F1 drivers 2023: Meet the 20 who will compete for a championship this season

A look at the F1 drivers and teams for 2023.

The red lights are finally about to go out for the 2023 Formula 1 season, with Max Verstappen and Red Bull looking to defend their respective drivers and constructors championships.

And as usual, there have been some changes in the drivers on some of the teams, with seats going to some young up-and-coming studs to join some of the stars in the sport. Of course the top teams — Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari among them — kept the same lineup that they had last year.

As we get set for what promises to be another amazing season to begin, here’s a look at who’s driving with which team:

The epic 2023 F1 opening title sequence will give you all the chills

The F1 theme song is the best and the 2023 opening sequence for broadcasts will give you chills.

The 2023 F1 season is nearly upon us, a year after Max Verstappen and Red Bull completely dominated the field and we got another American race in Miami.

And that means we’re going to hear that incredible theme song that opens every broadcast, which is always visually stunning too: Each driver, looking focused and ready and right into the camera. This year, F1 is adding names to go along with the faces, a clear sign they’re continuing to connect drivers with the growing fanbase.

I have watched this no less than five times. It is epic, it is heart-pounding, and I can’t wait for Sunday’s opening race in Bahrain:

CHILLS!

For $1 million, you can play Wynn Las Vegas (and get a bunch of other amazing things as part of an F1 Las Vegas ultimate fan experience)

If you have $1 million to spare, you can do the Vegas F1 race in 2023 in style.

Ever want to tee it up at Wynn Las Vegas? You got a million bucks?

Just off the strip behind the Wynn Las Vegas hotel and casino, the golf course is one of the highest daily-fee tracks in the U.S.

The course is No. 5 on Golfweek’s Best list of the top public-access courses in Nevada in 2022 and No. 19 on Golfweek’s Best list of the top casino courses in the U.S. It’ll set you back about $550, so you obviously don’t need to spend $1 million to play there.

That is unless you want to be a part of the official Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023 Million Dollar All-Access Experience by Wynn Las Vegas.

That’s right, golf and race fans, you can enjoy the F1 race in Vegas in style.

The racing circuit has taken the U.S. by storm and the countdown is on to November 2023. In March, F1 announced it will stage a night race with part of the 3.8-mile track going right down the Strip. F1 cars can top 200 mph and they will fly right by some of the famous Vegas hotels and landmarks. The route will have 50 laps with 17 turns and three straightaways.

Tickets to the general public went on sale Nov. 5, 2022, a full year ahead of the festivities.

For high rollers, however, there may only be one way to go and that’s where the $1 million comes in.

Wynn Las Vegas says it’s “pulled out all the stops to create an epic race weekend that positions you at the heart of all the action, while also offering an exceptional level of VIP detail to your stay, from luxurious accommodations and amenities to exclusive resort and F1 events and, of course, superior Five-Star service.”

In addition to a round at Wynn Golf Club, your $1 million also gets you:

  • Airport arrival and departure to and from the F1 Paddock
  • A Jeroboam of Dom Perignon and caviar upon arrival
  • Four nights in a 5,829-square-foot suite with two-story windows
  • Red Carpet viewing and kick-off party
  • VIP access to exclusive Wynn race-week events
  • Dinner for six at Delilah
  • Golf for six at Wynn Golf Club followed by a visit to the spa

Of course, you can’t just go online and buy this experience. You must first fill out an inquiry form.

Talk about bragging rights.

Sergio PĂ©rez virtually drove around Mexico City Grand Prix track with his eyes closed, and it’s astonishing

This is amazing!

If you drive through a particular area enough times, you’ll likely commit some or all of it to memory.

The same is true for race car drivers, who can spend much of their careers competing on the same tracks, as well as practicing virtually. So they really get to know the twists and quirks of so many different tracks.

But Formula 1 driver Sergio PĂ©rez might be able to tackle the Mexico City Grand Prix track blindfolded. Well, probably not in actuality because that’d be super dangerous. But the veteran Red Bull Racing driver recently showed off just how well he knows the Mexico City track, and it was impressive.

