booted 47 of 88 kickoffs for touchbacks.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State kickoff at 7 p.m. CT on FOX.
