C.J. Stroud seen exchanging numbers with Ohio State football commit

The Buckeye brotherhood is strong. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football brotherhood is strong, even when the players aren’t yet in Columbus.

In a video shared on X, you can see former Buckeye star quarterback [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag] talking with 2025 cornerback commit [autotag]Devin Sanchez[/autotag]. The future Ohio State player gives the current Houston Texans starter his phone, as Stroud seems to be entering his number.

It’s great to see that even while Stroud is preparing for his second season in the NFLf, that he would still take the time to talk to Sanchez. Clearly the distance between the two helped foster this relationship, as the 5-star corner lives in the Houston area.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this kind of interaction from former and future Buckeyes, and it surely won’t be the last. Regardless, it’s still great to see.

Ohio State commit named defensive MVP of DCTF Super Team

Ohio State commit named defensive MVP of DCTF Super Team #GoBucks

It is no secret that Devin Sanchez is a stud and the five-star cornerback received even more accolades this week as he was named Defensive MVP of the 2024 Preseason Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Super Team. The consensus top five player in the state of Texas, he is expected to dominate this season for North Shore High School in Houston, Texas.

North Shore High School has been runner-ups in the 6A class of Texas high school football the last two seasons and expectations are high for Sanchez his senior season. The Ohio State commit also made news earlier in the season with his social media post showcasing his dominance over The Team Up North in the new College Football 25 game.

A new 5-star group: 247Sports updates its list of best players in the class of 2025

Recruiting outlet 247Sports released its updated list of five-star players in the class of 2025, led by Bryce Underwood and Tavien St. Clair.

As the school year comes to a close, 247Sports has updated its list of five-star players for the soon-to-be seniors in the class of 2025.

Thirty-two players who will be graduating next year are ranked as five-star players, the top of the blue chips of the high school football world. LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood maintained his No. 1 spot after impressing the recruiting outlet early this summer, but other spots have shifted.

Tavien St. Clair

The Ohio State quarterback commit, ranked No. 2 by 247Sports, earned lofty praise from the outlet: “No signal-caller has made more of a year-over-year improvement.”

Listed at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, St. Clair completed 70% of his passes last year, according to the outlet. He is ranked No. 16 on the 247Sports Composite rankings, which combines rankings from other recruiting leaders like Rivals and ESPN, showing the development 247Sports perceives in his game.

Underwood has long been widely considered the top prospect in the class, but St. Clair could make a run at being the top QB and player with another outstanding season.

Ohio State reps the top of the class

The Buckeyes must be feeling good seeing this updated ranking. In addition to St. Clair taking the No. 2 spot, two other Ohio State commits are among the top six players in the class.

Star cornerback Devin Sanchez, ranked No. 4, maintains his ranking as the best cornerback in the group. He dominated for North Shore last season and had five interceptions, according to MaxPreps.

He could form a dynamic CB tandem with No. 6 Na’eem Offord, also committed to the Buckeyes. A state qualifier in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, Offord can keep up with any receiver.

247Sports wrote, “There’s plenty of debate behind the scenes as to who should hold the tag of CB1.” That’s no problem for Ohio State.

Zayden Walker

Walker’s new ranking of No. 10 on 247Sports is substantially different from his Composite ranking, No. 21. According to 247Sports, Walker impressed 247Sports with a 52-foot, 5-inch shot put toss and has been recorded running a 4.5-second 40-yard dash.

His power and speed, along with a 6-foot-1, 225-pound frame, places him as the second-ranked linebacker in the class of 2025, behind Jonah Williams at No. 7.

Kaliq Lockett

Kaliq Lockett overtook Caleb Cunningham as the No. 2 receiver in the country, behind Dakorien Moore. Lockett recorded 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior and, according to 247Sports, has a 6-foot-7 wingspan. He’s now listed at No. 11 overall in class.

USC’s presence

Only three players have committed to a university in the 11-20 range of the rankings. Those three are defensive lineman Justus Terry, quarterback Julian Lewis and EDGE rusher Isaiah Gibson.

All three are committed to USC.

