The Dutton brothers announce commitments to Auburn baseball

Auburn added a pair of transfers Friday after brothers Samuel and Andrew Dutton announced their intent to join the Tigers’ roster.

Auburn baseball is already preparing to build its roster to be in a better spot for the 2025 season after a disappointing campaign in 2024. The Tigers are looking for talent through the transfer portal, which has yielded some success in the early going.

Auburn earned two more additions through the portal today from two players that know each other very well. Brothers [autotag]Andrew Dutton[/autotag] and [autotag]Samuel Dutton[/autotag] make have committed to the Plains after successful seasons at their previous schools.

Andrew is entering his fifth season at the collegiate level after spending the last four years at Birmingham Southern, a program that just disbanded following the closure of the university. He is a middle infielder that has proven to be a great contact hitter at the plate.

Over his four years with the Panthers, he posted a .346 batting average and a .515 slugging percentage. A consistent starter for the historic former Division III school, he hit seven home runs and racked up 42 RBI, while also ending with a positive strikeout-to-walk ratio in his senior season.

His brother is Samuel Dutton, who makes his way east after spending the previous three years at SEC foe LSU. He is a pitcher that has primarily spent his time in Baton Rouge in the relief role.

In his time with the Tigers, Dutton put up a 6.02 earned run average in 86.2 innings of work. After working as a starter for much of his freshman year, he has only started four games over 39 appearances in the last two years, being moved into a bullpen role for LSU’s strong pitching staff. He has struck out 76 and walked 25 batters in his college career.

The brothers are the team’s third and fourth transfers since the season ended, with [autotag]Lucas Steele[/autotag] and [autotag]Eric Snow[/autotag] having already joined on with head coach [autotag]Butch Thompson[/autotag].

Every player in Philadelphia 76ers history who has worn No. 20

Here is a list of the 22 players who have worn the No. 20 uniform of the Philadelphia 76ers in the franchise’s history.

It’s summertime in the NBA, so it’s time to learn some history. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the older franchises in the NBA. Their history dates to the 1949-50 season.

With that longevity, the team has had hundreds of players come through the City of Brotherly Love. Sixers Wire looks at the No. 20 which has been worn by 22 of those players in the history of the franchise.

This running series will go through all of the uniform numbers worn in franchise history. The previous edition of this series was a list compiling the 14 players who have worn the No. 21.

Here is the list of the 22 who have worn No. 20 in Sixers history:

List of the sidekicks Sixers employed next to superstar Allen Iverson

Here is a list of the sidekicks the Philadelphia 76ers employed next to superstar Allen Iverson during his era.

When one remembers Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson, one will remember two things: his elite scoring ability and his willingness to put his body on the line every night and play through injury in order to help his team win.

Iverson averaged 27.6 points and 6.1 assists in his career for Philadelphia and he ended up winning four scoring titles. He won an MVP award in 2001 and he led the team to the NBA Finals in 2001.

What was even more impressive about Iverson’s run in 2001 was that he did so without a bonafide sidekick next to him. Philadelphia struggled to find the right Robin to Iverson’s Batman all throughout his career as they made moves that were expected to help The Answer get the Sixers to the top and Sixers Wire is going to list the sidekicks Iverson had in Philadelphia.

Eric Snow believes Joel Embiid’s window to win with Sixers is closing

Former Philadelphia 76ers guard Eric Snow believes Joel Embiid’s window to win a title is getting smaller.

Everybody knows how talented and dominant Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is. The guy just led the league in scoring at 30.6 points per game becoming the first big man to do so in 22 years and he also became the first big man to average 30 in a season in 40 years.

However, despite being only 28-years old, he has dealt with a lot of injuries and that makes people wonder how much longer he can be that dominant big man.

Former Sixers point guard, Eric Snow, certainly has his own worries as he joined The Zach Gelb Show and he believes Embiid’s window to win with the Sixers is beginning to shut and get smaller (h/t Audacy):

“I think they have to be close [to winning], because I don’t think the window with Joel is as big as other people think. I think it’s two — maybe three years, max — that I think something has to be done, in order to help him win,” Snow explained to The Zach Gelb Show on Wednesday. “And Joel’s window where it’s his best years — you have to approach it that way. And I don’t know what Morey and Brand are going to do. But I believe the urgency has to be high…

Snow then addressed James Harden and how he can help Embiid as the Sixers move forward with that partnership:

“If he’s your No. 1 option, he’s supposed to be your finisher… So, it shouldn’t all be on James Harden. But, he does have to be better. I just don’t think you can say Joel’s the No. 1 option, and then we get into the playoffs and James has to be the No. 1 option… I think James is that guy. I think it’s the time and kind of picking your plays. Is he going to be aggressive when it’s needed… It’s the timely shots that are more important right now with James…”

Embiid is still going to be among the league’s best players in the 2022-23 season, that much is certain, but life comes at you fast in the NBA. The window to win a championship is not always as big as some would like to believe and the Sixers have to begin taking advantage of the opportunity they have in front of them.

A list of the top 10 assist leaders in Philadelphia 76ers franchise history

Here is a list of the top 10 assist leaders in the history of the Philadelphia 76ers.

With the doldrums of the offseason here in the NBA, now is the time to look back on history and acknowledge some greats in Philadelphia 76ers franchise history before looking ahead to the excitement of a new season.

In this edition, we look at some of the best passers in Sixers history: the guys who led the team on offense making sure everybody is in the right position so the offense can run smoothly.

Most of the players on this list are point guards, but some are bigger players, and some focused mostly on scoring while out on the floor. Here is the list of the top 10 assist leaders for the Sixers:

Ranking the top five point guards in the storied history of the Sixers

We have ranked the top 5 point guards in the history of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The point guard position has undergone plenty of changes throughout the history of the NBA. The evolution has included moving from being mainly pass-first a la Jason Kidd and Steve Nash to thinking scoring like Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and Russell Westbrook.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had plenty of great point guards in their history and in this edition, we’re going to rank the top five in the history of the franchise. The list is going to be based on numbers and accomplishments with the Sixers such as placement on all-time lists. Also, just a disclaimer, Allen Iverson will be included with the shooting guards.

With that said, it’s time to get into this in reverse order.
