The New England Patriots (2-3) will host the Dallas Cowboys (4-1) in Week 6.

Dallas, led by Dak Prescott, is one of the hottest teams in the NFL currently on both sides of the ball. Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliot, CeeDee Lamb and Dalton Schultz are just a few of the weapons at Prescott’s disposal. On the other hand, the Patriots will be healthier than last week and they’ve allowed the fourth-least passing yards in the league.

Mac Jones will get his second real test against a tough opponent and he’ll continue to grow in primetime NFL moments. The Patriots won’t likely go out without a fight, but they will have their hands full.

Buckeyes in the NFL: Notable former Ohio State football players Week 4 NFL performances

How did these former #Buckeyes play on Sunday?

The Ohio State Buckeyes looked phenomenal on Saturday as they dismantled the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 52-13. As we take time to celebrate the Buckeyes arriving as an actual College Football Playoff threat once again, we also have the luxury of diving into the Sunday action with so many former OSU players in the NFL.

Week 4 is almost in the books, and as is tradition, at this point a number of former Buckeyes have made an impact at the next level. As we take a break from the college game and bask in the Ohio State victory, we wanted to provide you a breakdown of the former offensive pieces, with some notable defensive performances coming later.

Cowboys News: Preseason schedule finalized, former player linked to one of Watson’s accusers

How will Dallas far against the NFL Champs and runner-ups? Will history cause complications? Could Parsons make a difference?

The Dallas Cowboys continue to go about their offseason business. The club is tight against the cap, but is searching for veteran help in the QB department to back up Dak Prescott. Another one in, another one out without making a deal. Meanwhile, fans trying to plan their offseason travel plans now know what games are on the regular season and preseason schedule and for what dates. The opponents had been announced, but now the dates and times are locked in.

A player from the late 2000s-decade has been anonymously called out by one of the massage therapists who is suing Houston Texans’ QB Deshaun Watson for sexual assault, for a similar incident that went unreported at the alleged time. In other legal news, Ezekiel Elliott’s dogs were loose on Thursday.

Can Prescott return to form? Can the defense continue their late-season turnover trend? Will the matchup with this AFC opponent shatter records? All this and more in the latest edition of Cowboys news and notes.

Remembering the longest runs in Ohio State football history

We look back at the ten longest runs in Ohio State football history. Some of the names might surprise you. Some are repeat performers.

[listicle id=50380]We are exactly 100 days away from the kickoff of the 2021 college football season and the off-season is a perfect time to reflect on the history of the Ohio State football program. OSU has a long list of memorable, big plays that have occurred throughout the program’s history, but today I wanted to explore the ten longest runs in Buckeye history.

This list is really going to surprise you as some of the names are less iconic than most would guess, but it just goes to show you the strength of this prestigious football program.

So let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at the longest gallops in the annals of Ohio State football.

Eddie George congratulates Trey Sermon on breaking his 25 year old rushing record

A 25-year record falls and Eddie George sends praise on social media to Ohio State running back Trey Sermon.

Can you believe it’s been 25 years since we watched Eddie George run wild over the Illinois Fighting Illini? Many things have changed from then to now, but one thing that has remained constant was Eddie’s single-game rushing record at Ohio State.

That was until yesterday when Trey Sermon carried the Buckeyes to a win over Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game and a new Ohio State single-game rushing record.

George, who has represented OSU well since his day running the ball in scarlet and gray, is always a class act. And that didn’t change on Saturday when he gave Sermon a shoutout via Twitter to congratulate the senior running back.

Eddie seems to understand that records were made to be broken and it looks like the former Heisman winner couldn’t be happier for the young man that broke his.

Sermon also ran past another former Buckeye on his way to the record books, besting Ezekiel Elliot’s Big Ten Championship single-game rushing record by more than 100 yards. Elliot set that mark in 2014 at 220 against Wisconsin that sent the Buckeyes to the inaugural College Football Playoff and eventually a National Championship.

Maybe this is a great sign for things to come as the Buckeyes await to see their 2020 playoff destiny. We’ll find out the first leg of that journey today when the CFP committee announces their top four teams at 12:15 on ESPN.

Trey Sermon breaks Eddie George’s single-game rushing record in Big Ten Championship Game

A 25-year-old record falls as Trey Sermon rewrites the record books.

We have a new single-game Ohio State rushing record holder, and he goes by the name Trey Sermon. The way that it happened was almost out of necessity, but sometimes that is the great mother of invention, as they say.

Ohio State found themselves in an absolute dog fight with the Northwestern Wildcats today in the Big Ten Championship game. With Justin Fields missing two of his top targets in Chris Olave and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and somewhat off his game, it was Sermon who strapped the Buckeyes to his back and carried the team home.