Terry, ranked No. 12, is listed at 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds. His ranking is lower than the composite ranking, and 247Sports wrote that it wants to see him “improve his game plan as a pass rusher” but has the potential to “be a true difference-maker.”

Lewis, at No. 16, has often been considered the second-best quarterback in the class. This new 247Sports list has it differently. That’s not for lack of performance, as he completed 66% of his passes for 3,094 yards, 48 touchdowns and two interceptions last year.

Gibson is ranked one spot below Lewis, and 247Sports loves him in comparison to peer outlets — he’s still at No. 55 on the composite. He recorded 17 sacks last season.

Massive differences between new 247Sports ranking and Composite ranking

Gibson’s ranking No. 17 on 247Sports and No. 55 on the composite is a large gap, a difference of 38 spots. But that’s not the largest disconnect between industry-wide rankings and 247Sports’ recent analysis.

Auburn commit Malik Autry, a defensive lineman, is ranked 178 on the Composite and No. 29 in the new rankings. 247Sports says this is because he’s able to beat double teams and get into run lanes at his 6-foot-5, 320-pound size. He “might need a developmental year or two, but he projects as the ideal nose,” 247Sports wrote.

The largest gap was the penultimate player ranked five-stars, Jerome Myles — No. 31 on 247Sports’ new list and No. 228 on the Composite. “He checks off box after box for us,” wrote 247Sports, citing his blistering 10.36-second run in the 100-meter dash that broke a 43-year-old record and his performance in the championship game after returning from injury.

As other outlets begin to update their rankings over summer, will we see corresponding rises for Autry and Myles? Or does 247Sports see something others don’t?

Ohio State has three five-star commits in 247Sports new rankings

Ohio State has three commits in 247Sports new rankings #GoBucks

The Ohio State football recruiting class of 2025 is shaping up to be a huge one as evidenced by the updated recruiting rankings released Wednesday by 247Sports. The Buckeyes currently have a dozen commitments and are currently ranked as the number two class in the country for the class of 2025.

The three top dogs in the class are all rated as five-stars according to the updated rankings, with quarterback Tavien St. Clair getting one of the larger bumps from being ranked the No. 6 player in the country all the way up to No. 2. It is not surprising to see him rise up the rankings, as the now five-star plays at a smaller school in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and therefore the exposure isn’t as strong. You can likely credit the rise due to his elite showings during off-season camps.

The other two five-stars are Devin Sanchez, the cornerback from Texas, and Na’eem Offord, the cornerback from Alabama.

Devin Sanchez, a 5-star defensive back, commits to Ohio State

Devin Sanchez committed to Ohio State on Saturday afternoon.

Class of 2025 recruit Devin Sanchez committed to Ohio State on Saturday at the All-American Bowl. Sanchez is a top-10 player in the country in his class.

A 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back from North Shore High School (Houston, Texas), Sanchez is the No. 6 player in the nation in the On3 Industry Rankings. He held offers from Ohio State as well as Alabama and Texas.

Sanchez’s North Shore finished their season 15-1.

Sanchez made his announcement on Saturday afternoon from the All-American Bowl. The All-American Bowl is held annually at the Alamodome (San Antonio, Texas).

Ohio State currently has the eighth-best recruiting class in the nation for the 2025 cycle according to Rivals. Last year, they had the fifth-best class in the nation.

Despite being up early, the West nearly gave up the lead (and the game) on Saturday afternoon. At point, the West was up 31-7 and seemed in full control of the game.

They ended up narrowly beating the East 31-28 in the All-American Bowl.

2025 5-Star CB commits to Ohio State over Texas A&M

2025 5-star cornerback Devin Sanchez has committed to Ohio State over Texas A&M and Alabama on Saturday afternoon.

In an attempt to make a big splash in the 2025 recruiting cycle, five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez was set to announce his widely anticipated commitment on Saturday, Jan. 6, as the No. 1-ranked CB in the cycle was set to choose between Ohio State, Alabama and Texas A&M.

After taking multiple visits to College Station on July 29 and Sept. 3, Sanchez has been on the Buckeyes’ radar for quite some time, as Sanchez announced during halftime of the 2024 All-American Bowl that he has committed to Ohio State ahead of his senior season at North Shore High School in Houston, Texas.

