Tennessee baseball defeats Missouri to win SEC series.

No. 3 Tennessee (36-7, 14-6 SEC) defeated Missouri (19-25, 6-14 SEC), 3-2, Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols clinched a series win against Missouri. Tennessee also won its fifth consecutive contest and recorded eight hits in game No. 2 against the Tigers.

Dean Curley went 2-for-4. He scored one run, while Cal Stark went 1-for-3. Stark recorded one double and one RBI.

Dylan Dreiling went 1-for-3. He recorded one run, while Billy Amick went 2-for-4 for the Vols.

Missouri’s Trevor Austin hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

Drew Beam (6-1) pitched 7.1 innings for the Vols. He allowed two runs, six hits and one walk, while recording eight strikeouts.

Aaron Combs recorded the final out of the contest, earning his second save of the season.

Tennessee will conclude its three-game series against the Bulldogs on Sunday. First pitch for the series finale is slated for 2 p.m. EDT. SEC Network will televise the contest. Dave Neal (play-by-play) and Lance Cormier (analyst) will be on the call.

Sophomore Dylan Dreiling started in left field for the Vols on Saturday. He went 2-for-4 and recorded two home runs, seven RBIs, three runs and one walk.

Friday’s win is Tennessee’s 17th consecutive.

Blake Burke went 3-for-5, recording one home run, three runs and two RBIs for Tennessee. Dylan Dreiling went 2-for-4 and totaled one home run, one triple, two runs and two RBIs for the Vols.

Billy Amick went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, while Kavares Tears went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBIs for Tennessee.

Tennessee recorded 12 hits in the contest.

AJ Causey started and pitched 6.2 innings for the Vols. He allowed two runs, six hits and one walk, while recording eight strikeouts.

Tuesday’s win is Tennessee’s 11th consecutive.

The Vols recorded 17 hits, including four doubles and six home runs, against Kansas State.

Dean Curley went 3-for-5, recording three home runs and nine RBIs. Blake Burke went 2-for-5, recording two doubles and one RBI.

Billy Amick, Christian Moore and Dylan Dreiling also hit home runs for the Vols.

Cannon Peebles and Hunter Ensley each hit doubles in the contest for Tennessee.

Nate Snead (3-0) pitched four innings of relief to earn a victory. He allowed two runs (one earned), four hits and three walks. Snead recorded one strikeout.

Oklahoma led, 1-0, in the fourth inning, before the Vols scored after a solo home run by Dylan Dreiling.

Oklahoma scored four runs in the tenth inning.

Dreiling went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Christian Moore went 2-for-4 with one double, while Hunter Ensley recorded two hits for Tennessee.

2024 Tennessee baseball preview: Dylan Dreiling

Tennessee will open its 2024 season on Friday versus Texas Tech (8 p.m. EST) in the Shriners Children’s College Baseball Showdown presented by Kubota.

The Shriners Children’s College Baseball Showdown will take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.

Tennessee, Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas Tech are part of the field.

The Vols will also play Oklahoma on Saturday, while facing Baylor on Sunday.

Sophomore outfielder Dylan Dreiling enters his second season at Tennessee in 2024.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Dreiling appeared in 50 games, including 24 starts, for the Vols last season. He recorded a .295 batting average, seven home runs, 20 RBIs, 20 runs, 28 hits, 24 walks and one stolen base.

Dreiling also recorded a .917 fielding percentage and committed one error.

No. 20 Tennessee (24-14, 6-10) defeated No. 4 Vanderbilt (29-19, 13-3 SEC), 4-3 in 12 innings, Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The win ends Tennessee’s four-game losing streak.

The Vols trailed, 3-2, in the ninth inning. Dylan Dreiling hit a solo home run with two outs to tie the game.

Griffin Merritt hit a home run in the 12th inning to win the contest for Tennessee.

The Vols, despite trailing late, took a 1-0 lead in the second when Zane Denton hit a home run.

Pitcher Chase Burns (3-3) earned the win. He pitched three innings of scoreless relief. He totaled 42 pitches (28 strikes), recording seven strikeouts, allowing one hit and zero walks.

Andrew Lindsey made his second consecutive Friday SEC start for the Vols. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing three runs, six hits and two walks, while recording six strikeouts.

Tennessee has won five straight games versus Vanderbilt, marking the Vols’ longest win streak against the Commodores since winning five straight from 1995-97.

The contest ends a 15-game homestead for the Vols.

Tennessee improves to 30-13 versus in-state opponents under sixth-year head coach Tony Vitello. The Vols were 6-1 versus in-state opponents in 2022.

The Vols entered the contest ranked No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll for the fourth consecutive week.

Freshman Dylan Dreiling served as Tennessee’s designated hitter versus Lipscomb. He went 1-for-3, recording one home run, two RBIs, two runs and one walk against the Bisons.
