Oregon’s ‘Division Street’ NIL collective ranked as one of nation’s most ambitious

The Oregon Ducks are always near the forefront of change. Their NIL collective ‘Division Street’ ranks among the most ambitious in the nation.

Over the past couple of years, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules have changed American college sports forever. It’s been a rougher transition for some universities than others.

Groups called NIL Collectives have popped up rather quickly. Oregon’s version is called Division Street. It’s no surprise that with the U of O’s relationship with Nike, the Ducks have handled the new landscape rather well.

According to On3.com sports, some collectives have been more ambitious than others and they have been able to rank the Top 20 collectives from around the country in terms of ambition.

This is partly what they said about Division Street:

Some of the brightest and most influential sports marketing minds around have helped determine the structure and direction of this Oregon-centric collective. That has enabled Division Street, in the words of one industry source, to “operate at a high efficiency” and foster long-term sustainability.

Here are the Top 10 collectives, according to On3:

Oregon’s Division Street to unveil new NFT ‘Visions of Flight’ aimed to benefit women student-athletes

Oregon’s NIL collective Division Street will unveil a new NFT ‘Visions of Flight,’ which is aimed to benefit women student-athletes.

The Oregon Ducks are getting back into the NFT game, with a new NIL venture that is specifically aimed to benefit women student-athletes at Oregon.

The new NFT is titled “Visions of Flight” and was inspired by Sabrina Ionescu and Sedona Prince, two women at Oregon over the past decade who have done immeasurable things to further the sport of women’s basketball.

“As the 50th anniversary of Title IX draws near, we were inspired by two trailblazing University of Oregon women – Sabrina Ionescu and Sedona Prince – who regularly use their voices and platforms to shift the landscape of women’s sports,” said Division Street CEO Rosemary St.-Clair. “Visions of Flight will enable U of O women student-athletes to express their voices through creative NFT design in partnership with Lili Tae, who is a trailblazer in her own right as an artist. We believe the innovation and community of Web3 will benefit the next generation of women student-athletes.”

This is not the first NFT that Oregon’s NIL collective Division Street has launched, with the first being the exclusive “Flying Formations” that was released earlier this year, bringing in over $500,000 for the Oregon football team.

Under Division Street’s exclusive Ducks of a Feather NFT platform, the Visions of Flight collection was designed by Lili Tae in collaboration with Sedona Prince and 11 other University of Oregon women athletes — Briana Chacon (Golf), Jadyn Mays (Track & Field), Harper McClain (Cross Country), Terra McGowan (Softball), Blessyn McMorris (Acrobatics and Tumbling), Allison Mulville (Tennis), Gloria Mutiri (Volleyball), Brooke Nunerviller (Beach Volleyball), Te-Hina Paopao (Basketball), Croix Soto (Soccer), Alyssa Wright (Lacrosse).

“It’s incredibly important to me to use my platform to empower women student-athletes – now and for the next generation,” Prince said. “Being able to collaborate with Lili Tae to bring our voices to life in such an innovative way and benefit all participating women Ducks athletes is an absolute win-win. We couldn’t be more excited about this project.”

Buyers of the NFT will be able to purchase the one-of-a-kind artwork, but the artwork will be “blind minted,” meaning that each NFT will remain a surprise until melted and deposited in a buyer’s wallet.

Revenue from the sale of Visions of Flight NFTs will be split as follows:

  • 75% shared equally by participating athletes.
  • 25% retained by Division Street to offset the expenses of the project.
  • Each time a Visions of Flight NFT is resold on a secondary marketplace, a 10% royalty will be directed to a wallet created by Division Street to benefit University of Oregon student-athletes.

The Visions of Flight NFT collection goes on sale on June 30 starting at 12 pm PST at ducksofafeather.xyz.

‘Flying Formations:’ Ducks football to sell NFTs created by Nike’s Tinker Hatfield

The Oregon Ducks are getting into the NFT game, with the football team announcing that they will auction off unique designs created by Nike’s Tinker Hatfield

[jwplayer E1DOEyuS]

If you are tuned into the Oregon Ducks football social media world, you might have noticed something taking place on Wednesday morning. A bunch of the players tweeted out a video promoting a new venture that is designed to help the athletes in a new NIL venture, spearheaded by Nike legend Tinker Hatfield.

The new venture is an Oregon NFT, or non-fungible token, called ‘Flying Formations.’ It will include the sale of 120 ‘unique Duck head’ NFTs, and one shoe design, all created by Hatfield himself. According to the website, each NFT sold will come with a physical pair of special edition Air Max 1 UO sneakers.

There will be a live auction held for the digital artwork on February 20th at 10 a.m. PT on Ducksofafeather.xyz.

According to the website, the ‘Flying Formations’ will be sold to benefit the football team directly, and two-thirds of the revenue will be shared equally among players. According to the website, the sale will go according to a ‘Dutch Auction,’ where the price starts high and decreases gradually over time. At the start of the auction, the NFTs will be listed for 12.5 Ethereum, and gradually decrease to the reserve price of 1 Ethereum.

For those who are not currently in tune with the cryptocurrency world, 1 Ethereum coin is currently valued at $3,084 according to Robinhood (value taken at 9:30 a.m. PT).

This NFT venture is a part of ‘Division Street’ which is a company created by the U of O in order to help student-athletes create and monetize their personal brands.

Oregon’s NIL-focused ‘Division Street’ partners with Opendorse to create opportunity marketplace for athletes

Oregon’s NIL-focused ‘Division Street’ has partnered with Opendorse to create a marketplace for student-athletes to try and profit while in school.

The Oregon Ducks athletic department has never been anything if not innovative, and as the Name, Image, and Likeness wave takes place across the landscape, opportunities are starting to present themselves in Eugene.

After announcing the creation of ‘Division Street’ earlier in the year, a “venture aimed to help Oregon student-athletes create and monetize their personal brands,” the Ducks announced a partnership with Opendorse on Thursday, which will work with Division Street to create a marketplace for NIL opportunities for students on campus.

“Oregon athletics has become a beacon of innovation,” Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence said via Boardroom. “And so while they are the first to have an official NIL marketplace, through this relationship with Division Street, they’re certainly not going to be the last.”

Are you wondering what an NIL marketplace is, and how it can work for student-athletes going forward?

“Oregon fans and supporters will use the Opendorse-powered marketplace to book appearances, autograph sessions, video shoutouts, social media content and more,” wrote Kristi Dosh, with Forbes Magazine.

The marketplace is slated to open in the first quarter of 2022, according to the release. Until then, athletes will use Opendorse to “provide a streamlined experience for brands to coordinate and facilitate partnerships with Oregon student-athletes.”

Division Street’s Chief Athlete Officer, Sabrina Ionescu, said in the release that she is extremely excited about the partnership, and the new opportunities it will bring for college athletes looking to profit while they are still in school.

“It’s very exciting to see that Oregon athletes are fully supported by two power teams that are supercharging NIL with real-world brand-building experiences while also keeping the athletes’ voices heard throughout the experience,” Ionescu said.

As the landscape continues to grow and change, it’s been made very clear early on that the University of Oregon is all in on trying to maximize the potential for Oregon athletes to benefit while they are still in school. Though a select few will be able to go on to professional leagues when they leave Eugene, a vast number of players will only be able to capitalize on the monetary opportunities while they are here on campus. The Ducks are clear in the fact that they want to help with that.

First, they had Nike, and now they have this. Tell me again why high-end recruits wouldn’t want to come here?
