Floyd Mayweather’s NASCAR team gives update on plans for 2024 Daytona 500

Floyd Mayweather’s NASCAR team gives a big update on plans for the 2024 Daytona 500. Will Mayweather’s team be in The Great American Race?

[autotag]The Money Team Racing[/autotag] has only made six starts in the NASCAR Cup Series since the beginning of the 2022 season, but they are a notable group. The organization is led by Becky Auchmoody and her husband, Willy Auchmoody; however, [autotag]Floyd Mayweather Jr.[/autotag] is a major co-owner. Will Mayweather’s team race in the 2024 Daytona 500? There is now a firm answer.

According to Willy Auchmoody through TobyChristie.com, The Money Team Racing will not enter the 2024 Daytona 500 and look to begin its season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 3. Nothing else has been publicly announced regarding the driver, schedule, sponsor, or paint scheme for the 2024 NASCAR season.

Over the last two years, The Money Team Racing had Kaz Grala and Conor Daly as its drivers. Daly could be in line for some more starts in 2024, but Grala has 25 Cup Series races with Rick Ware Racing and one with Front Row Motorsports. It will be interesting to see which drivers Mayweather’s team can sign for 2024 and possibly beyond.

A huge brawl erupted after Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition against John Gotti III ended in disqualification

This was WILD.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is retired from boxing, but every once in awhile he hops in a ring for an exhibition bout to give fans a glimpse of the fighter who went 50-0 in his professional career.

That was the scene Sunday in Sunrise, Florida, when Mayweather was in the ring with John Gotti III and all hell broke loose in the middle of the sixth round. Apparently, the tactics Mayweather used to become an undefeated fighter were as sharp as ever because Gotti got himself disqualified for repeatedly grabbing.

Unsatisfied with the result, Gotti rushed past referee Kenny Bayless to throw more hands, which prompted each fighter’s team to rush the ring and turned into absolute chaos.

The best part of this whole thing is how calm Mayweather remained as a clearly irate Gotti rushed him. It’s almost as if they were fighting already and Mayweather knew there was nothing to worry about.

It’s especially impressive considering Mayweather, 46, is 16 years the senior of Gotti, whose name sounds familiar because he’s the grandson of an infamous New York mobster.

Gotti is 2-0 in his professional career and also has a 5-1 pro MMA record.

Floyd Mayweather joined a growing list of potential owners for an NBA expansion team

Things are heating up in Las Vegas for the NBA

With the NBA season in its final week, the topics to entertain basketball fans have slowly dwindled. Once either Stephen Curry and the Warriors finish off the Celtics in the coming days, or the Celtics have enough luck left in the tank to hand Golden State another devastating loss, the book should be closed on all things NBA for a while.

Well, it should be, but we know that won’t be the case. The NBA offseason has its usual headline-encompassing events such as free agency, the draft and the summer league. But it appears that the surprise that might contend for some off-season headlines is talk of NBA expansion.

Professional boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, is the latest sports figure to express interest in an NBA expansion team in Las Vegas.

Boxing insider, Sam Gordon, of the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote about Mayweather’s recent pursuit to own an NBA team.

“Me and my team have been working behind the scenes with the NBA. I can’t say exactly where, but I’m working on getting a team.”

Mayweather is a Grand Rapids native but his home for the last several years has been Las Vegas. It very much makes sense that he is prioritizing owning an expansion team that could end up in the City of Sin.

But the ball doesn’t stop rolling there. Earlier this week, LeBron James mentioned on his HBO show The Shop how he eventually wants to pursue ownership of an eventual NBA team in Las Vegas —Bet For The Win’s own Prince Grimes broke that down here.

Per Grimes:

“James is part of Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox among other properties, and reportedly has interest in a Vegas NBA team. An NBA spokesperson denied the report at the time, but the mayor of Las Vegas confirmed the city’s interest in an NBA team and having been in communication with commissioner Adam Silver.”

Stay tuned.

No, Vikings shouldn’t sign Antonio Brown, even with Floyd Mayweather warranty

Should be an easy no for the Vikings

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. is issuing an impressive offer to all NFL teams: Sign Antonio Brown for $20 million, and if he fails to make it through the entire season without issue, the team will be fully reimbursed.

That might be a fun venture for some other desperate team throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, but for first-year general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and first-year head coach Kevin O’Connell, it’s an unnecessary headache with possibly catastrophic consequences.

It doesn’t need to be said because the entire scenario sounds completely ludicrous. But I’m still saying it anyway: terrible idea!

Imagine the backlash Adofo-Mensah would face for bringing in the same guy that stripped shirtless in the middle of a game against the New York Jets with Tom Brady as his quarterback.

If he acted like that when catching passes from Brady, a few games with Kirk Cousins under center, and he’d be running around the field in his drawers.

