DK Metcalf on how Philadelphia ‘could have been home’ and making the Eagles pay for not drafting him

DK Metcalf says he has to make the Eagles pay for not drafting him

The Philadelphia Eagles fell to the Seattle Seahawks, 23-17, behind the arm of Russell Wilson and explosive receiving prowess of second-year pro, DK Metcalf.

Metcalf caught 10 of the 13 passes targeted to him for 177 yards, most of which came on a 52-yard pass in the second quarter over Darius Slay.

Afterward, Metcalf rubbed in the Eagles face, telling reporters that “Philadelphia could have been home” had the Eagles not bypassed him twice in the draft.

For that slight, the Eagles had to pay.

Metcalf was selected by Seattle with the 64th pick of the 2019 NFL draft, the final pick of the second round. With the Eagles struggling at the wide receiver position, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is the player mentioned most in comparison after Philadelphia selected the former Stanford star at No. 57 overall.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks recap: Everything we know

The Philadelphia Eagles are now 3-6-1 after a frustrating Monday night loss to the 8-3 Seattle Seahawks at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles have lost three straight since their Week 8 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles defense played stout for the most part but big plays from Seahawks star DK Metcalf and inefficient play on offense have Philadelphia reeling heading into Week 13.

Seahawks WR DK Metcalf leads league in receiving yards at 1039

During the Week 12 win, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf became the league-leader in receiving yards with 1039 on the year.

The Seattle Seahawks earned themselves a 23-17 win Monday night over the Philadelphia Eagles and second-year wide receiver DK Metcalf was a big part of the victory equation.

During his impressive performance in Week 12, Metcalf set a number of personal bests. First, he became just the ninth player in franchise history to log a 1000-yard season.

Metcalf finished his outing against the Eagles logging 10 receptions on 13 targets for 177 yards and a long of 52 for a career-best night.

Finally, through 12 weeks of the NFL regular season, Metcalf now leads the league in receiving yards at 1039 on the year . . . and his best is likely yet to come.

Watch: DK Metcalf with another incredible catch

Russell Wilson puts the ball out there and somehow, someway, DK Metcalf winds up with the catch.

Check out this grab as Metcalf manages to reel in the pass despite spot-on coverage from Darius Slay.

The catch was the big play on a drive that led to a Jason Myers field goal, which gave Seattle a 20-9 lead in the fourth quarter.

WATCH: Russell Wilson throws an incredible 52-yard deep pass

In the second quarter of the Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles, former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson threw a gorge…

In the second quarter of the Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles, former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson threw a gorgeous high 52-yard throw to Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf on third and long.

The deep pass from Wilson set the Seahawks up to score two plays later on a one-yard touchdown pass from him to David Moore. The second-quarter touchdown was the first score of the game for either team. The former Badger quarterback struggled in the first quarter with the Eagles’ defense forcing two turnovers on downs.

Russell Wilson had only 56 passing yards in the first quarter, but the big pass to Metcalf opened things up for Seattle’s offense. Seahawks’ running back Chris Carson ran in for a 16-yard touchdown on the next drive to put them up 14-0 over the Eagles halfway through the second quarter.

The Seattle Seahawks have stumbled since coming back from their bye, but this big play from Wilson to Metcalf may help Seattle to pull away against the 3-6-1 Philadelphia Eagles.

It didn’t happen until four minutes into the second quarter of play Monday night, but the Seattle Seahawks were the first to score in Week 12 against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

After a scoreless first quarter, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson went deep to second-year wide receiver, DK Metcalf, for 52 mega yards to set up the scoring play in question.

Following a Chris Carson carry for no gain, Wilson turned his efforts towards wide receiver David Moore, who was able to connect with his QB for one yard and the Seattle touchdown.

The scoring drive went six plays for 68 yards in 2:41.

The Seahawks lead the Eagles with 7:36 left to play in the second quarter.

The Seattle Seahawks got off to a sluggish start against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. Russell Wilson seemed a tad off but that didn’t last into the second quarter.

Watch as Wilson connects with DK Metcalf for a 52-yard pass. Darius Slay played the Seahawks’ wideout well but it wasn’t enough.

Wilson then found David Moore on the fade for the first TD of the game.

Seahawks WR DK Metcalf chimes-in on the Carson Wentz, Jalen Hurts debate in Philadelphia

DK Metcalf chimed in on an Instagram question from Jordan Schultz and voted yes to Jalen Hurts starting for the Eagles over Carson Wentz

The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling, losers of two straight and set to host the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

Seahawks star DK Metcalf was passed over in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Eagles and likely still holding a grudge, did his best to agitate the growing quarterback controversy in Philadelphia.

ESPN’s Jordan Schultz posted a poll on Instagram asking if Wentz or Hurts should be the starter for the Eagles going forward. Fans and players responded, including two prominent Seahawks stars.

Wentz currently leads the NFL in interceptions (14), fumbles, and sacks (40).

DK Metcalf says Russell Wilson talks to him like a ‘big brother’

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf told reporters in Week 11 that quarterback Russell Wilson talks to him like a big brother.

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had a fairly mixed outing in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, increasing his production from Seattle’s first game against Arizona in Week 7 while making a few notable gaffes.

Although he had three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown, he also had two brutal drops, one of which would have given the Seahawks a touchdown instead of a field goal before the second half.

Metcalf stated in his postgame press conference that quarterback Russell Wilson still touts him as being destined for greatness.

“He always talks about me being great,” Metcalf said. “And he’s already a Hall of Famer in my eyes. I’m pretty sure in everybody else’s as well. But just trying to pick his brain sometimes, of how he got to be so humble yet hungry at the same time.

“He’s always talked to me about how I can’t do what other people do or how I carry myself in the facility and outside the facility so just a big brother conversation instead of a teammate.”

The Seahawks still have a week until their showdown against the Eagles, a team Metcalf has shown dominating performances against in the past. Hopefully, he will show out against them once again in Week 12.
