Josh Allen: Our fans have been waiting a long time for meaningful games

Josh Allen is happy Jaguars fans finally have something to cheer about.

In Josh Allen’s first three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team lost 39 games and finished last place in the AFC South all three years. This season has been a much different story.

The Jaguars finished the 2022 regular season by rattling off five straight wins for the first time since 2005. The grand finale was a 20-16 division-clinching win over the Tennessee Titans in front of more than 70,000 fans on Saturday night.

It’s the type of passionate, raucous crowd that Allen never had a chance to see in his first three seasons. And he expects he’ll see it again this Saturday night when the Jaguars host the Los Angeles Chargers in a playoff game.

“Our fans have been waiting for a long time [for the team] to play in meaningful games at home, and now we have two back-to-back” Allen told Mia O’Brien of 1010XL on Tuesday. “I know they’re going to be there. I know they’re going to be loud. I know they’re excited. Heck, I can’t go nowhere without somebody telling me how excited they are.

“The thing about it is we’re excited too, and we have all the confidence in the world that we can go out here and win those game. To have [the fans] go out there and be out there cheering and screaming all night long is really remarkable and we’re excited for them.”

The game against the Chargers will be the fifth home playoff game in Jaguars history. The only other one in the last two decades was a 10-3 win over the Buffalo Bills in January 2018.

Jaguars celebrate 904 day, encourage fans to show their team pride for free tickets

With a good enough “DUUUVAL” chant today, you could win free tickets to see the #Jaguars up close.

The Jacksonville Jaguars regular season kickoff is officially just one week away. Anticipation is building for fans, and the team knows that their supporters want to get involved in wishing them well before the grueling 17-game schedule gets underway.

Today’s date, September Fourth, has been dubbed 904 Day in honor of Duval County, Florida’s area code. The Jaguars are encouraging all die-hard Jacksonville Fans to get involved in celebrating their hometown by sending them their most enthusiastic and creative “DUUUVAL” chant for a chance to win free tickets to a game this season.

Check out the Tweet that the team put out to announce the competition here, and be sure to click the link to check all the terms and conditions that apply to win your chance to see the team up close:

The race is officially on to show the Jaguars the most creative and excited “DUUUVAL” chant of all time. It might seem like a silly sweepstakes opportunity, but the team knows that Jacksonville fans are all too serious in their support of their beloved team.

This competition is just one of what is sure to be a series of pre-kickoff activities that the team will undertake to drum up support ahead of their 2022 redemption campaign.

There is a sort of sick irony to all this, in that a team that has lost so many games over the past two seasons is seeking the most vociferous chant of support. Some might think that the best way to secure the adulation they’re looking for might be to win football games, but free tickets will probably do the trick as well.

2022 will be an exercise in rebuilding the Jaguars roster and reputation for the front office and coaching staff, and for fans should be an exercise in patience. Though Jacksonville has valuable pieces in place at key positions on their team, it will take more than chants or tickets to get back to playing winning football in the 904.

Will the Jacksonville Jaguars make the 2020 NFL playoffs?

Yes: +800 | No: -1429

On paper, the Jaguars look like one of the worst teams in the NFL. They’ve made moves this offseason that suggest they don’t plan to compete much in 2020, trading CB A.J. Bouye and DE Calais Campbell, while also shopping RB Leonard Fournette at one point.

The AFC South may not be strong, but the conference as a whole will keep Jacksonville out of the playoffs – even with an additional postseason berth available in 2020.

The Jaguars are not going to make the postseason unless QB Gardner Minshew or Fournette has an MVP-type season, which is highly unlikely. Bet NO (-1429) on them making the playoffs, but a $10 bet will return a profit of just $0.70. There is much better value with our suggested bets mentioned below.

How many games will the Jacksonville Jaguars win in 2020? Bands

BAND ODDS
0-4 Wins +100
5-8 Wins -125
9-12 Wins +2200
13-16 Wins +100000

The Jaguars are fortunate to have the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins on their 2020 schedule, but all of those teams should be much-improved since last season. None of them are surefire wins for Jacksonville, nor is any other game on the schedule.

The Jags won five and six games in the last two seasons, which seems to be a reasonable prediction for the upcoming campaign. I’m torn between 0-4 wins (+100) and 5-8 wins (-125) because their most likely range is 4-5 wins, making this a tough bet.

I’ll put some faith in Minshew and suggest 5-8 WINS, hoping Jacksonville can take care of the easier portion of its schedule. The same $10 bet on this win band will fetch a profit of $8.

How many games will the Jacksonville Jaguars win in 2020? Exact number

Unsurprisingly, four and five wins have the same odds at +255, the favorites of any exact win total. It’s hard to decide between the two but since we went with the 5-8 win band, we’ll take 5 WINS (+255) here for a profit of $25.50 on a $10 bet.

The Jaguars can find wins on their schedule, but it’s going to be a matter of stealing a win or two in the division, and beating the bad teams they’re set to face in 2020.

Former Notre Dame Five-Star Recruit Signs with Jacksonville Jaguars

Remember Aaron Lynch’s brief Notre Dame career? The former prized recruit and impact freshman just signed a new deal with the NFL’s Jaguars

Quick – do you remember Aaron Lynch’s career at Notre Dame?  If you blinked you very possibly may have missed it because he transfered to South Florida after just one season where there were certainly flashes of brilliance for the former five-star recruit.

Lynch played in 12 games his one season at Notre Dame in 2011, recording a team-high 5.5 sacks and 14 quarterback hurries.  It’s almost scary to think about what might have been had he been on the 2012 defensive line with as great as that group was.

The former top-ten national recruit went on to play at South Florida in 2013 after having to sit out 2012 due to transferring.  He then declared for the 2014 NFL Draft where the San Francisco 49ers eventually took him with the 150th overall pick.

Fast-forward six years down the road and Aaron Lynch has signed a new deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars after spending the last two years with the Chicago Bears.

Terms of Lynch’s deal in Jacksonville were not yet announced.  Lynch has recorded 20 sacks in his 73 game NFL career to date and for the second time in his football career now finds himself leaving the mid-west to play for a Florida based football team.
