How former Oregon Ducks performed in NFL Week 14 games

Justin Herbert excelled once again to lead former Oregon Ducks to success in the NFL in Week 14.

The final month of the 2021 NFL season is upon us, and once again former Oregon Ducks had a strong showing at the next level in Week 14.

Quarterback Justin Herbert completed roughly 75% of his passes for the second week in a row, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns in the Chargers win over the Giants on Sunday.

Running back Royce Freeman was one of the few Texans who had a good game against the Seahawks. He only rushed for 15 yards (on 11 carries) but he did have six receptions for 51 yards out of the backfield – his first real run in Houston’s offense since coming over midseason.

In other news, rookie defensive back Jevon Holland missed last week after being placed on the COVID IL. No current word on when he will return to action to cap off what has been an impressive first NFL campaign for him.

Another 2021 draft pick, defensive back Brady Breeze, was placed on waivers by the Titans and promptly claimed by the Detroit Lions, giving him a fresh start after only earning limited playing time on special teams in Tennessee.

Without further ado, here is a look at how every Oregon alumni performed in NFL Week 14 action:

How former Oregon Ducks performed in NFL Week 13 games

It was another great week for former Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert – here is how he and other Oregon alumni performed in NFL’s Week 13.

The NFL season is starting to wind down, with the playoff picture coming more into focus as teams begin to set their sights on either a potential Super Bowl run or another long offseason.

The number of Oregon Ducks playing in the NFL has remained steady throughout the year, with injuries impacting a significant group of players (including Justin Hollins, Shane Lemieux, and Kyle Long) while others were given an opportunity after beginning the year on the practice squad, like Jake Hanson, Hendry Mondeaux, and Brady Breeze.

Justin Herbert was the star again this past week, throwing three touchdown passes in the Chargers’ rout over the Bengals.

Running back Royce Freeman was finally involved in the offense for Houston, while Juwan Johnson hauled in his longest career reception for the Saints. Rookie defensive backs Jevon Holland and Deommodore Lenoir had nice games as well, while veteran Arik Armstead recorded his third sack of the season for San Francisco.

Justin Herbert threw two TD’s, Marcus Mariota rushed for one, and Jevon Holland had his second career interception in NFL Week 12 action.

The Thanksgiving slate of NFL games are officially in the books, and once again there was a sizeable group of Oregon Ducks alumni on the field in just about every game, as Mario Cristobal and his staff continue to develop next level talent in Eugene.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert continues his up-and-down sophomore campaign, throwing for over 300 yards but with two interceptions in his team’s loss to Denver.

Running back Royce Freeman made his season debut for the Texans, appearing exclusively on the special teams, while quarterback Marcus Mariota was finally used in a goal line package as a runner, scoring a rushing touchdown for the Raiders in their win over the Cowboys.

Plenty of other Oregon alumni had solid performances, including the second interception of rookie Jevon Holland’s career, the fifth sack of the season for Pro Bowler DeForest Buckner, and a healthy return to the field for Troy Hill – who missed last week after getting carted off the field with a neck injury in Week 10.

Justin Herbert and Terrance Mitchell excelled in another solid week of NFL action from Oregon Ducks alumni.

It was another solid week for the many Oregon Ducks alumni who suited up in the NFL during Week 11 action.

Quarterback Justin Herbert rebounded from a tough week to post an excellent line in LA’s game against Pittsburgh, throwing for 382 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

Terrance Mitchell recorded his first interception of the season in a nice night for Houston, while tight end Pharaoh Brown returned after a month on the shelf to haul in two receptions as well.

The Browns were without veteran cornerback Troy Hill, who suffered a scary neck injury last week and had to be carted off to a hospital. Duck fans also didn’t get a chance to see Marcus Mariota for the Raiders, Juwan Johnson for the Saints or Royce Freeman in his new digs in Houston.

Freeman will hopefully get a chance to suit up soon, especially now that Houston cut Phillip Lindsey, his former tandem partner in Denver.

How former Oregon Ducks performed in NFL Week 10 games

DB Troy Hill appears to have avoided serious injury, which is good news in an otherwise uninspiring week of NFL action for Oregon alumni.

10 weeks of NFL action have come and gone, and plenty of former Oregon Ducks are still contributing across the league.

It was another disappointing performance from Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who threw one touchdown and one interception in a loss to the Vikings. He was excellent in Week 9 but has been otherwise pretty pedestrian over the last month.

Hopefully he’ll regain his form over the final six weeks of the NFL season and remind folks why he is among the most exciting young quarterbacks in the league.

The other big story was the scary injury to veteran cornerback Troy Hill, who had to be carted off the field and immobilized with a neck injury. The Cleveland star has reportedly been sent home from the hospital with a neck strain, avoiding what could have been a career-ending, and life-altering, injury.

How former Oregon Ducks performed in NFL Week 9 games

Justin Herbert was excellent and Jevon Holland recorded his first career interception in another week of action for Oregon Ducks in the NFL.

Week 9 of the NFL season is officially in the books, and a handful of former Oregon Ducks had their best performances of the season – and some even had the best game of their career.

