Texas’ 2024 QB target Dylan Raiola commits to Ohio State

No. 1 overall recruit and five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola commits to Ohio State.

The Longhorns went nearly a decade between Colt McCoy and the next competent quarterback in Sam Ehlinger.

Now that Steve Sarkisian is in charge, Texas was able to bring in former five-star and perfectly rated quarterback Quinn Ewers and is in great position to land 2023 five-star quarterback Arch Manning. However, they will likely not have a chance to bring in the 2024 five-star and No. 1 overall recruit, quarterback Dylan Raiola.

The Chandler, Arizona product took to Twitter on Monday to announce his commitment to Ohio State.

Raiola is currently one of the three quarterbacks in the class of 2024 that the Longhorns have offered, which unless they can convince him to flip, will narrow their options down to five-star Julian Sayin or four-star Jadyn Davis.

While this may seem like a minuscule issue due to the fact the Longhorns have Ewers and four-star Maalik Murphy on the roster, in this day and age you can never have enough talent especially with the transfer portal as rampant as it is. It is also vital for a program like Texas who has been struggling for years to have consistency, to be able to have talented quarterbacks continue the success that the one in front of them started.

Sarkisian is a quarterback guru, and will have plenty of time to recruit one of the previously mentioned players, but as of now Raiola is headed to Columbus.

Texas set to host elite 2024 quarterback during Texas Tech game

Four-star 2024 quarterback Dylan Raoila is set to visit Austin for the Texas Tech game.

The visitors for Texas’ matchup against Texas Tech is seemingly growing by the second.

The Longhorns are expecting the top linebacker for the 2022 cycle, Harold Perkins, to visit for the second week in a row among many others.

One of the notable visitors this weekend is 2024 four-star quarterback Dylan Raiola. The Burleson, Texas native is one of the top players in the class of 2024, ranking as the No. 45 player overall and the No. 3 quarterback in the nation.

Mike Roach of 247Sports reported that Raiola is expected to be in attendance for the Week 4 game against Texas Tech, who he holds a scholarship offer from. The Longhorns have not officially extended an offer to Raiola at this point.

Raoila currently holds 10 offers from schools such as Baylor, Florida State, Georgia, and TCU. It’s likely this number will grow substantially over the coming months.

The Longhorns are hitting the future quarterback market hard over the next few recruiting cycles, with their eyes set on Arch Manning in the 2023 class. After missing out on now Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers, Texas has been all in on Manning, who has been deemed the best quarterback regardless of class.

Texas seems to be content at the quarterback position for now, with junior Casey Thompson starting, and redshirt freshman Hudson Card seemingly tabbed the quarterback of the future. Maalik Murphy is still holding strong to his commitment to Texas out of the 2022 class as well. However, in this crazy world of college football, you never know who will be on the roster one day and leave the next.

It does not hurt to be in the good graces of Raoila, who has a promising career ahead of him and can bring elite talent at the quarterback position.
