Greg Schiano made the trip north to see Don Bosco Prep host Erasmus Hall.

Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano was at Friday night’s game between Erasmus Hall at Don Bosco Prep. It was the biggest game of the weekend in the tri-state area.

Erasmus Hall features defensive lineman [autotag]Aaris Bethea[/autotag], a Rutgers football commit. Also on that defensive line is [autotag]Caden Brown[/autotag], who holds a Rutgers football offer and was on campus in late July for an unofficial visit.

Playing at home, Don Bosco won the game 31-6. The Ironmen were up 24-0 at halftime.

Schiano was afforded the chance to see the Friday night game due to his weekend work schedule being different than usual. With the Rutgers season opener on Sunday, Schiano had a day that he could spend recruiting:

Erasmus Hall has become a pipeline program to Rutgers in recent years, with a number of top prospects heading to Piscataway. Don Bosco Prep is one of the top high school programs in the national and traditionally churns out multiple FBS players each season.

Rutgers opens the season on Sunday with a game against Northwestern at SHI Stadium. Tom McCarthy and Jason McCourty, a former standout Rutgers defensive back, will have the call on CBS.

Erasmus Hall wins New York Jets annual 7-on-7 competition

Two tristate area powerhouses showed well at the New York Jets 7-on-7 competition last week.

Erasmus Hall showed why they are one of the top teams in the Northeast last week,  winning a 7-on-7 competition hosted by the New York Jets.

The Nike 11-ON tournament is a traditional 7-on-7 competition and a linemen challenge, consisting of 45 teams throughout New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.  It was held at Atlantic Health Jets Training Center.

The tournament began on Thursday, July 6, with the final eight teams moving on to the final rounds on Sunday, July 9. In the championship game, Erasmus Hall defeated Columbia High School, 23-9, to capture the 11-ON 7-on-7 tournament title.

Rutgers football recruiting: Erasmus Hall wins 7-on-7 title at New York Jets facility

Erasmus Hall wins 7-on-7 tournament at the New York Jets facility.

Erasmus Hall won the 7-on-7 championship this weekend hosted by the New York Jets, providing further evidence that the Brooklyn school is one of the elite programs in the tri-state area. A major provider of Division 1 talent, Erasmus Hall is a pipeline program to Rutgers football.

The high school team took the title on Sunday at an event held at Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. They beat out a strong field that included St. Joseph’s Regional (Montvale, N.J.) and Rampao among others.

And in doing so, they are now back-to-back champions of the event.

Erasmus Hall has developed into a powerhouse over the past decade. They’ve sent a number of top players into college football over the years, namely Rutgers. The likes of wide receivers Aron Cruickshank and Sean Ryan as well as defensive back Christian Iazien are among the names familiar to Rutgers fans over the past few years.

In June, Rutgers offered wide receiver Lyrick Samuel, who projects to be the next great wide receiver to emerge from Erasmus Hall. He already holds multiple Power Five offers and could be a four-star recruit when it is all said and done.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Rutgers landed three-star defensive lineman Aaris Bethea from Erasmus Hall. He is ranked the fourth-best player in New York by ESPN.com.

Breaking: Three-star Aaris Bethea continues the Erasmus Hall pipeline, commits to Rutgers football

Aaris Bethea has given a verbal commitment to Rutgers football.

Following his official visit this weekend to Rutgers football, New York defensive lineman Aaris Bethea committed to the Scarlet Knights. It is a huge recruiting win for Rutgers football and head coach Greg Schiano.

The commitment of Bethea is big for Rutgers. Not only is the 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive lineman a coveted national recruit, the class of 2024 prospect also continues the pipeline from Erasmus Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to Rutgers.

It was a tough recruiting battle that Rutgers was able to win to land Bethea. In late May, Bethea cut down his list to four schools with Rutgers alongside Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Ole Miss. A consensus three-star, he also held offers from Maryland, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia among others.

Bethea is the first player from New York to commit to Rutgers in this current recruiting class:

Last weekend during the first official visits of the summer season, Rutgers football landed three commitments – two of which came on the defensive side of the ball. On Saturday night, three-star offensive lineman Raynor Andrews from Miami committed to Rutgers.

Then on Sunday, Tyclean Luman and Tycoolhill Luman committed. The twin brothers are defensive ends from Miami.

Andrews and the Luman brothers all play for Norland High School.

As for Bethea, he projects as an interior defensive lineman at the next level. He he the potential to be a multi-year starter for Rutgers at a position of need.

Rutgers football hosted Erasmus Hall on Tuesday: ‘Home away from home’

Erasmus Hall visited the Rutgers football program on Tuesday.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Erasmus Hall, one of the top football programs in the region, visited Rutgers football on Tuesday.

Known as a pipeline to Rutgers, the Brooklyn-based high school has sent numerous standout players to the school. Included in this list are former wide receivers Aron Cruickshank and Sean Ryan as well as safety Christian Izien.

The program regularly produces Power Five-level recruits and has a strong relationship with Rutgers. That is evidenced by the fact that the current Rutgers roster includes Moses Walker, a former four-star recruit, and standout defensive back Kessawn Abraham.

The Dutchmen are a powerhouse program, finishing last season 10-2 and on a 10-game winning streak.

This made Tuesday’s visit to check out the Scarlet Knights a big moment for both Erasmus Hall but also the Big Ten program. The entire team was on-hand and stood on the sidelines for practice and a tour of the team’s facility, the Hale Center:
