FS1’s Emmanuel Acho: Jets have to ‘regret’ trading for Aaron Rodgers

FS1’s Emmanuel Acho: Jets have to ‘regret’ trading for Aaron Rodgers

FOX Sports NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho laid into the New York Jets… and mostly Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets are off to a 2-6 start to the 2024 season. After a 25-22 loss to the New England Patriots (2-6) in Week 8, more naysayers are having their shots at Jets… Acho included.

Acho has gone as far as saying New York’s front office now must “regret” having traded for Rodgers in general.

Acho’s full breakdown on the Jets can be found below:

Former Saints QB says to watch them on Davante Adams: ‘They think they are close’

Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Chase Daniel warns against ruling them out on Davante Adams: ‘They think they are close’

Don’t tell the New Orleans Saints they can’t win a Super Bowl this year. That’s the advice Chase Daniel shared with his FOX Sports 1 coworker Emmanuel Acho. Daniel has done well for himself after parlaying a career as a backup quarterback into a turn in the media, and he still has several old teammates and coaches in the building in New Orleans. He knows how Dennis Allen and his squad think.

So when Acho downplayed the Saints as a possible trade destination for Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams, Daniel pushed back.

“The Saints, they think they’re a contender,” Daniel refuted. “The Saints internally think they’re contenders.”

It doesn’t help Acho’s argument that Adams put the Saints and New York Jets at the top of his list of trade destinations, owing to his past experience with  Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers. Daniel pointed to Carr’s positive relationship with Allen as another point in his favor.

So where will Adams end up? He’s being held out of Raiders practice with a hamstring injury described as a week-to-week condition, which sounds like the kind of convenient ailment that should clear up with a change of scenery. It wouldn’t be easy, but the Saints do have the resources to acquire Adams, and Allen’s recent comments about the shortcomings of his receiving corps suggests he’d welcome the help. Maybe Daniel is on to something here.

FOX Sports’ Emmanuel Acho: ‘This feels like a Josh Allen MVP year’

FOX Sports’ Emmanuel Acho: ‘This feels like a Josh Allen MVP year’

After seeing Josh Allen throw for two touchdowns, run for two touchdowns, and bring his team back from a 14-point deficit in Week 1’s 34-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, Emmanuel Acho of Fox Sports said that it “feels like a Josh Allen MVP year.”

Acho, a current NFL MVP voter, was left in awe at the performance of the Bills’ QB1.

“To me, Josh Allen wasn’t just the most impressive player on the field… he was the most impressive player in the National Football League [in Week 1] … when you think about the most valuable player in football, it’s not just ‘what do you do for yourself’, but ‘what do you do for everybody around you,’” Acho said.

Acho’s main reason for bringing Allen into the MVP conversation so early in the year is because of the way he elevates the play of his teammates, mentioning the fact that Allen elevated the game of Mack Hollins, Keon Coleman, and James Cook in the win.

“This feels like one of those Josh Allen elevation years,” Acho said about Allen lifting those around him.

We have seen this in the past, with Allen elevating the performance of guys like John Brown, Cole Beasley, Stefon Diggs, and Gabe Davis. Not to mention former teammates such as Robert Foster and Isaiah McKenzie, who Allen helped become serviceable players while on the Bills and then they couldn’t find stable production after leaving.

Acho is onto something. And he is most likely late to the party. The Bills have been witnessing Allen elevate his teammates dating back to the upset over the Minnesota Vikings in his rookie year.

The chips seem to be aligning for Allen in his seventh season: Diggs is gone which means the narrative for many now is that Allen will put the offense on his back (which he has already been doing), Joe Brady looks to be a stable play-caller who trusts Allen and gives him plenty of say in the offense, and this year the Bills have arguably the most depth at the skill positions in Allen’s tenure.

Allen got off to a hot start in Week 1 and it got a lot of people buzzing, but if he can go on the road to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami and put on a show during a win, then the MVP talks will be undeniable.

Here is the full clip of Acho praising Allen:

NFL analyst: Giants betraying players, fans by starting Daniel Jones

One NFL analyst says New York Giants QB Daniel Jones is a “zero” and the team is betraying their players and fans by starting him this year.

