Texas offers 2023 four-star ATH Jelani McDonald out of Waco

Texas is eyeing on a potential flip of the Oklahoma State commit.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff have extended an offer to four-star athlete Jelani McDonald. The Waco product is one of the quickest rising prospects in the class of 2023.

Texas has some ground to make up in this recruitment as McDonald verbally committed to Oklahoma State back in July.

247Sports’ composite rankings list McDonald as the No. 15 athlete and a top 300 player nationally.

McDonald is a true do-it-all player on the football field. He plays in all three phases of the game for Waco Connally High School. McDonald is the primary quarterback, defensive back and even serves as the team’s main punter.

He is a multi-sport star who excels on both the basketball court and the track.

Texas hopes to add McDonald to the visitor list for its matchup against Iowa State on Oct. 15. The Longhorns are looking to flip the four-star from Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma State.

Jelani McDonald’s Recruiting Profile

Texas set to host four-star ATH Kendrick Law for official visit

The Longhorns have caught the eye of the nation’s No. 1 athlete for the 2022 cycle.

Now that Texas’ coaching staff has nothing but free time on their hands, they have been hitting the recruiting trail harder than ever before.

The Longhorns have a prime opportunity to bring in prospects that are either in shock from a coaching change and reconsidering their recruitment, or players who are in the transfer portal. The staff has been touching bases with numerous recruits recently, and have even made headway with a couple.

The Longhorns are expected to host four-star athlete Kendrick Law on Friday in hopes of impressing him enough to join their already talented 2022 class.

Law measures in at 5-foot-11, 195-pounds and is rated the No. 1 athlete in the country for the 2022 cycle, according to 247Sports composite. In the state of Louisiana, he’s listed as the No. 3 overall prospect.

Although Law is listed as a versatile athlete, there have been reports that Texas is recruiting him as a safety. The Shreveport native has played on both sides of the ball for Captain Shreve High School, and is also being recruited as a receiver/running back by other schools.

He presents a player that can come in and make an impact on either side of the ball, and wherever he goes will need to determine his best fit.

His visit to Texas on Friday marks the second weekend in a row that Law will be in Austin, as he unofficially visited during the Kansas State game.

Four-star ATH Mikal Harrison-Pilot will be in attendance for Arkansas-Texas matchup

Four-star ATH Mikal Harrison-Pilot will be in attendance for Texas’ game at Arkansas.

The No. 15 Texas Longhorns are in Fayetteville to take on Arkansas in front of a sold-out crowd, and they will have a highly touted recruit making the trip to watch them.

Four-star athlete Mikal Harrison-Pilot announced via Twitter on Saturday that he will be in attendance for Texas’ matchup with Arkansas. The Temple, Texas native is the No. 11 athlete in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 18 overall prospect in the state according to 247Sports.

Harrison-Pilot is getting a two-for-one in attending this Week 2 matchup, as he currently holds scholarship offers from both the Longhorns and Razorbacks.

He’s a three-sport athlete at Temple High School and plays both sides of the ball on the football field. Harrison-Pilot played safety on varsity as a freshman and earned second-team all-district honors, and has also found success at the wide receiver position where he earned first-team all-district selection as a sophomore.

In 2020, he recorded 38 receptions for 502 yards and seven touchdowns.