Sermon played like a man possessed today and decided he was not going to let his team lose. Starting running back, Master Teague, left the game with an undisclosed injury which gave more touches to Sermon, and he did not waste the opportunity, leading the Buckeyes to a 22-10 victory over Northwestern.

Sermon would go on to break the Ohio State all-time single-game rushing record set by Eddie George in 1995 during his Heisman winning season. Sermon broke Eddie’s 25-year-old record by rushing for 331 yards on 29 carries. George set the mark to break against Illinois all those years ago at 314 yards.

Sermon also etched his name in the Big Ten record books by obliterating former Buckeye Ezekiel Elliott’s Big Ten Championship Game rushing record of 220 yards.

Now on to the post-season. It has to look good in the eyes of the playoff committee that Justin Fields can have an off day and the Buckeyes able to get big production from someone other than No. 1. What a perfect day for Sermon to write his name into the record books.

By the way, the 331 yards is also the most rushing yards by any player in any conference championship game across all FBS leagues in history. So yeah, that’s something to carry around with you. Being the Big Ten Championship Game MVP is another feather in the scarlet and gray cap.

Overreaction Tuesday: Cardinals back in NFC West 1st-place contention following win over Cowboys

The Arizona Cardinals handled the Dallas Cowboys an ugly loss on Monday Night Football, re-igniting the Cardinals playoff chances.

It was a beautiful day to be an Arizona Cardinals fan.

The Cardinals marched into Texas and absolutely handled the Cowboys on national television.

Kyler Murray threw for two touchdown passes and rushed for another without throwing an interception. Kenyan Drake looked like the back we saw at the end of 2019. Vance Joseph’s defense sans All-Pro pass rusher Chandler Jones dominated the league’s No. 1 scoring offense.

It started very shakily for the Cards. Jordan Hicks dropped a gift of an interception from quarterback Andy Dalton and Dennis Gardeck was barely unable to register a safety. Arizona got the ball at midfield and went backward 12 yards before punting.

A pair of fumbles from Cowboys’ star runner Ezekiel Elliot set the tone for the rest of the game. The Cardinals offense never felt challenged from that point forward.

  • Kyler Murray ran circles around the Dallas defense
  • Christian Kirk had a big game with two touchdown receptions, one being an 80-yard bomb from Murray
  • Kliff Kingsbury’s offense proved it can work around a slow day for DeAndre Hopkins (that is, until he nearly took a drag route to the house)
  • Kenyan Drake capped a strong performance with a 69-yard touchdown run
  • Larry Fitzgerald proved he’s still got it, coming up clutch early in the game and torching the secondary in the red zone on a Murray overthrow.
  • Haason Reddick leads the Cards in sacks and had two on Monday night
  • Budda Baker had a forced fumble, an interception(the first of his career!), and a sack. It would be criminal for him to not receive the NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • The Cardinals have allowed 14 QB hits at this point in the season, which is the lowest in the league. Sean Kugler and the offensive line have been tremendous to this point.
  • Byron Murphy had his best game as a pro. He got the better of almost every ball that was thrown his way.

I probably missed some things, but that’s just the kind of day it was for the Cardinals. This victory has put the NFC on notice that Arizona is a real threat. They are back in contention for first place in the NFC West.

Their next matchup is at home against the Seattle Seahawks, who are coming off their bye. This game now has huge implications, given that the Cards could tie the Seahawks’ win total heading into their bye. They can’t quite take the throne back with the win, but they can put themselves at a 5-2 record before some much-deserved rest.

That game will be a big test for the Cardinals. Today’s game was as well, and they aced it.

Cowboys trail Browns 31-17 at the half

The Cowboys trail the Browns 31-17 at the half in Week 4 of the very young NFL season.

For a few minutes of this Week 4 encounter, Cowboys fans thought they were in for yet another back and forth shoot out. It was, for a few series.

The Cowboys have found themselves with another two turnovers on offense in which leading to 14 points from the Cleveland offense. Baker Mayfield has had this way with the Cowboys secondary thus far. The Cowboys defense has given up over 300 yards of offense in one half of football.

The Cowboys also cant seem to get off the field either. The Browns rushing attack doesn’t even have and or need the likes of a Nick Chubb.

The Cowboys also find themselves on the wrong side of history. The Browns haven’t scored this many points in a first half since 1991 and have continued their offensive assault with 30 plus points in three straight games.

Both Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott have both put the ball on the AT&T Stadium turf and the Browns quickly took advantage of both momentum and field position.

The bright spots of the first half for the Cowboys is the aforementioned Prescott who has two touchdown passes. One, rookie CeeDee Lamb’s first career touchdown catch and a second, a laser to Amari Cooper over the middle.

The Cowboys trail 31-14 at half and if they want any shot at accomplishing yet another comeback, it starts with getting off the field on defense. The Browns will receive the second half kickoff.