Beating up on New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has become the “in thing.” The cheapest and easiest way to score echo chamber points is by slamming the Duke product and having the confidence that the criticism will be widely accepted.

It would be considered punching down if Jones weren’t on a $160 million contract.

Still, it’s the path of least resistance which explains why most take it.

Former Giants linebacker and current FOX Sports analyst, Emmanuel Acho, recently opted to take that float down the lazy river, ripping into Jones during an episode of Speak.

“If the Giants do not bench Daniel Jones, they are admitting they are forfeiting the season,” Acho said. “When you walk into an NFL locker room and Daniel Jones is your starting quarterback, you’re admitting — not just to the 53 players plus the 10 practice squad players — you’re admitting to your fans that ‘we are submitting’ during the course of the season. We are already saying, ‘Mercy.'”

Acho continued his rant, claiming the Giants are “betraying” every single player on the team.

“You are betraying the entire organization,” Acho proclaimed.

Effectively, Acho said, Jones is a “zero.”

Although Acho took it upon himself to speak for Jones’ teammates, they have largely disagreed with his take. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Devin Singletary praised Jones a week ago, each calling him a “dog.” Similar sentiments have been shared by wide receiver Darius Slayton, linebacker Bobby Okereke, and several others.

The issue with Acho’s analysis, at least in this instance, is that he claimed the “recent film” proves Jones shouldn’t be starting. However, the only film comes from the Houston Texans game when Jones, quite realistically, came out of the gate playing ugly football. But that changed in short order as Jones looked much more comfortable and dynamic in the second quarter.

Any other film from this year — all from training camp practices — shows a more than capable player returning from a torn ACL. Jones has been far and away the best quarterback on the team.

Acho, who never made it off of the Giants’ practice squad, may feel a certain way from the outside looking in, but those who reside in East Rutherford — the executives, coaches, and players — clearly disagree with his take.

Jones, who won a road playoff game as recently as 2022, will start in Week 1 and the Giants believe he can return them to the postseason.

NFL analyst says Ravens will be good, but may not be feared in 2024

Emmanuel Acho said that the Ravens will be good, but possibly not feared in 2024

The Baltimore Ravens will look to bounce back from a disappointing end to their 2023 season, which saw them lose to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. The team hopes to finish the job this time as it hunts for another Super Bowl title.

Commenting on Baltimore and whether they should be feared or not, former NFL player Emmanuel Acho likened the 2024 Ravens to the 2023 Eagles, saying they’ll be good but maybe not feared.

Acho talked about the team’s losses this offseason, including Geno Stone, Patrick Queen, and Jadeveon Clowney. However, the team is returning practically their entire core of stars and has depth behind them, so they will certainly at least be competitive again.

Ex-Giant agrees with Joe Schoen’s decision to stick with Daniel Jones

A former New York Giants linebacker is defending QB Daniel Jones with sound reasoning and praises the team for sticking with him.

Many NFL analysts and experts have panned the New York Giants’ decision to “ride or die” with quarterback Daniel Jones. The common gripe is that Jones is not worth the $40 million salary the Giants are paying him.

On the surface, that could be the case. Jones has had five years as the team’s starter and has yet to convince the outside world that he is the future at quarterback for Big Blue.

Injuries and inconsistency, combined with a merry-go-round within the coaching ranks, have led to Jones not playing up to his first-round pedigree.

Former NFL linebacker-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho, who had a cup of coffee with the Giants in 2013, recently added another reason for Jones’ underperformance.

“No quarterback succeeds at a high level without a dominant receiver or receiving threat,” Acho said, as transcribed by Sports Illustrated. “Daniel Jones is the only $40 million quarterback that ain’t got no Pro Bowl wide receivers.

“He also has no Pro Bowl offensive linemen. That’s not a Daniel Jones issue. So, Daniel Jones is the only quarterback in the National Football League making $40 million that had no Pro Bowl wideout and no Pro Bowl [offensive lineman].

“So if you really want to assess Daniel Jones, give him the complete and fairest shot possible, which is giving him the opportunity to have Pro Bowl talent at wideout and have Pro Bowl talent on the offensive line.”

Giants general manager Joe Schoen is aiming to rectify that. He selected LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall selection in this year’s draft and has added some veteran pieces to the offensive line.

