Tracking where MSU’s former coaching staff has landed:

Michigan State went under a major overhaul, obviously, when they hired Jonathan Smith to take over the Spartan football program. With the new changes to the Spartan football program, came a full overhaul within the MSU coaching staff.

While we know what the new staff looks like, it is time to look at the old staff, and where members of the old staff ended up in their new coaching positions.

Michigan State football DL coach Diron Reynolds joining Arizona State staff

With Jonathan Smith taking over at Michigan State football, there was a possibility that a few of the more well-regarded members of the staff could stay in the new regime for some continuity. We now know that MSU defensive line coach Diron Reynolds will not be one of those names sticking around.

On Sunday, it was reported by Chris Karpman of 247Sports that Reynolds will be joining the Arizona State staff in the same role, as defensive line coach.

REPORT: New Michigan State DL coach Diron Reynolds salary revealed

Last week, Michigan State football found their replacement for defensive line coach Marco Coleman when they hired Diron Reynolds. On Thursday, an FOIA request made by Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press revealed Reynold’s salary.

Reynolds was signed to a one-year contract worth $500,000. His contract timing is setup to sync with the other MSU assistant coaches who received extensions last year.

Reynolds’ contract is for $150,000 more than previous DL coach Marco Coleman.

Michigan State football hires new defensive line coach Diron Reynolds

MSU has their new defensive line coach

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker had an opening on his coaching staff after defensive line coach Marco Coleman left East Lansing to take the same position at his alma mater, Georgia Tech. It took several weeks to fill the opening, but Mel Tucker has found the right man for the job.

Tucker has hired Diron Reynolds to take over as the new defensive line coach for the Spartans.

Reynolds has spent the last seven seasons as Stanford’s defensive line coach. Prior to that, Reynolds spent time at Oklahoma and in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins, all as a defensive line coach.
