Stanford remains No. 1, Lynn moves up in latest Mizuno WGCA coaches polls

Stanford is comfortable in the top spot.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association announced Friday its latest Mizuno coaches polls, and there are some familiar names in the top spots.

Stanford remains the No. 1 team in Division I, with Wake Forest holding steady in second. LSU moved four spots up to third while South Carolina and Oregon round out the top five.

In Division II, Lynn moved into the top spot while Dallas Baptist dropped to No. 2. Emory remains No. 1 in Division III. In the NAIA poll, Dalton State received three first-place votes and is in the top spot while Oklahoma City, which has four first-place votes, drops to No. 2.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association has released its first Mizuno WGCA rankings for the spring, and there are some familiar names on top. These are the first of four rankings coming in the spring.

Stanford opens the new year as the top-ranked team in Div. I, though Wake Forest is close behind. The Cardinal got 14 first-place votes while the Demon Deacons received the remaining five.

In Div. II, Dallas Baptist University claims the top spot with eight first-place votes, while Lynn University received the remaining seven votes to open the season at No. 2.

Emory University opens the season as the unanimous No. 1 in Div. III, and Oklahoma City and Dalton State are tied for first in the NAIA poll.

Christopher Newport is first spring 2023 Bushnell/Golfweek Div. III Coaches Poll’s No. 1

The Captains received 11 first-place votes and 412 points.

Christopher Newport begins spring 2023 how it finished fall 2022, ranked No. 1 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Div. III Coaches Poll. The Captains, who received 11 first-place votes and 412 points for Feb. 10’s poll, edged Methodist (three first-place votes and 408 points) for the top spot.

Following Methodist, the top five was rounded out by Emory (two first-place votes), Wittenberg, and Piedmont. Carnegie Mellon, Redlands, Willamette (one first-place vote), Illinois Wesleyan, and Washington & Lee completed the top 10.

With two victories in its final three fall tournaments, Christopher Newport is the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III coaches poll’s top-ranked team for Nov. 18.

The Captains, who jumped from No. 5 in the Oct. 28 poll, received all nine first-place votes and 413 points for their first No. 1 ranking of 2022-23.

Emory (five first-place votes), Methodist (one first-place vote), Wittenberg (one first-place vote), and Piedmont round out the top five. Carnegie Mellon, Redlands, Willamette, Illinois Wesleyan and Washington & Lee complete the top 10.

The biggest movers with Christopher Newport were Saint John’s (MN) (one first-place vote), who rose from No. 20 to No. 16, and Sewanee (No. 18 from No. 22).

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has announced the results of the most recent Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll. This is the fourth and final poll of the 2022 fall season.

In the latest 2022-23 Mizuno WGCA Div. III coaches poll, Emory is the unanimous No. 1, moving up three spots, while Redlands drops to No. 2. Washington St. Louis drops one spot to No. 3, followed by Carnegie Mellon and George Fox in a tie for the No. 4 spot.

Emory jumps Methodist for Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll’s top spot for Oct. 28

Emory is the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll’s top-ranked team for October 28.

With top-three finishes in four of their five fall tournaments thus far, including wins at the Piedmont Invitational and Golfweek D-III Invitational, Emory is the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll’s top-ranked team for Oct. 28. The Eagles received all 18 first-place votes for their first No. 1 ranking of 2022-23.

Methodist, Wittenberg (moved up seven spots from No. 10 to No. 3), Piedmont, and Christopher Newport round out the top five. Carnegie Mellon, Redlands, who jumped 12 spots up from No. 19 to No. 7, Willamette (moved up 10 spots to No. 8), Washington & Lee, and Illinois Wesleyan complete the top 10.

California Lutheran (No. 19) and East Texas Baptist (No. 25) made their first appearances in the top 25 in 2022-23, while five others who received votes on September 30 are in.

Babson, Berry, Kenyon, Hamilton, Rhodes, Rochester, Gettysburg, Skidmore, Occidental, Dallas, Lynchburg, Averett, Denison, Trinity, Chapman, NYU and Whitman were others receiving votes in this poll.

Emory, Redlands tied for top spot in 2022-23 Mizuno WGCA Div. III coaches poll

The second Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll of the season has a tie up at the top in Division III.

We have a tie.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association released its second Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll of the 2022-23 season and there are two teams knotted up at the top in Division III.

Emory, which was No. 1 in the preseason poll released three weeks ago, received eight first-place votes this time around.

Redlands collected the four remaining first-place votes and jumped six spots.

Each team received 287 total points, which ties them for No. 1 in the poll.

George Fox drops one spot to No. 3.

There’s another tie in the poll at No. 4 between Carnegie Mellon and Methodist.

Emory women’s golf wins 2022 NCAA Division III Championship

Emory women’s golf won the team and individual title at the 2022 NCAA Division III championship.

Emory University shot 8 over in the final round to finish 23 over for the week to win the 2022 NCAA Division III women’s golf championship on Friday at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston.

The Eagles also had the individual champ as Ellen Dong outlasted Alison Takamiya of George Fox University, winning medalist honors on the first playoff hole after each golfer finished the championship tied at 1 over. Dong’s second-round 68 tied the record at the NCAA championships.

Led by head coach Katie Futcher, Emory, located in Atlanta, won the women’s golf title for the first time in program history. Futcher was hired July of 2018. She played collegiate golf at Penn State and competed on the LPGA for nine years.

The University of Redlands came in second. George Fox was third.

Emory’s 26-stroke victory is the largest margin of victory at the Div. III women’s golf championships since 2013.

Emory women’s golf remains in top spot in Div. III Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll

Emory remains atop the Division III rankings in the final Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll for the 2022 spring season.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has announced the results of the most recent Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll.

Emory received all but three first-place votes to remain atop the Division III rankings, while Carnegie Mellon holds steady at No. 2 with one vote. Methodist received two first-place votes and comes in at No. 3, while George Fox, located in Newberg, Oregon, moves up one spot to No. 4. University of Redlands and Williams College finish in a tie for fifth-place.

Emory won its first-ever University Athletic Association championship at the Conservatory Course at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida, on March 13.

This is the fourth and final poll of the 2022 spring season.

Emory is among four UAA teams that advanced to the NCAA Division III women’s championships, which will be May 10-13 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston.
