College basketball’s main event has finally arrived.

Texas enters the NCAA Tournament as a No. 3 seed fresh off of a Big 12 Championship. Head coach Shaka Smart has gotten the most out of his players over the past two weeks that resulted in a five-game win streak. Saturday’s win over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game remains to be the most impressive.

In the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports, the Longhorns were rewarded with a top 10 spot. They shot up seven ranks to No. 9 in the poll. Baylor (No. 3) proves to be the only other Big 12 foe ahead of them due to their 21-1 regular-season record.

Oklahoma was the sole team to drop out of the poll after their conference tournament loss to Kansas. The Sooners have now lost six out of their last seven and will head to Indianapolis ice cold.

Kansas (No. 11), Oklahoma State (No. 12), West Virginia (No. 13), and Texas Tech (No. 21) round out Big 12 teams in the poll. Seven conference teams will be in the NCAA Tournament, tied for the second-most in the country.

Just one week ago, the LSU Tigers were coming off two straight losses and did not receive a vote in the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.

However, last week was a good week for LSU. The Tigers picked up two consecutive wins over Vanderbilt and Missouri to finish the regular season with a 16-8 record.

LSU’s strong finish bodes well for its NCAA Tournament chances as the Tigers are a strong bet for the field of 68.

Did the Tigers’ strong week help them in the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll?

Unfortunately, it did not, as LSU did not receive a vote for the poll for the second week in a row.

Next up for the Tigers is the SEC Tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday. As the No. 3 seed, LSU doesn’t begin play until Friday where it will meet the winner of Ole Miss and South Carolina.

[jwplayer idZ6VNXL-PROpJzTY]

The LSU Tigers continued their strong play last week, picking up a third straight win in convincing fashion, defeating the Auburn Tigers, 104-80, on Saturday in Baton Rouge.

LSU improved to 14-6 on the season and 9-4 in SEC play.

Was the win enough for LSU to be ranked in the latest Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports?

The LSU men’s basketball team was struggling one week ago, losing four out of its previous five games. The skid placed the Tigers squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

One week — and two games later — LSU coach Will Wade has his team back on track as the Tigers picked up two critical victories, including a dominant win over then-No. 16 Tennessee on Saturday in Baton Rouge.

While that progress isn’t quite enough for the Tigers to appear in the latest Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, LSU did pick up 12 votes this week, up from four last week.

The top of the new poll remains largely unchanged with Gonzaga, Baylor, and Michigan representing the top three. Ohio State moves up one spot to No. 4, while Illinois moves into the No. 5 position.

LSU picks up scraps of votes in latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

LSU has been sliding lately but the Tigers are still picking up a few points in the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll

[jwplayer Hr8nYVgS]

The LSU basketball season has been trending in the wrong direction, but the Tigers are still holding to a small number of votes in the latest Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.

After dropping four of their last five game splayed, and having a weekend matchup with Florida postponed due to COVID-19 protocols, LSU is near the bottom of the pile of the Others Receiving Votes category in the updated coaches poll this week.

While LSU may be struggling just to gain any recognition from the coaches poll, a number of SEC teams are among the top 25 this week. Missouri moved up seven spots in the poll this week to climb into the top-10. Missouri passed No. 11 Alabama, with the Crimson Tide dropping four spots after dropping a close call against Missouri over the weekend. Tennessee is the only other SEC team ranked in the top 25 of the coaches poll this week. The Floria Gators fell just out of the poll this week

LSU men’s basketball 2020-2021 roster: looking into the lineup

Where is LSU in the Week 9 Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll?

The LSU basketball program suffered two losses last week to fall to 10-5 on the season. LSU remains out of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

LSU basketball suffered two losses last week to Alabama and Kentucky.

The Tigers entered last week with a 10-3 record, but are now 10-5 entering Week 10 of the college basketball season.

The 30 point loss to Alabama was disheartening as the Tigers allowed the Crimson Tide to hit 23 three point attempts, which set a program and an SEC record.

Against Kentucky, LSU fell behind early on and never was able to catch the Wildcats. While Kentucky has been a struggling team, the Wildcats have begun to play well in SEC play.

[lawrence-related id=15320]

For the Tigers, the program’s solid start had to come to a downfall at some point. But, no one expected the team to get blown out at home by a sharp shooting Alabama team the way LSU did.

Last week, LSU was receiving votes in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll. But with the two losses, the Tigers are yet again out of the picture.

Here is the Week 9 rankings for the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll.

  1. Gonzaga (15-0)
  2. Baylor (14-0)
  3. Villanova (10-1)