With the 4.304-kilometer circuit on a screen behind him, PĂ©rez “drove” around the track with his eyes closed, and it was pretty astonishing. He wasn’t perfect but his timing was incredible and the video is mesmerizing.

The Mexican Grand Prix is set for Sunday at 3:55 p.m.

F1’s Lewis Hamilton comments on joining Broncos’ ownership group

F1’s Lewis Hamilton says he’s “excited to join an incredible group of owners and become a part of the #Broncos story!”

After the Denver Broncos announced Tuesday that Lewis Hamilton is joining their (pending) new ownership group, the accomplished Formula One driver took to Twitter to share the following statement via social media:

“Excited to join an incredible group of owners and become a part of the @Broncos story!! Honoured to work with a world class team and serve as an example of the value of more diverse leadership across all sports. Roscoe already thinks he made the team 😂 #LetsRide đŸŽđŸ”„

The post included a picture of his dog, Roscoe, decked out in Broncos gear.

Hamilton is the third minority investor to join the team’s ownership group following the additions of accomplished businesswoman Mellody Hobson and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Peyton Manning has also been linked to the team as a potential candidate to join the Broncos as an advisor. The new ownership group, led by Walmart heir Rob Walton, is expected to be approved by NFL owners on Aug. 9.

Broncos add F1 driver Lewis Hamilton to ownership group

Lewis Hamilton, the top driver in F1, is now a co-owner of the Broncos.

The Denver Broncos’ new ownership group continues to grow.

Rob Walton, Denver’s (pending) majority owner, announced Tuesday that British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton is joining the team’s ownership group.

“We’re delighted to welcome seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group,” Walton said in a statement. “He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a fierce advocate for global equality, including in his own sport.

“With over 100 race wins, Lewis is considered the most successful F1 driver of all time. His resilient spirit and standard of excellence will be an asset to the ownership group and the Broncos organization.”

As Walton’s statement indicated, Lewis is a highly-accomplished driver. In recognition of his racing success and off-track environmental and social activism, Lewis was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2021.

Here’s how quarterback Russell Wilson reacted to the news on Twitter:

Walton will be the team’s controlling owner, but his son-in-law, Greg Penner, is expected to handle the day-to-day operations. Penner’s wife, Carrie Walton Penner, will also have a key role in ownership.

In addition to Lewis, the Walton-Penner group has also added accomplished businesswoman Mellody Hobson and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as minority co-owners.

NFL owners will vote on the team’s new ownership group on Aug. 9, and the group is expected to be approved just in time for preseason.

This angle of Zhou Guanyu’s crash in the F1 British Grand Prix is absolutely terrifying

Thankfully Zhou Guanyu is OK after this horrific crash.

The British Grand Prix got off to a terrifying start today with a huge crash on the first lap that thankfully didn’t lead to any serious injuries.

Zhou Guanyu’s Alfa Romeo car flipped over and went flying through the sand just off the track before slamming into the fence and getting stuck between the fence and the barrier to the track.

It was a frightening scene but thankfully Guanyu was pulled out of the car by medics and somehow didn’t suffer any major injuries. The halo used on the F1 cars to protect the drivers did its job here and might have even saved Guanyu’s life.

This angle of the crash is wild:

Here’s another angle:

Here is the initial update on his health:

Again, the halo worked:

Twitter had reactions.

F1 22 hands-on preview – glamor and safety cars

With the full game releasing on July 1, we had one more chance to give EA Sports F1 22 a try before launch.

With the full game releasing on July 1, we had one more chance to give EA Sports F1 22 a try before launch. Our newest look at the racing game is all about F1 Life hub and the Pirelli Hot Lap mode, where you can drive expensive and charming supercars.

It might sound weird, but the biggest change we’ve noticed as we got access to this new build is the EA Sports component. This is the second Codemasters-created F1 game under EA, of course, but last year EA’s influence was just a logo animation before the main menu. This year, Electronic Arts is written all over the place, right down to the signature menu music, something you’ve seen happen in FIFA, Madden, NHL games in the past. Previous Formula 1 games never had anything like that before.
