Dylan Crews hits his first MLB homer, leads Nationals to series win over the Yankees

Dylan Crews hit his first big-league bomb on Wednesday night as Washington clinched a series win.

After going hitless in the first game of his MLB career, [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] has turned up the heat in the past two games. On Tuesday night, he finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Wednesday, he finished the game 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBI and two strikeouts. Those stats helped the Nationals pull off a series win against the New York Yankees.

In his first at-bat of the game, Crews faced a 1-0 count from [autotag]Carlos Rodon[/autotag] and he got a 93 MPH inside fastball and DC did not miss it. He sent it on a ride at 399 feet to left field as it landed in the bullpen.

That wasn’t all for Crews in the game as he faced Rodon once again in the fourth inning and he got the best of him again. Again, he got an inside fastball and again he did not miss. Crews hit this one to left-center and it caromed off of the wall for an RBI double.

That increased the Nats lead to 5-1 and Washington would not look back. The Nats won the game 5-2 and DC looks to be fitting in just fine at the major league level.

Dylan Crews makes MLB debut with Washington Nationals

Dylan Crews went 0 for 3 in his Major League debut with a strikeout and a walk.

After spending a year in the minor leagues, [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] recently was called up to play for the [autotag]Washington Nationals[/autotag]. On Monday night, he made his first start as the Nationals hosted the New York Yankees in DC.

Crews had a relatively quiet night in his debut as he finished the game going 0-for-3 with a strikeout and a walk. That’s the game of baseball for you, even potential superstars go hitless in some games.

Crews had a .270 batting average across two minor-league teams as he made his way from the Nationals Double-A affiliate to the Triple-A affiliate and now to the major leagues.

The Nats are 12 games out of a wildcard spot in the National League so they are pulling out all the stops to try to make one final playoff push before October. Maybe Crews can be the spark that the team needs to take them to the next level. We will be keeping up with Crews as he progresses in the majors.

Dylan Crews headed to the majors after getting called up from Washington Nationals

The No. 3 prospect in Major League Baseball is headed to the big show.

The No. 3 prospect in Major League Baseball is headed to the big show. Former LSU center fielder [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] has received his call-up to the [autotag]Washington Nationals[/autotag].

Crews was the No. 2 pick in the 2023 MLB draft by the Nationals and he started his professional career in rookie ball in 2023. He has flown through the minors and after spending time with the Harrisburg Senators (Double-A affiliate) and the Rochester Red Wings (Triple-A affiliate), he is headed to Washington.

Crews has a .272 average with 21 doubles, six triples, 13 homers, and 68 RBI between the AA and AAA affiliate teams. The Nationals are currently playing the Atlanta Braves in an NL East matchup. Crews will be making his debut on Monday against the New York Yankees.

The Nationals are currently 58-70 and 10.5 games out of a National League Wild Card spot. Hopefully, Crews can be the spark that the Nats need to fight for one of the wild card spots.

Former LSU baseball star Dylan Crews discusses his work off the field

Dylan Crews highlighted the “Families Helping Families” organization that he and his family were such a big part of in Baton Rouge.

Nationwide’s Road to the Show series highlights some of the best minor league players in the country and helps fans get acquainted with the players who could be the future of the MLB.

This time, they highlighted former LSU star outfielder [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag], who is now in the [autotag]Washington Nationals[/autotag] farm system. Crews currently plays for the Nationals AAA affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings. In 44 games with the Red Wings, Crews has a .257 batting average with 10 doubles, three triples, seven homers and 24 RBI.

The next step for Crews would be a call-up to the majors. Nationwide focused on his off-the-field efforts more in their interview. Crews highlighted the “Families Helping Families” organization that he and his family were such a big part of in Baton Rouge.

“For every home erun that I hit, I personally would donate money to that organization, that charity,” Crews said. “For every homerun the team hit, my parents would donate that money to that organization.”

“But it wasn’t really about that, it was about getting those kids and those families all together and making them feel like they were one of us and that they had a friend and that they were welcome at any time.”

Hopefully, we get to see Dylan in the majors sooner rather than later.

LSU’s Ashton Larson named Most Outstanding Player for the Chatham Anglers

Ashton Larson is impressing in the Cape Cod League after a promising freshman season with the Tigers.

After an incredible season, LSU freshman outfielder [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] has been awarded the Most Outstanding Player award for the [autotag]Chatham Anglers[/autotag] in the [autotag]Cape Cod League[/autotag].

Larson continued the productivity he had during his first year at LSU during his short time with the Chatham Anglers. he finished his season in the Cape Cod league with a .316 batting average, nine doubles, one homer, and 18 RBI in 31 games with the Anglers.

Larson played 53 games for LSU this season and finished with a .298 batting average, nine doubles, three homers and 16 RBI. [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] needed someone to step up in the outfield and help try to fill a hole left by [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] and although he is not Crews, Larson filled a corner outfield spot and became an everyday starter for the Tigers.

Larson’s future is bright on the Bayou. He has all the tools needed to become one of the next top draft picks out of LSU.

Former LSU baseball star Tommy White officially inks deal with Athletics

Tommy White made his choice to turn pro official by signing with the Oakland Athletics.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] made the start of his professional career official by signing with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

The A’s selected White out of LSU with the No. 40 overall pick earlier this month. White had the option to return, but that was always unlikely given his talent level.

The slot value for White’s pick is $2.3 million. According to reports, White signed above slot value with the deal sitting around $3 million.

White spent three years in college. One at NC State and two at LSU. In that time, he hit 75 homers and drove in 249 runs. He helped lead LSU to a College World Series title in 2023, which included hitting a walk-off home run in the CWS semi-final against Wake Forest.

