FedEx won’t return as sponsor for Denny Hamlin, Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025

FedEx won’t return as a sponsor for Denny Hamlin and Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025, ending a 19-year run on the No. 11 car.

[autotag]Denny Hamlin[/autotag]’s long journey with [autotag]FedEx[/autotag] has concluded at the end of the 2024 NASCAR season. Ahead of the season finale at Phoenix Raceway, Hamlin posted a “thank you” video to FedEx on social media. Then, the driver of the No. 11 car confirmed after the race at Phoenix that FedEx will not return as a sponsor in 2025.

This marks another sponsorship loss for [autotag]Joe Gibbs Racing[/autotag], which saw Mars leave Kyle Busch after the 2022 NASCAR season. FedEx has been with Hamlin for 19 years and has been a steady, full-season sponsor throughout his career. However, the company’s presence on the No. 11 car has dwindled over the last few years, with 2024 being the most noticeable.

Now, FedEx won’t be on Hamlin’s race car moving forward, but it doesn’t mean the relationship between the two sides will come to an end. For now, Joe Gibbs Racing must focus on acquiring more sponsorship for Hamlin and the No. 11 car in 2025. The race at Phoenix marked the end of an era for Hamlin, but it will also be a new beginning for other companies.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels wins two more awards

The awards keep coming in for Jayden Daniels.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels better have a large trophy case. Daniels led Washington to a 42-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4 to improve to 3-1. Daniels was phenomenal again, completing 26 of 30 passes for 233 yards with a touchdown and interception. Daniels also rushed for his fourth touchdown of the season.

Daniels’ latest performance has earned him more national recognition. For Week 4, he was named the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week.

Daniels was the NFL Offensive Player of the Week last week and has twice been named the Rookie of the Week.

But the awards didn’t stop there for Daniels. Daniels was also named the Nickelodeon Player of the Week. And his teammates shared in the fun.

Daniels’ offensive line “slimed” him for winning the award, but he had the opportunity to return the favor.

Here’s proof of the “sliming.”

You can see Washington’s camaraderie in full display here.

Panthers QB Andy Dalton named FedEx Player of the Week

Panthers QB Andy Dalton delivered in his first start of 2024.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton delivered in his very first start of the 2024 campaign.

The 36-year-old has been voted as one of Week 3’s two FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week for his stunning performance from this past Sunday’s upset victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. He completed 27 of his 36 throws for 319 yards and three touchdowns in the 36-22 win.

Dalton spoke about his triumphant outing after the game, his first since replacing struggling second-year quarterback Bryce Young as the team’s starter.

“It felt great,” he told reporters on Sunday. “For me to get the opportunity to be out there and for it to go the way it did, couldn’t have drawn it up any better. I thought our guys came out with the right attitude, the right mentality from the start, and we never slowed down. And that was the fun part about it. We didn’t just put one drive together, we were able to do it the whole game.”

Not a single NFL quarterback threw for both 300 yards and three touchdowns in a game this season prior to Dalton’s efforts.

Bryce Young nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week

For the first time in his career, Panthers QB Bryce Young has been nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week.

After 15 weeks of a rough rookie season, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young finally delivered a box-score beauty. And now, you can deliver for him.

As announced on Tuesday morning, Young has been nominated for the Christmas weekend’s edition FedEx Air Player of the Week. The nomination is the first of the 22-year-old’s NFL career.

Young earned consideration following his most productive performance of the campaign. The No. 1 overall pick completed 23 of his 36 passing attempts for a career-high 312 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. His 8.7 yards per attempt and 110.0 passer rating from Week 16 also stand as new bests.

The youngster shares the chance at this week’s honor with a pair of veterans in 38-year-old Joe Flacco and 35-year-old Matthew Stafford. Flacco connected 27 of his 42 throws for 368 yards and three touchdowns while Stafford hit on 24 of his 34 tries for 328 yards and a pair of scores.

In a related note, on the flip side of the ballot sits Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones—who has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Jones paced the Packers to their 33-30 win over the Panthers with a season-high 127 yards on 21 carries.

You can vote for Young (and Jones, if you want) here.

Packers QB Jordan Love nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week in Week 11

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is one of three nominees for the FedEx Air Player of the Week after completing 27 passes for a career-high 322 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Love is up against Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy for the weekly award.

Love’s 27 completions and 322 yards are currently the fourth-most by a quarterback in Week 11. He and Purdy were the only two quarterbacks to throw for at least 300 yards, multiple touchdowns and zero interceptions.

While Love had a career-best day, it might be hard to beat Purdy, who finished with 333 passing yards, three touchdown passes, zero interceptions and a perfect 158.3 passer rating during the 49ers’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fans can vote on the winners for the Air Player of the Week and Ground Player of the Week here.

No Packers quarterback has won FedEx Air Player of the Week since Aaron Rodgers in 2018, although Rodgers was the Air Player of the Year in 2020.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes wins the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week award

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes wins the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week award

The Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes adds another honor to his career trophy case as he was named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week.

Mahomes won for his impressive performance, completing 32 of 42 attempts (76.2 percent) for 424 yards and four touchdowns for a 129.5 passer rating in the Week 7 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. After winning the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week Award, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in the reigning league MVP’s name to a Historically Black College or University, which will apply towards needs-based scholarships to deserving HBCU students.

The donations to support HBCU students align with Mahomes’ consistent work to shine a light on the programs. He has supported the annual HBCU Legacy Bowl through his ’15 and the Mahomies Foundation’.

“Yeah, it was a no-brainer for me whenever I got the opportunity through my foundation to help sponsor this game,” Mahomes said in 2022. “I know a lot of players that have been at HBCUs and haven’t got the opportunity that I got coming out of college. So, I wanted to make sure we shine a light on these guys. There are a bunch of these guys that can play in the league.”

Running back D’Onta Foreman of the Chicago Bears was awarded his first FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week for his contribution to Chicago’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders, where he rushed for 89 yards on 16 carries (5.6 avg.) and two touchdowns in Week 7.

Mahomes will look to build on his fantastic Week 7 performance with his upcoming road matchup against the Denver Broncos this Sunday.

6 highlights from latest Daniel Snyder bombshell story

There’s no way Dan Snyder isn’t selling the team now, right?

The heat is on for Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder.

Over the last several days, multiple conflicting reports emerged regarding the sale of the Washington Commanders, who was involved, who wasn’t involved and Snyder’s pushback.

On Tuesday morning, the day after The Washington Post’s story revealing Snyder wanted indemnification from fellow NFL owners and the league from future liabilities and costs if he sells the team, came an ESPN bombshell from Don Van Natta Jr. that covered Snyder’s falling out with his three former minority partners.

A lot was included in Van Natta’s report, which featured excellent reporting and a lot of documents, many of which revolve around a $55 million loan Snyder received from Bank of America that his former minority partners knew nothing about at the time.

We’ve reviewed Van Natta’s report, and here are five highlights/takeaways from the latest Snyder news.

Rashaad Penny wins FedEx Ground Player of the Week again

Rashaad Penny wins FedEx Ground Player of the Week again

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny has won the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for the second consecutive game. As a result, FedEx will once again donate $2,000 in Penny’s name to HBCUs, which will be used to finance scholarships for students.

Penny rushed for a new career-high of 190 yards and a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18. The fourth-year running back caught fire in the final month of the 2021 season and ended the year with another monster performance that he or his agent could use as leverage for a new contract in free agency, be it in the Emerald City or elsewhere.

Penny has openly stated that he hopes to return to Seattle, but we will see what they and other teams offer him in March.
