Packers get TE Dalton Kincaid in Daniel Jeremiah’s final 2023 mock draft

The Packers got Utah TE Dalton Kincaid in Daniel Jeremiah’s final 2023 mock draft for NFL Network.

A review and breakdown of predictions for the Green Bay Packers in final 2023 mock drafts from a few of the most prominent analysts in the business:

The mock draft: Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com

The pick:ย TE Dalton Kincaid, Utah

The reasoning: “Green Bay could weigh Kincaid versus Ohio Stateโ€™s Jaxon Smith-Njigba here. I think Kincaid is a perfect fit in this offense, and the Packers could circle back for a receiver later, which has generally been their preferred approach at the position. They havenโ€™t picked a WR in Round 1 since 2002.”

Our breakdown:ย Kincaid has a strong case for being the top receiving threat at tight end and maybe even the top player among all pass-catchers in the draft class. He’d fit an immediate need at tight end and give Jordan Love a dangerous weapon in the passing game, especially from the slot. Many see Kincaid (35 career touchdown catches) as a Zach Ertz type at the next level. However, would the Packers take a smaller tight end who turns 24 as a rookie and is both lacking an athletic testing profile and coming off a back injury with the 13th overall pick? It’d be a big risk, but the payoff could be huge if Kincaid emerges as a high-production player at a position where the difference between good and elite can be so valuable. The Packers had Kincaid in for a pre-draft visit.

FINAL: Alabama grabs 8-point victory on the road against Auburn

Auburn led for the majority of the game, but Alabama’s depth caught up to the Tigers. The Tide battled to earn a 8-point victory atop the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 3-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon, 77-69. The game was tightly contested for the majority of the game, but Alabama pulled away at the end.

Despite a large disparity at the free throw line, the Crimson Tide were able to make enough shots in the end. Alabama was led offensively by Mark Sears, Jaden Bradley, and Rylan Griffen. The three guards combined to score 43 of Alabama’s 77 points. That is over 50% of the points that came from Alabama’s backcourt.

On the defensive end, Charles Bediako played a key part in slowing down Auburn center Johni Broome. Broome finished the game with just eight points. The Crimson Tide struggled to contain point guard Wendell Green Jr. He finished with 24 points.

Alabama improves to 12-0 in the conference and 22-3 on the season. Nate Oats’ squad will return to action on Wednesday night against Tennessee. The game will be played at Thompson-Boling Arena at 7 ET/6 CT and televised on ESPN2.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama men’s basketball program.

Friday injury report for Chiefs vs. Eagles, Super Bowl LVII bye week

Our third injury reports for the Super Bowl LVII bye week from the #Chiefs and #Eagles:

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have released their third injury reports ahead of Super Bowl LVII during the bye week. Kansas City had its most intensive practice of the week, while Philadelphia held its first non-walkthrough practice of the week. The first injury report for next week will come on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Here’s a look at the most recent injury reports for both teams down below:

Saints sack the Browns, keep their playoff hopes alive another day

The Saints got out of their own way long enough to eliminate the Browns from playoff contention, keeping their own postseason hopes alive another day:

Well how about that? The New Orleans Saints got out of their own way long enough to outlast the Cleveland Browns in the wind and snow, leaving town with a 17-10 win. It’s the second time Dennis Allen has won consecutive games in his 51-game career as a head coach, and the Saints made it a lot harder than it needed to be, but we’ll take it. A win is a win.

The Saints improved to 6-9 on the season and remain in the thick of the NFC South title race. They’re safe from playoff elimination for another week, leaving fans free to enjoy the holiday weekend. Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating.

New Orleans pivoted to more of a run-based attack in the second half, finishing the day with 152 rushing yards as a team — led by running back Alvin Kamara (20 carries for 76 yards) and tight end Taysom Hill (9 carries for 56 yards), both of whom scored second-half touchdown runs. Quarterback Andy Dalton dealt with some drops by his receivers (one of which was intercepted) and fumbled a pair of snap exchanges in the freezing conditions, ending the game with just 92 passing yards. But he avoided sacks, didn’t turn the ball over on his own account, and it was enough to win the day.

The Saints defense bottled up Deshaun Watson and the Browns passing attack well, given an assist from the weather. Watson only completed 15 of his 31 pass attempts for 135 yards with his own pass deflection-turned-interception, and he was sacked twice on the afternoon. Most critically he took a sack on Cleveland’s last play of the game facing fourth down just outside of the end zone. Good on Saints defensive end Carl Granderson for the heady play.

Things are far from settled. The Saints are still ranked third in the division title race. They could have lost it to a more competent opponent, but the Browns tripped over themselves by stubbornly asking Watson to throw into the wind rather than leaning harder on their superstar running back Nick Chubb.

But, hey: a win is a win. We’ll take it, and so will the Saints. There will be plenty of time to look back on this game more critically in the days ahead.

Packers final injury report of Week 13 vs. Bears

The Packers ruled out one player and listed one as doubtful and two as questionable on the final injury report before Week 13 vs. the Bears.

The Green Bay Packers gave injury designations to four players on the final injury report of Week 13 on Friday.

The Packers ruled out one player for Sunday against the Chicago Bears:

โ€“ Left tackle David Bakhtiari (appendectomy)

Bakhtiari needed surgery this week to repair the issue (which has nothing to do with his knee) and will miss this week. Rookie Zach Tom could take his place as the starter at left tackle.

The one player doubtful to play:

โ€“ Safety Darnell Savage (foot)

Savage was injured in Philadelphia last week and didn’t practice on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. He was demoted at safety and as the slot corner against the Eagles, leaving more snaps for Rudy Ford (safety) and Keisean Nixon (slot).

The two players questionable to play:

โ€“ Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (knee)
โ€“ Wide receiver Romeo Doubs (ankle)

Both starters could return after multi-week absences. They each practiced in a limited capacity this week but will be game-time decisions. Campbell, an All-Pro last year, hasn’t played since Week 8 in Buffalo. Doubs hasn’t played since the first play of Week 9 in Detroit.

Inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.

The Bears ruled out safety Jaquan Brisker, offensive tackle Larry Borom, cornerback Kyler Gordon and quarterback Trevor Siemian and listed cornerback Kindle Vildor and offensive tackle Riley Reiff as questionable. The Bears also did not list a designation for quarterback Justin Fields on the final injury report, meaning he’ll start.

Final injury report for Chiefs vs. Bengals, Week 13

The final injury report for the #Chiefs vs. #Bengals Week 13 game is here, complete with game status designations.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals released their third and final injury reports of the week on Friday. You can find the injury reports from earlier this week here: Wednesdayย โ€”ย Thursday.

Check out the injury report for each team, complete with game status designations, down below:

Packers final injury report of Week 12 vs. Eagles

The Packers ruled out one player and listed one as doubtful and two as questionable on the final injury report before Week 12 vs. the Eagles.

The Green Bay Packers gave injury designations to four players on the final injury report of Week 12 on Friday.

The Packers ruled out one player for Sunday night:

โ€“ Wide receiver Romeo Doubs (ankle)

This will be Doubs’ third-straight game missed. He injured his ankle against the Lions at Ford Field. The Packers are otherwise healthy at receiver.

The one player doubtful to play:

โ€“ Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (knee)

Campbell returned to practice in a limited capacity on Friday for the first time since injuring his knee in Buffalo, but he’s still a long shot to play Sunday.

The two players questionable to play:

โ€“ Left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee)
โ€“ Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle)

Bakhtiari will be questionable every week the rest of the way but should play. Jean-Charles has a chance to return after missing three games with an ankle injury.

Inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday night.

The Eagles did not have a player with an injury designation on the final injury report on Friday.

Packers final injury report of Week 11 vs. Titans

The Packers ruled out two players and listed one as doubtful and two as questionable on the final injury report before Week 11 vs. the Titans.

The Green Bay Packers gave injury designations to five players on the final injury report of Week 11 on Wednesday.

The two players ruled out for Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans:

โ€“ Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (knee)
โ€“ Wide receiver Romeo Doubs (ankle)

Campbell will miss his third straight game after initially suffering a knee injury in Buffalo. Doubs will miss his second straight game after injuring his ankle in Detroit.

The one player doubtful to play:

โ€“ Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle)

Jean-Charles was a limited participant on Wednesday, which keeps the door at least slightly ajar for him to return from an ankle injury against the Titans. He is primarily a special teams player.

The two players questionable to play:

โ€“ Left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee)
โ€“ Left guard Elgton Jenkins (knee)

Bakhtiari will be questionable every week from here on out. Neither Bakhtiari nor Jenkins practiced in any capacity this week, but the expectation is that both will play.

Inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff on Thursday night.

The Titans ruled out five players (center Ben Jones, edge rusher Bud Dupree, kicker Randy Bullock, safety Amani Hooker, defensive back Lonnie Johnson) and listed two as questionable (defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, defensive back Elijah Molden).

Packers final injury report of Week 10 vs. Cowboys

The Packers ruled out four players and listed one as doubtful and two as questionable on the final injury report before Week 10 vs. the Cowboys.

The Green Bay Packers gave injury designations to seven players on the final injury report of Week 10 on Friday.

The four players ruled out for Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys:

โ€“ Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (knee)
โ€“ Wide receiver Romeo Doubs (ankle)
โ€“ Cornerback Eric Stokes (ankle/knee)
โ€“ Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle)

Campbell will miss his second straight game after injuring his knee in Buffalo. Expect more snaps for Isaiah McDuffie, who played well in his absence in Detroit. Doubs and Stokes could both be placed on injured reserve on Saturday given the nature of their respective injuries. Jean-Charles will miss a third straight game.

The one player doubtful to play:

โ€“ Linebacker Krys Barnes (concussion)

Barnes, in his first game back from injured reserve, suffered a head injury while making a tackle against the Lions in the second half. Eric Wilson would be the top backup at linebacker on Sunday, and a roster move might need to be made to improve the short-term depth here.

The two players questionable to play:

โ€“ Left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee)
โ€“ Wide receiver Amari Rodgers (quad)

Bakhtiari can be safely considered questionable for every game from here on out. Rookie Zach Tom is the top backup at left tackle. Rodgers was a late add to the injury report on Friday with a new injury. His questionable availability could mean the Packers bring up a receiver from the practice squad at some point before Sunday.

Inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday.

The Cowboys ruled out one player (linebacker Anthony Barr) and listed one as questionable (running back Ezekiel Elliott).

Notre Dame 35, No. 4 Clemson 14: Numbers that told the story

This game wasn’t as close as the 35-14 final score indicates. Really, it wasn’t.

Notre Dame played far and away their best game of the 2022 season Saturday night as they destroyed No. 4 Clemson 35-14.ย  The win officially makes Notre Dame bowl eligible as dates with Navy, Boston College, and USC remain before the season’s end.

Notre Dame clearly dominated on the scoreboard but how much did they really dominate this game?ย  I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn when I say the final score was closer than the actual game.ย  Notre Dame kicked the living stink out of Clemson, something Dabo Swinney even admitted after the contest.

Just how bad, or in Notre Dame’s case good, was it?ย  Here are a handful of numbers that tell the story.