According to 247Sports, Sanchez is currently positioned as the 4th-ranked player in the 2025 cycle, the No. 1-ranked cornerback, and the No. 1-ranked player in the class, all while standing at a slender 6’2″ 170 pound-frame.

While the Aggies may have lost the initial recruiting battle, don’t count out head coach Mike Elko and his staff from continuing to pursue Sanchez down the stretch, especially if former North Shore cornerback Denver Harris opts to transfer back to A&M, adding another layer of influence.

BOOM! Ohio State lands 2025 Texas 5-star cornerback

The Buckeyes recruiting is on fire

Ohio State football has started off its 2025 class a bit slower than other national powers, but it’s starting to heat up.

On Saturday, Texas 5-star cornerback [autotag]Devin Sanchez[/autotag] committed to the Buckeyes over Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU and others. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 170-pound elite defender is ranked as the No. 2 player at his position and 6th overall prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

This commitment has been a long time coming, as Sanchez has long been connected with the Buckeyes and has a great relationship with secondary coach Tim Walton. His mother has praised his future position coach multiple times on social media.

Sanchez is the fifth commitment for the Buckeyes in the 2025 class, and is currently ranked as the highest one. He’s an elite prospect that will give Ohio State another option in the secondary after a great haul in the 2024 class. BIA is officially back.

2025 5-star CB Devin Sanchez has Alabama in top 3, announcing commitment at Army All-American Bowl

2025 five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez will be announcing his college commitment on Jan. 6 between three schools — Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.

One of the nation’s top cornerbacks in the 2025 recruiting class is set to announce his commitment on Jan. 6 at the Army All-American Bowl. That is 2025 defensive back Devin Sanchez.

The Texas native holds offers from over 30 schools but down to three schools. Those three are Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. Sanchez has made multiple trips to all three schools but appears to be trending toward the Buckeyes. According to On3’s RPM, Ohio State is the favorite to land Sanchez’s commitment at 96.9%.

Alabama will likely need to get Sanchez on campus before Jan. 6 to have any chance of landing his commitment. That will be something to monitor over the next few months.

Alabama is recruiting Sanchez to play cornerback. He has the prototypical size and skillset to thrive in Alabama’s secondary if he were to commit to the Crimson Tide.

As a junior at North Shore High School, Sanchez tallied 36 tackles, 18 pass breakups, and four interceptions. The Mustangs are regarded as the No. 2 team in the state, according to MaxPreps. Sanchez is one of the key players on the Mustangs roster.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Devin Sanchez’s recruiting profile.

2025 5-Star CB out of North Shore (TX) has announced his commitment date

2025 prospect, 5-Star cornerback Devin Sanchez has placed Texas A&M in his Top 3 program list while announcing his January commitment date.

Aggie fans need some good news after enduring the many negatives Texas A&M’s 2023 football season has bestowed upon their lives, and trust me, anybody outside of the sports world constantly states, “It’s just a game!” It’s okay to get upset because it just means more in the SEC, right?

In the realm of recruiting, Texas A&M’s 2024 cycle has received the most attention, mainly due to the potential effect of the 2023 campaign. Still, shifting to the 2025 class, one prospect, five-star cornerback and North Shore (TX) native Devin Sanchez, has been on the Aggies’ radar for quite some time after visiting earlier this season.

On Wednesday, Sanchez, who recently narrowed down his program list to Ohio State, Alabama, and Texas A&M, released his official commitment date on Saturday, Jan. 6, as one of the most talented cornerback prospects in several years will put a stamp on his future collegiate destination.

While the Buckeyes remain current favorites to land Sanchez, don’t count out the Crimson Tide, as head coach Nick Saban’s impressive turnaround this season was built on defense. For the Aggies, it’s been an underwhelming season, no doubt, but don’t forget that Jimbo Fisher, paired with an exceptional staff, has shocked the recruiting world the last two cycles, and let’s be honest, this roster is in desperate need of elite defensive backs.

According to On3, Sanchez is currently positioned as the 9th-ranked prospect in the 2025 cycle, the 2nd-ranked cornerback, and the 2nd-ranked player in Texas amid his junior season at North Shore (TX).