Last season, Jones was limited to just six starts, tearing his ACL and missing the entire second half of the season. The Giant also suffered an unusually high number of injuries along the offensive line. They allowed 85 sacks, the most in the NFL in nearly 40 years.

Jones is still rehabbing his knee but is expected to participate at a high level in training camp in three weeks. The Giants will know more when the pads come on and the action speeds up.

Either way, it’s a put-up or shut-up year for Jones.

Former NFL players react to video of Cam Newton brawl

Guys who have played with and against Cam Newton think it’s a bad idea to try to fight Cam Newton.

So, is trying to fight Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton a good idea? Well, maybe we should see what some of his old teammates and opponents think.

On Sunday, a video of Newton appearing to be attacked by multiple individuals at his 7v7 event in Atlanta went viral. The clip made the rounds to former NFL players, who had the following to tweet about the wild incident:

Emmanuel Acho says 2 plays show that Russell Wilson can succeed under Sean Payton

Emmanuel Acho broke down two plays that he believes show Russell Wilson will learn from mistakes and have success under Sean Payton.

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson received mixed reviews for his 2023 preseason debut on Friday, but objective fans and pundits seem to agree that the quarterback’s performance was mostly positive overall.

Emmanuel Acho, who played in the NFL from 2012-2015, saw enough on Friday night to believe Wilson can have success under new head coach Sean Payton in 2023. In fact, Acho only needed two plays to reach that conclusion.

Acho showed two plays in which the Arizona Cardinals ran a “Cover 0” defense with seven rushers and just four defensive backs in coverage. After failing to complete a pass in the first scenario, Wilson picks up a first down (and touchdown) the second time Arizona did the same blitz.

“The Broncos will make mistakes,” Acho says in the video. “Russell Wilson will make mistakes. Sean Payton will make mistakes. But the key of having a veteran quarterback and a veteran coach is, can they learn from their mistakes within each game and from week to week?”

J. T. O’Sullivan, who played in the NFL, Canada and Germany from 2002-2012, also shared a lengthier breakdown of Wilson’s performance on his YouTube channel, “The QB School.” His 15-plus-minute review can be seen below.

Wilson will get an opportunity to build on Friday’s performance when the Broncos go on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.

Emmanuel Acho thinks Pete Carroll needs more confidence

A lot of football commentary is noise and nonsense.

A lot of football commentary is noise and nonsense. That’s just the nature of the business, especially for TV channels that need to somehow fill 24 hours with new content every day.

Observe former Eagles linebacker and current “analyst” Emmanuel Acho on FS1 saying Seahawks coach Pete Carroll needs more confidence heading into his team’s Wild Card matchup with the 9.5-point favorite 49ers. Watch and laugh.

This is just theater, so there’s no reason to get upset over Acho’s commentary.

Carroll is the most irrationally confident coach in the NFL and admitting the 49ers are a “frickin juggernaut” doesn’t change that.

NFL analyst still believes that Tua Tagovailoa can ‘snap back’

It’s been a rough stretch.

Through the first 12 weeks of the season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was a legitimate candidate for the league’s MVP.

He obviously missed time during that stretch with a serious concussion injury that was the talk of the NFL for a while, but he still started nine games and brought the Dolphins to an 8-1 record in those starts.

Tagovailoa began the season completing 69.7% of his attempts for 2,564 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions with a league-leading 115.7 passer rating.

Since then, he’s fallen back down to Earth.

Over this four-game losing skid, he’s completed just 52.6% of his passes for 984 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions with an 80.5 passer rating.

Faith that Tagovailoa can lead the Dolphins both into the postseason and on run has dwindled for a group that was once the top seed in the entire conference.

However, former NFL linebacker-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho, who’s been a staunch defender of Tagovailoa, still believes that the quarterback can get things fixed.

These two final regular season games are not easy for Miami. Both the New York Jets and New England Patriots are division rivals that always play their division opponents tough, and they also have two of the league’s better defenses.

If the Dolphins, and especially Tagovailoa, want to prove Acho right and the naysayers wrong, it starts next week, and there won’t be much room for mistakes like throwing three interceptions in the fourth-quarter of a winnable contest.
