Prediction

Magic 112, Grizzlies 107

Moneyline (ML)

The MAGIC (+125) are the value play in this one. These teams met back on Nov. 8 with Orlando winning by a 118-86 score. The Grizzlies (-150) look for revenge, but both teams have been hot lately, and the better value is taking Orlando at plus-money.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Magic returns a profit of $12.50 if they win. A $10 bet on the Grizzlies returns a profit of $6.70.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The MAGIC (+2.5, -106) give you a little bit of insurance if you’re feeling the Grizzlies (-2.5, -115) are going to win by a narrow margin. Orlando has covered in six straight games, and seven of the past eight games overall. The Magic are also 4-0 in their past four games as an underdog. The Grizzlies are also hot against the number, going 6-1 ATS in their past seven at home, but remember the November meeting.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total (220.5) is a risky play in this one, as the trends are skewed heavily in opposite directions. For instance, the Over is 12-3-1 in Orlando’s past 16, and 5-0 in its past five as an underdog while going 11-0-1 in the past 12 following a cover. The Under is 11-0 in the past 11 home games for Memphis, while going 6-0 in its past six overall and 5-1 in the past six as a favorite. The best course of action is to AVOID.

Lakers at Grizzlies: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:50 a.m. E.T.

Prediction

Lakers 118, Grizzlies 109

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers (-385) are road moneyline favorites over the Grizzlies (+290) on Saturday night. Los Angeles is in the middle of another hot-streak as they have won seven-straight games with their last loss on February 6 against the Rockets. Memphis is trending in the opposite direction, losing five-straight games. While it would appear the Lakers are the easy pick here, PASS on this chalky moneyline in favor of the point spread.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The LAKERS -8.5 (-106) are less than double-digit favorites over the Grizzlies on Saturday night. Los Angeles has been fantastic against the spread while on the road this season, covering in 16 of 29 games. They are also an incredible 39-11 straight up as the favorite this season. Meanwhile, Memphis has failed to cover in five-straight games. Despite the big spread, take the Lakers to cover this spread at the FedEx Forum on Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Western Conference matchup is set at 226.5 points, which feels just about right considering both teams have better than average offenses. The Lakers are averaging nearly 115 points per game this season and have scored under that just once in their last seven games. It’s also worth noting that Memphis’ defense is one of the worst in the NBA, allowing over 115 points per game this season. Expect the OVER (-110) to hit on Saturday night.

Prediction

Grizzlies 125, Pistons 108

Moneyline (ML)

The Grizzlies (-357) are a little more expensive than I like on the moneyline, even though they’re a solid play at home against a team which just played Sunday afternoon and had to travel. AVOID.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES (-7.5, -110) are the play on their home floor, as the Pistons (+7.5, -110) should have some tired legs after edging the Denver Nuggets in overtime back in Detroit Sunday afternoon before traveling. Look for Memphis to handle its business at home and bounce back after a disappointing loss last time out in New Orleans Friday.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 227.5 (-110) is worth a look due to a handful of factors. First, the Pistons traveled after going to overtime Sunday afternoon against the Nuggets. Their legs should be plenty tired, leading to some shaky defense. Plus, these teams may or may not have enjoyed some Super Bowl festivities on television, and don’t think that won’t play a factor in their energy level on defense, too.

Prediction

Grizzlies 111, Nuggets 107

Moneyline (ML)

The GRIZZLIES (-106) are short dogs at home in a battle of red-hot teams. The Nuggets (-115) are slightly favored but roll with the Grizz on their home floor, as they have really been playing well lately, winning 10 of their past 12 games overall.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES (+1.5, -115) are a little more expensive catching a point and a half, but if you like the Grizz, the way to go is on the moneyline at a cheaper price. If you like the Nuggets (-1.5, -106) then you’ll want to lay the points instead of betting the moneyline favorite.

Denver has won each of the two meetings this season, and it has won four in a row against Memphis; however, the Grizzlies are 9-3 ATS in their past 12 at home and 8-3 ATS in the past 11 overall while going 3-1-1 ATS in the previous five against winning teams. Plus, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in the past five trips to Memphis.

Over/Under (O/U)

The trends for both sides show the UNDER 224.5 (-106) is the way to go. The Under has connected in five straight at home for the Grizzlies, and six of the past seven overall. The Under is also 9-3 in their past 12 games against winning teams.

For the Nuggets, the Under is 4-1 in their past five on the road, and 7-3 in their past 10 games overall. The Under is also 4-1 in the past five meetings in Memphis and 7-3 in the past 10 meetings in this series.

Prediction

Rockets 128, Grizzlies 125

Moneyline (ML)

The 2019-20 Grizzlies are ballin’. They’ve won seven of their last 10 games, including five in a row. But the news is getting around the NBA that the Grizzlies are for real and it’s hard for them to sneak up on the current Western Conference 4-seed Rockets. A Houston squad that has played well recently as well—the Rockets are 7-3 straight up in their last 10 games.

Houston wins as away favorites, 9-5 straight up, but not against the bookmakers’ numbers, 5-9 against the spread. I do like the Rockets to win this game outright against the Grizzlies—watch for Harden to go off with Westbrook out and amidst legitimate hype about rookie PG Ja Morant—but the Rockets’ -209 moneyline is junk value.

PASS ON THE MONEYLINE.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Rockets -4.5 haven’t been money on the road as of late:  they are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Furthermore, the Rockets have a 1-3 record when laying 3-4.5 points whereas the Grizzlies are 4-2 when getting 3-4.5 points. The motivation of the young Grizzlies will keep this one close.

BET GRIZZLIES +4.5 (-106).

Over/Under (O/U)

Holy smokes, the 240.5 total is through the roof. Too high? Nah, let’s back that both teams get buckets and play mediocre, at best, defense. Houston is ranked first in points per game and Memphis ranks eighth, but Houston is ranked 15th in defensive rating and Memphis 22nd. Also, both teams play at a frenetic pace—Rockets are ranked second and the Grizzlies third in Pace.

The Grizzlies games tend to go Over. They have a 22-18 over/under record, and even though the Rockets games have gone Under a lot this season—17-21 over/under record—I envision a high scoring game with the Grizzlies keeping up with the explosive Rockets.

TAKE OVER 240.5 (-115).
