5 ruled out, 4 questionable in Colts vs. Buccaneers

These are the players with injury designations ahead of the Week 12 matchup between the Colts and Bucs.

The Indianapolis Colts (5-5) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6) are just about set for a Week 12 matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams released their final injury reports of the week, included with designations for the game. The Colts ruled out three players and have one listed as questionable while the Bucs ruled out two players and have four players listed as questionable.

Here are the players with injury designations ahead of the Week 12 matchup:

Colts rule out 3 players vs. Bucs in Week 12

A trio of Colts were ruled out Friday for the Week 12 matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts ruled out three players, including two starters, ahead of the Week 12 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Shane Steichen announced Friday.

Cornerback Julius Brents (quad), tight end Drew Ogletree (foot) and center Ryan Kelly (concussion) were the trio of players ruled out on the final injury report.

Brents and Ogletree weren’t expected to play this week after failing to practice due to their injuries.

Brents hasn’t practiced since suffering his quad injury during the Week 7 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. This will lead the Colts to lean on Darrell Baker Jr. and fellow rookie Jaylon Jones to be the boundary cornerbacks in nickel packages.

Ogletree suffered his injury during the Week 9 game against the Carolina Panthers and was inactive in Week 10 against the New England Patriots.

Kelly being ruled out is a mild surprise. He suffered a concussion during the Week 10 game against the Patriots and seemed to be trending in the right direction to be cleared from the protocol after practicing in full Thursday.

However, he didn’t practice Friday, suggesting he may be dealing with a setback. Kelly is working his way back from his second concussion this season. He suffered a concussion in Week 2 and wound up missing the two games following.

The Colts will release their final injury report with designations later Friday afternoon.

Colts’ Julius Brents, Drew Ogletree will not travel to Germany

Julius Brents and Drew Ogletree will not be making the overseas trip.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Julius Brents and tight end Drew Ogletree will not travel to Germany with the team and have been ruled out for the Week 10 matchup against the New England Patriots due to injuries, the team announced Thursday.

This is typical for players who don’t have a realistic shot of playing due to their injuries. Teams traveling overseas will leave those players back in the States while those who have a chance to play will make the trip.

Brents will miss his third consecutive game due to a quadriceps injury he suffered in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. It was expected that this would be a multi-week injury and with the bye coming in Week 11, the Colts aren’t taking any chances.

Ogletree will miss this game after sustaining a foot injury during the Week 9 win over the Carolina Panthers. He didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday so it’s no surprise the Colts are holding him out of the Germany game.

It should be noted that wide receiver Josh Downs also has yet to log a practice this week due to a knee injury. However, the team believes he has a chance to play considering he was not ruled out.

The Colts will release their final injury report with game designations Friday after departing for Germany on Thursday night.

Colts’ Drew Ogletree suffers foot injury vs. Panthers

Drew Ogletree has a foot injury.

Indianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree suffered a foot injury and will not return against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.

It isn’t clear exactly when Ogletree suffered the injury nor is it clear how severe the injury is. The offense just got Kylen Granson back from a two-game absence due to a concussion while Jelani Woods has yet to make his season debut due to a hamstring injury.

Ogletree has been serving as the starter for the majority of the season so it’s likely that Granson and Mo Alie-Cox will fill the void.