Vikings fans don’t need to see that when things are finally moving in a positive direction. The old guard with Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman is gone, and the team is stuck in between an actual turnaround and being too naïve to know they’re about to fall flat on their face, again.

Whatever the case may be, it sure beats that same old feeling of mediocrity.

The Vikings are good with Justin Jefferson as their No. 1 receiving option. Adam Thielen is aging but still incredibly reliable. And K.J. Osborn is a talented up-and-comer that doesn’t need his snaps cut for an Avengers-like experiment at the receiver position.

Wherever Brown goes in the NFL, chaos seems to follow. The sad part is he’s still one of the best receivers in football, period. When it comes to perfecting his craft, no one works harder than Brown on and off the football field.

It’s everything else that comes with him that’s the problem. That isn’t to say no team will or even should be in the business of signing a man who referred to himself as “Mr. Big Chest” when he was still with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He somehow went from that to walking out on his Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates, bare-chested.

Surely, an analytical mind like Adofo-Mensah would laugh off the mere thought of Brown joining the Vikings. But Brown’s elite talent and the fact that the Vikings are obviously in a win-now mode makes you wonder if there’s a Lloyd Christmas one-in-a-million chance.

Let’s hope not.

Brooks Koepka celebrates The Match win with Floyd Mayweather Jr., meets Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski

Coach K to Brooks: “You don’t know, but I love you.”

Brooks Koepka had quite the night after dominating Bryson DeChambeau in The Match.

Most of his Friday night will most likely remain silent under the guise of, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” but fans did see Koepka sitting courtside along with boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. at T-Mobile Arena to watch No. 1 Gonzaga vs. No. 5 Duke.

After the Blue Devils took down the zags, 84-81, retiring head coach Mike Krzyzewski said the following to Koepka: “You don’t know, but I love you. No, I do, and I was cheering for you, and I thought you handled yourself well.”

Talk about high praise.

Video: The defensive genius of Floyd Mayweather

This video, courtesy of DAZN, provides highlights of Mayweather’s career that illustrate his uncanny ability to hit and not be hit.

The shoulder roll.

It was the bane of Floyd Mayweather’s frustrated opponents, who found it next to impossible to hit the never-beaten future Hall of Famer with any consistency.

It wasn’t all Mayweather’s signature move, though. It was anticipation, knowing when and from where punches would come. It was reflexes, the ability to react when he saw a shot coming. It was remarkable quickness.

All of the above made Mayweather arguably the greatest defensive fighter of all time.

Floyd Mayweather promises to be ‘one of best trainers in world’

The recent passing of Roger Mayweather has inspired his nephew, Floyd Mayweather, to give back by becoming a trainer.

The recent passing of Roger Mayweather has inspired his nephew to follow a new path.

Floyd Mayweather apparently is a trainer now.

The future Hall of Famer posted on Instagram a video of himself working with his own nephew and included his thoughts on giving back to young fighters the sort of wisdom he gleaned from Roger and his father.

“In a time where we must distance ourselves from others,” he wrote, “it has allowed me to reflect on how I want to make a difference in people lives and help them achieve their goals. A true trainer wants the best out of their fighter and pushes them to the best of their abilities.

“I want to leave an impression on those around me and allow them to see their potential.”

This is my first day working with my 14yr old nephew @slugboi.chris who has absolutely NO boxing experience at all, and this is my second time doing mitt work. The first time was with my oldest son @kingkoraun which you may have seen I recently posted. As many of you know, I've had incredible trainers which included my dad and uncle. Due to the recent passing of my Uncle Roger, I’ve felt inspired to help those around me the same way they have been there for me throughout my boxing career. In a time where we must distance ourselves from others, it has allowed me to reflect on how I want to make a difference in people lives and help them achieve their goals. A true trainer wants the best out of their fighter and pushes them to the best of their abilities. I am new to helping people train as I’ve always been on the other side of the mitts. A fighter could be impressive at mitt work but it doesn’t make him a great fighter. A trainer could be impressive on the mitts but it doesn’t make him a great trainer. It has become a goal of mine to help others reach the best versions of themselves and walk with it in confidence. I want to leave an impression on those around me and allow them to see their potential. This quarantine period has allowed me to see the importance of unity and helping others grow. I want to do my part on this Earth and allow people to see the potential in themselves so that they can share it with the world. I am new at training and so far I've been working with people with no boxing experience, therefore we are growing together. But I promise you, I will be one of the best trainers in the world. Inspire and be inspired… 🎥 @tmtbside7

Mayweather acknowledged that he’s at the beginning of the learning curve but, no surprise given his confidence, he expects to excel.

“I am new at training and so far I’ve been working with people with no boxing experience, therefore we are growing together. But I promise you, I will be one of the best trainers in the world.”

Roger Mayweather and Floyd Mayweather Sr. both were fighters who became accomplished trainers.
