It’s flip season across the college football recruiting landscape but it appears the Spartans will not be flipping a big-time in-state prospect.

Four-star tight end and Michigan State legacy Dylan Mesman announced on Friday that he will remain committed to Louisville and sign with the Cardinals next week during the early signing period. Mesman has been a target of the Spartans since new head coach Jonathan Smith took over last month but it sounds like Michigan State will not be able to flip him their way.

Mesman hails from Saline, Mich. and was once considered a lean towards the Spartans. However, he committed to Louisville over Michigan State in April and it looks like he’ll be sticking with that decision.

Michigan State football re-offers 4-star Louisville commit TE Dylan Mesman

In 2022 and 2023, Michigan State football made a big push to land the commitment of 2024 in-state tight end Dylan Mesman. Mesman would eventually go on to commit to Louisville back in April of this year.

It seems that the installation of a new staff at Michigan State may get the Spartans another look at Mesman, at least it seems like they are going to try. On Thursday night, MSU re-offered Mesman.

2024 TE Dylan Mesman has committed to the Louisville Cardinals

In-state tight end Dylan Mesman has made the decision to commit to the Louisville Cardinals. Mesman is a 4-star prospect from Saline.

While it appeared MSU was the leader for much of the recruitment, and made the top five alongside Louisville, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Auburn, something must have changed in the closing weeks, leading Mesman to pick the Cardinals.

Four-star TE Dylan Mesman puts Auburn in top five, sets commitment date

He is set to commit Friday.

[autotag]Dylan Mesman[/autotag] is one of the top tight ends in the country and he is set to announce his commitment later this week and Auburn is a finalist.

The four-star prospect took to Twitter to announce that he will be committing on Friday at 6 p.m. and will be deciding between Auburn, Michigan State, Louisville, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder is from Saline, Michigan, and has visited the in-state Spartans, more than any other school. The Spartans have received one crystal ball prediction to land him by Curey Robinson of 247Sports.

He is the No. 390 overall player and No. 19 tight end in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 8 player from Michigan in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The Tigers have already landed one tight end in three-star [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but are expected to try and land multiple high school tight ends in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

One of the top recruits in the state of Michigan is set to make his commitment announcement on Friday. 4-star TE Dylan Mesman is getting ready to announce where he will take his talents at the next level.

Mesman is a 6-foot-5 tight end that plays at Saline High School. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he ranks as the No. 390 overall player and the No. 19 tight end in the 2024 recruiting class.

Mesman announced a top five of Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Louisville and Michigan State ahead of the announcement.

Michigan State football is off to a somewhat slow start to its 2024 recruiting class, securing only two commitments to this point. Compared to recent years, this number is down, but that isn’t something to be worried about yet.

Recruiting is sure to pick up in the near future. As the spring game approaches, several key visitor weekends are scheduled in the coming weeks.

Several prospects high on the Spartans could pull the trigger on a commitment with one more good visit to East Lansing.

Let’s take a look at three prospects who could commit to MSU soon:

Dyland Mesman of Saline, Mich. has set his commitment date for April 28, with a release of his top five schools a few days before on April 26. Mesman has been a big-time target for Michigan State and is a Spartans’ legacy.

Mesman ranks as the No. 19 tight end and No. 8 player from Michigan in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. He is also listed as the No. 391 overall prospect in the country.

Mesman holds offers from more than 20 schools, including Michigan State, Auburn, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (FL), Minnesota, Ole Miss, Pitt and Purdue. The Spartans are the current favorite to land Mesman’s commitment on both 247Sports and On3.

Four-star tight end Dylan Mesman revealed his top 10 schools list on Sunday, which included the Spartans. Michigan State was joined by Minnesota, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Duke, Kentucky, Pitt and Auburn.

Mesman hails from Saline, Mich. and is listed at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds. He holds offers from 15 schools, including Michigan State.

Mesman ranks as the No. 14 tight end and No. 8 player from Michigan in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2024 class. He also is listed as the No. 235 overall prospect in the class.

Michigan State is currently listed as the favorite to land Mesman, with one crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports. We should know soon enough if the Spartans will add another big-time tight end prospect to their roster.

Mesman ranks as the No. 12 tight end and No. 246 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. He’s also listed as the No. 6 player from Michigan.