Justin Herbert is back after a pair of subpar outings to finish October, completing nearly 85% of his passes while throwing two touchdowns and rushing for one on his own in LA’s win over Philadelphia.

Rookie defensive back Jevon Holland had his first career interception for the Dolphins on Sunday, although he also lost a fumble while returning a punt – his third week as the team’s new punt returner.

Troy Hill recorded his first two sacks of the season for the Bengals, while Arik Armstead had 10 combined tackles and a sack for San Francisco against the Arizona Cardinals sans Kyler Murray.

How former Oregon Ducks performed in NFL Week 7 games

No Justin Herbert this week with the Chargers having a bye, but Marcus Mariota returned. Here’s a look at how Ducks in the NFL fared.

Those who play fantasy football already know this, but Week 7 is often a pretty quiet week around the NFL.

A good chunk of teams are on byes, leaving a smaller slate of games and, in this case, taking many of the most notable Oregon Ducks in the NFL out of action – including star quarterback Justin Herbert.

Fellow quarterback Marcus Mariota made his return to the field however, after missing the last month or so with a leg injury suffered on his first, and only, play of the season in Week 1. He returned in a specialty package for Las Vegas, carrying the ball one time for four yards.

Elsewhere around Duck-land, DeForest Buckner recorded another sack, Jevon Holland had the first sack and first two punt returns of his career for Miami, and Brady Breeze made his NFL debut with the Tennessee Titans as a member of the special teams.

How former Oregon Ducks performed in NFL Week 5 games

Justin Herbert was outstanding once again to lead a solid group of former Oregon Ducks in the NFL during Week 5 action.

Over the past three weeks in the NFL, it has been Justin Herbert’s world – and everyone else is just living in it.

The second year quarterback got off to a bit of a slow start this year, but he has been absolutely cruising as of late, including a ridiculous performance on Sunday against the Browns. Herbert threw for 398 yards and four touchdowns, giving him an 11:0 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his past three contests.

While there’s no doubt Herbert is the best, and most notable, Duck currently in the NFL, he is not the only one to have a solid performance in Week 5.

A trio of defensive backs, Troy Hill, Terrance Mitchell, and Jevon Holland, set season highs in solo tackles, while offensive lineman Jake Hanson made his NFL debut and defensive tackle Henry Mondeaux recorded the first sack of his two-year career.

Justin Herbert sets another NFL record in Monday Night victory

Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert became the only player in NFL history with 500 completions before his 20th NFL game.

With 1:32 left in the first half of Monday night’s game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders, quarterback Justin Herbert completed a four-yard pass to tight end Jared Cook.

It was the 500th completion of Herbert’s career, making him the only player in the Super Bowl era to complete 500 passes before making his 20th NFL start.

Herbert – who was making his 19th start – was the AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year last season after making 15 starts and throwing for 4,336 yards and 31 touchdowns for LA.

He got off to a bit of a slow start this year, even throwing more interceptions than touchdowns through the first two games. However, he turned things around in a hurry – throwing seven touchdowns and no interceptions against Kansas City and Las Vegas these past two weeks, earning a pair of crucial victories in the highly competitive AFC West.

The former Oregon star is cementing himself as one of the best young stars in the NFL, and at his torrid pace he should continue to shatter early career records this season.

Justin Herbert leads Chargers to 4th quarter comeback over Chiefs

Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert threw four touchdown passes in the Chargers come from behind win over Kansas City on Sunday.

Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers shocked the NFL world on Sunday when they came from behind to defeat the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs, in Kansas City, by a score of 30-24.

The game was wild from start to finish but got exceptionally goofy in the fourth quarter, with four different lead changes and several uncharacteristic mistakes leading to a win for Los Angeles.

Herbert was outstanding, outdueling Mahomes by completing 26-of-38 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns, along with zero interceptions.

It was not only Herbert’s first game with multiple passing touchdowns this season, it was also his first without an interception.

Herbert threw a pair of touchdowns in quick succession in the second quarter but was otherwise quiet until the final fifteen minutes.

A 20-yard strike to Mike Williams gave the Chargers a lead with 13:39 remaining in the game, but Mahomes struck back with a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman to give Kansas City a lead with 6:43 remaining.

Herbert lead Los Angeles on a 10-play, 69-yard drive next, and a Tristan Vizcaino field goal tied things up with 2:14 remaining.

Mahomes threw his second interception of the game on the following drive, and Herbert marched his team down the field and hit Williams again in the end zone, which gave his team a 30-24 lead with 0:32 seconds left on the clock.

The decision to hit Williams in the end zone raised some eyebrows, especially after color commentator and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo criticized the play-call. Romo believed the Chargers should have run the clock down and gone for a touchdown with less than 10 seconds remaining, rather than giving Mahomes multiple chances to steal the game.

It ultimately did not matter, however, as Mahomes’ desperation hail mary fell short and the Chargers moved to 2-1 on the season in Herbert’s finest performance of the season to date – even if he was a little unsure of the result:
