Seahawks QB Russell Wilson says he’s ‘ready to roll and ready to go’

Ahead of the Week 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson says he’s “ready to roll and ready to go.”

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is relieved to be finally back in action. Wilson missed the last three games after injuring the middle finger on his throwing hand. The original prognosis was for a 6-8 week recovery after surgery but there was no way Wilson was going to miss that much time.

I don’t think I’ve ever gone three or four weeks without throwing a football.,” Wilson told reporters on Thursday. “The thing that was really critical in the process was that we never stopped doing the work. I was always lifting, I was always moving, I was always preparing my mind, I was visualizing every rep, every defender, where people would be, so that was a big part of it. I kept my conditioning up and all of that so that was big a part of it.”

Wilson hasn’t officially been activated back to the 53-man roster, but everything points towards his staring in Green Bay on Sunday.

“I feel great, I feel really close – I’m not 100%, but I’m pretty dang close,” Wilson said. “I’m in the 90 percentile, if not higher. I feel great, I have great conviction about what I am doing and how I am doing it, my mindset is better than ever, I’m ready to roll and ready to go.”

Quarterback Russell Wilson is Seahawks’ winning factor

The Seattle Seahawks have lost their last three outings without quarterback Russell Wilson at the helm; he’s truly the team’s winning factor.

The Seattle Seahawks lost their last three games – all in primetime – and all three contests had one very important similarity . . .  no Russell Wilson. Seattle’s starting quarterback has been sidelined for the last three weeks after injuring the finger on his throwing hand in the Thursday night loss to the Rams.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll knows just how important Wilson really is to the game plan overall.

“Let’s say it this way, I’ve been here a long time, and if we didn’t have Russell, I probably wouldn’t have been here a long time,” Carroll said Monday night. “Because think of all the magic that he’s created in the years. He’s got numbers and stats, and fourth quarters, thises and thats, and all of that stuff.

“One of the winningest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.”

Backup quarterback Geno Smith has been giving it his all these last three outings, but it’s becoming more and more obvious just what Seattle needs to find a way to win.

“You know, Russell’s a factor,” Carroll explained. “He’s a fantastic, positive factor and always has been. And, I mean, those were exactly his time. That’s his time. That’s when he shines. And so, we miss him. And in the meantime, we’re going to keep fighting and clawing, and doing everything we can.”

Steven Adams’ double-double not enough a 76ers snap OKC’s win streak

Steven Adams scored a season-high 24 points to go along with 15 rebounds, but the Thunder fell to Philadelphia 120-113 on Monday night.

The win streak is over as Philadelphia topped the Thunder on Monday night, 120-113.

Steven Adams led the way for Oklahoma City with a double-double. He scored a season-high 24 points to go along with 15 rebounds.

Four other Thunder players were in double-digits. Dennis Schroder came off the bench to score 21, the 18th time this year he’s scored 20 or more points when not in the starting lineup. Danilo Gallinari and Chris Paul both had 18, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander chipped in 14.

Oklahoma City could not overcome a balanced attack from the 76ers, who shot 51.1% from the floor and had six players in double-digits. Philadelphia also shot 50% from the three-point line.

The Thunder have been one of the hottest teams in the league, due in part to their recent success in close games.

Monday night’s contest was a two-possession game coming into the fourth quarter, but as noted by Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman, OKC got within two seven different times in the final frame, but could not tie or take the lead.

Joel Embiid suffered a gruesome finger injury late in the first quarter when he dislocated the ring finger on his left hand in what looked to be a freak accident.

He was treated and taped and did return to score 18 points and grab nine rebounds.

Oklahoma City will look to bounce back when they continue their road trip on Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