White was the first LSU player off the board in this year’s MLB draft. The A’s are in the midst of a long rebuild and hope White can be a central part of that. With the upcoming move to Vegas, it’s unclear if White will ever play in Oakland.

LSU’s had a good run of players entering pro ball. [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] is already in the big leagues and looks like an ace. [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] is in Triple-A and should be approaching his call-up. Tre Morgan’s career is off to a good start too, hitting at multiple levels in the Rays system.

It will be tough for LSU to replace White’s power next year.

Watch Dylan Crews hit a crazy walk-off for Rochester Red Wings

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. In [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag]’ case, he is both. The former [autotag]Golden Spikes Award[/autotag] winner and star LSU outfielder secured a win for the [autotag]Rochester Red Wings[/autotag] on Tuesday night with a walk-off E6.

An E6, if you do not know, is an error on the shortstop. On this play, the shortstop attempts to flip the ball to second base for out No. 3 and to get Lehigh Valley out of the inning but his throw was off the mark and the errant throw led to a runner scoring to win the game for the Red Wings.

Crews has played in 24 games for the Red Wings and has five doubles, four homers, and 14 RBI and has a batting average of .257. He is one step away from playing in the major leagues. His next stop would be the [autotag]Washington Nationals[/autotag], who could use a good outfielder right now.

Former LSU baseball star Dylan Crews on a hot-streak in Triple-A

Dylan Crews could be on the fast track to his major league debut.

Former LSU star [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag], the 2023 Golden Spikes Award winner and No. 2 pick in last year’s draft, was having some struggles in the Washington Nationals minor league system earlier this season.

He has put those issues behind him, however, and may now be on the fast track to the big leagues. Crews was called up to Triple-A earlier this summer, and he’s in the midst of an impressive streak for the Rochester Red Wings.

Crews is currently on an eight-game hitting streak, hitting two home runs with five RBI and seven walks in that span. In 23 total games at the Triple-A level, he’s batting .257 with five doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI.

Crews’ college teammate and first overall pick [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] already made his rookie debut earlier this season, earning All-Star honors for the National League amid an impressive campaign. With his play in the minors picking up, Crews will hope to join Skenes in The Show sooner rather than later.

The stars are aligning for LSU baseball in 2025

LSU baseball has all the tools to win a national title in 2024. Now, it’s about putting the pieces together.

The summer of 2022 was a good one for LSU baseball. [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] knew players like [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] and [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag] were returning while adding superstars [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] and [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] in the transfer portal. It made LSU the consensus No. 1 entering 2023, with some calling it a dream team.

That group fit the billing, going on to win the national title a year later.

This summer has been a similar flood of positive news for Jay Johnson’s squad. According to 64Analytics, the Tigers have the top transfer class in college baseball. LSU survived the MLB draft largely unscathed and with a few surprises.

Star high school pitcher [autotag]William Schmidt[/autotag] pulled his name from draft boards and announced his decision to attend LSU. Key contributors from the 2024 squad, first baseman [autotag]Jared Jones[/autotag] and shortstop [autotag]Michael Braswell[/autotag], both announced their return to school.

I’m not saying the 2025 squad will be a dream team on the level of 2023. We may never see that assembly of talent again in college baseball. LSU hasn’t added a Skenes or White in the portal, but those players aren’t there every year. There’s no Dylan Crews or Tre Morgan either, even if LSU’s lineup does have potential to be among the nation’s best.

Regardless, LSU is positioning itself to be a true national title contender in 2025. Questions about the pitching staff remain, but the portal work has built enough depth for a few solid options to emerge. Jones should take another step forward as a slugger and second basemen [autotag]Steven Milam[/autotag] is set to become a superstar.

Don’t forget about [autotag]Jake Brown[/autotag], who had several impressive moments as a true freshman down the stretch.

It’s a team that will be battle-tested after facing adversity in 2024 and seeing its season come to a heartbreaking end in the Chapel Hill Regional.

Johnson, having managed a team filled with stars in 2023 and a team that needed some work in 2024, has proven he can win in different ways. Next year, we’ll see a combo of the two styles. It will be a team with strong portal reinforcements, but much of the core will come through high school recruiting and retaining what LSU already has.

After a disappointing 2024, the pressure will be turned on again next year. How this group deals with that will be something to watch, but the veteran presence is there.

Johnson knows his gig is the best job in the country. It’s because it doesn’t take much effort to assemble a team like this. LSU has all the tools to win another national title in 2025, now it’s just about putting the pieces together.

Tommy White selected by Oakland Athletics to lead off 2nd round of 2024 MLB draft

Tommy White became the first LSU player taken as he’s going to Oakland with the 40th pick in the draft.

With the 40th pick of the 2024 MLB Draft, the Oakland Athletics selected LSU third baseman [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag].

Tommy Tanks was one of the most prolific hitters in college baseball since he started as a Freshman for the NC State Wolfpack. After his freshman season with the Wolfpack, White transferred to LSU where he would team up with [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag], [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag], [autotag]Gavin Dugas[/autotag], [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag] and more to lead LSU to a national championship. Tommy finished that season with a .374 batting average and he had 24 doubles, 24 homers, and 105 RBI.

This season at LSU, his production dipped to a .330 batting average with 12 doubles, 24 homers, and 70 RBI. One area where White improved a lot while at LSU was on defense. He became a guy who was a designated hitter to a guy who had a lot of potential at the hot corner.

He heads to the Oakland A’s to play for a team that needs some help in a big way.
