Devon Allen’s speed rating in Madden 24 laughably inaccurate

According to Madden 24, there are 9 WRs in the NFL faster than Devon Allen. We would like to politely raise an objection.

If I’m Devon Allen, I’m starting to take bets.

“I know what the ratings say, but which one of you actually thinks that you’re faster than me?”

That’s the mindset I would have after seeing the first batch of EA Sports Madden 24 ratings on Monday. The popular video game announced the ratings for wide receivers and safeties in the NFL. Allen was rated as a 60 overall, but the more glaring number is his 95 rating for speed.

That is a 95 rating for an Olympic sprinter and one of the fastest people on the planet. He has the fourth-fastest 110-meter hurdle time in the world this year, and two USATF Track and Field championship gold medals in his trophy case to go along with multiple trips to the Olympic Games.

According to Madden 24, that person is not as fast as the following players:

  • Tyreek Hill (99 Speed)
  • Jameson Williams (98 Speed)
  • Jaylen Waddle (98 Speed)
  • Marquise Brown (97 Speed)
  • Quez Watkins (97 Speed)
  • Anthony Schwartz (96 Speed)
  • Christian Watson (96 Speed)
  • Mecole Hardman (96 Speed)
  • Tyquan Thorton (96 Speed)

Line any single one of those players up against Devon Allen, and I know who I’m placing my money on.

In the past few offseasons, we’ve seen players such as Tyreek Hill or D.K. Metcalf talk about racing in the offseason to see who is the fastest. I’d like to throw Allen’s hat in the ring. It would be fun to watch him leave the others in the dust.

Eagles’ WR Devon Allen says he’s the fastest player in the NFL

Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver Devon Allen just ran the fourth fastest 110M hurdle time in the world and now says he’s the fastest player in the NFL

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen just ran the fourth fastest 110M hurdle time in the world and now says he’s the fastest player in the NFL.

“I definitely am,” Allen told TMZ Sports recently when asked who is the fastest NFL receiver.

Allen had this to say when asked about the Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill and Seahawks’ DK Metcalf in regard to their claims of being the NFL’s fastest.

“I’m not gonna roast those guys because what they did was impressive,” Allen said, “I raced Tyreek Hill when I was in high school. We raced and he smoked me when we were in high school, and DK Metcalf ran a 10.3 a couple years ago is super impressive for a guy that’s 6’4″, 6’3″, 225 [pounds]. But I think especially at the top level—top five, top 10 in the world—there’s a big gap in terms of just performance.”

The three-time U.S. national champion and two-time Olympian will soon transition back to gridiron as he attempts to make the Eagles’ 53-man roster.

The Eagles have made several roster moves that added depth to critical positions, but wide receiver was one under-the-radar spot that needed to be upgraded.

Philadelphia has one of the top pass-catching duos in the NFL with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but the depth behind the two superstars left much to be desired.

The Eagles then addressed the position in free agency, adding Olamide Zaccheaus to compete with Quez Watkins.

Howie Roseman added two intriguing undrafted free agents, Joseph Ngata (Clemson) and Jadon Haselwood (Arkansas), adding size to the roster.

With OTAs and the offseason program complete, we’re looking at the roster locks in a crowded wide receiver corp.

Philadelphia officially welcomed seven new members to their roster with their 2023 NFL draft class, and the wealth of young talent signed to the training camp roster won’t be reduced to just that group of players.

One week after the draft, the team announced the signings of 9 undrafted rookies ahead of the minicamp.

Recent undrafted free agents who’ve had game action with Philadelphia include Reed Blankenship, Britain Covey, Josh Jobe, Corey Clement, Sua Opeta, Nate Herbig, Kayode Awosika, Joe Ostman, Jack Stoll, Brett Toth, Greg Ward, Marvin Wilson, T.J.
