Alshon Jeffery’s trainer provides an update on the WR’s rehab from foot surgery

Alshon Jeffery to begin running soon as he rehabs from foot surgery

Carson Wentz could have another weapon returning from injury soon and this guy looks to be in the best shape of his career.

Steven Whitehead, the trainer for Alshon Jeffery, shared a recent photo of the Eagles star wide receiver working out in the Midwest.

According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, Jeffery has no weight-room restrictions and is expected to begin running soon.

A healthy Jeffery would provide a huge boost for Wentz and the Eagles, with Doug Pederson stating several times that the former South Carolina star will have a huge role in the Eagles offense this season.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson honors George Floyd with custom cleats

DeSean Jackson honors George Floyd with custom cleats

DeSean Jackson has always been a social justice warrior and after honoring Nipsey Hussle in 2019, the Eagles star is stepping up for George Floyd.

The Eagles star once again teamed with SolesBySir to create a custom cleat featuring Floyd’s image, 8 minutes and 46 seconds (symbolizing the amount of time officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck) and the phrase “I Can’t Breathe Again.”

Jackson dropped the pictures on his Instagram.

While explaining his cause and the cleats Jackson wrote these comments: “I’m making my mark, Regardless of the feedback.” “I’m taking a stance on justice & using my platform to stand for what’s right !!”

Philadelphia Eagles make more changes to sports medicine and performance staff

Philadelphia Eagles hire Eddie Grayer as an assistant strength coach

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to be a younger, faster, and healthier team during the upcoming 2020 NFL season.

Howie Roseman has taken more steps to ensure a healthy and productive season and the Eagles have made changes to their sports medicine/performance staff, per Tim McManus of ESPN.com, by adding Eddie Grayer as an assistant strength coach and parting with assistant athletic trainers Micah Gerhart and Mark Lewis.

Grayer previously worked with the new director of sports performance Ted Rath in L.A. and played a part in the Rams being one of the NFL’s healthiest teams over the past two seasons.

Rath joined the Rams after eight seasons as a Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions assistant.

Rath and Jim Schwartz have history, but most important to the Eagles, his recent stint with the Rams resulted in LA having one of the healthiest teams in the NFL.

Rath is to like utilizing analytics, wellness checks and recovery plans to keep players healthy while using a digital questionnaire — similar to a short quiz — to stay updated on his player’s health.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie issues powerful statement on race relations after emotional team meeting

Eagles’ Jeffrey Lurie leads ‘powerful’ team meeting on race relations

Jeffrey Lurie is one of the NFL’s great owners and a man that takes his community involvement just as seriously as he does the Eagles schedule.

After a couple of days silent, the Eagles owner issued a statement on Tuesday after he took part in and lead a team discussion on racial issues alongside coach Doug Pederson on Monday in the aftermath of violence and looting following the death of George Floyd last week.

According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, Lurie asked to be involved in the team’s virtual meeting show his support and learn more about the players’ experiences and emotions during these traumatic times.

Lurie made it clear that the Eagles players are extended his family, and families deal with things together.

The Eagles as a team were led in dialogue by wide receiver DeSean Jackson, quarterback Carson Wentz, safety Rodney McLeod, defensive tackle Malik Jackson and tight end Zach Ertz before Eagles coaches joined in as well.

The coronavirus pandemic, Floyd’s death, and the impending election cycle will be among the many distractions Doug Pederson and the Eagles will have to navigate this season.

Monday and Tuesday were great starts.

Exploring the 3 biggest challenges for Eagles HC Doug Pederson as training camp approaches

Exploring the 3 biggest challenges for Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson as training camp approaches

The Philadelphia Eagles are navigating through a virtual 2020 NFL offseason that’s been filled with political strife, a pandemic, and the emergence of Jalen Hurts as a second-round draft pick.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they have one of the best head coaches in the league and a guy whose humble beginnings should allow him to lead this team back to the playoffs.

With the 2020 Philadelphia Eagles training camp over a month away, here are Pederson’s 3 biggest challenges as camp approaches.

***

1. Societal issues outside of football

Life as we knew it changed the minute the world and America was forced to address the coronavirus pandemic. After finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with the pandemic, the nation has once again been forced to deal with racial and social injustice after the country watched another police officer kill an American citizen.

Pederson will have to figure out how to keep his team focused, while sensitive to issues that society is currently presenting. He was previously able to leave the team building to Malcolm Jenkins, but now the Eagles head coach will need to be the ever-present leader more now than ever.

DeSean Jackson has a brilliant idea for what the NFL should do if no fans are in stadiums

Make this happen, NFL.

The upcoming NFL season could look a lot different, as chances are fans are not going to be allowed inside stadiums as we continue to battle the coronavirus and try to do all the right things to keep people safe and healthy.

That means television broadcasts will have to get creative in how they make the game feel like the game we’re used to watching. Some have brought up the idea of using fake crowd noise to make it feel more “normal,” which might actually be decent.

But Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has another idea on how to make things more interesting if the stadiums are empty, and it’s a pretty brilliant one – mic up all the players and let the fans hear a side of the game that we don’t normally hear on Sundays.

He laid it out really well on Lane Johnson’s podcast, here’s what he said via ESPN:

“I think they should [mike up players]. They should give fans the [insight] to see what really goes on between the white lines,” Jackson said on teammate Lane Johnson’s “Outside the Lane” podcast. “It gets crazy, bro. I know in the trenches it gets crazy. And I know on the outside it gets crazy, too, the conversations we go back and forth on.”

Now that would be some incredible television and might even be better than having jam-packed stadiums. I think all sports should mic up players all the time because it just adds so much to the viewing experience, as we saw last week during The Match with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady.

Football is such a complex and violent game that most of us think we fully understand all that goes into it but I have to believe hearing all the players talking during the games would make us realize there’s so much we don’t get.

And that would be awesome.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson thinks the NFL should have players Mic’d up if fans can’t attend games in 2020

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson wants to mic up NFL players if fans can’t attend games

NFL players love to talk trash and with fans in jeopardy of missing out on attending NFL games in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, some are coming up with clever ways to cover the quiet.

While a guest on Lane Johnson’s new podcast, ‘Outside The Lane’, DeSean Jackson discussed his journey to the NFL, worldly issues and a creative way to spice up NFL action this season if it’s played without fans.

Jackson like several others around the league suggested mic’ing up players to make the product more entertaining.

Some coaches fret having their gameplan and schemes broadcast for others to learn but it would definitely be awesome to hear skill players like Michael Thomas, Stephon Gilmore, DeAndre Hopkins, Darius Slay, and others talking trash throughout a game.

You can hear Jackson’s interview with his Eagles teammate and his suggestion (31:00 min mark) below:

Eagles WR corps lands in the top-15 of ranking of NFL’s top pass-catching units

Eagles WR corps No. 14 in a ranking of wide receiver groups by PFF

The Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2019 NFL season battered and bruised as they limped into the playoffs after a heroic effort from some lesser named players.

Now after retooling in the draft, acquiring Marquise Goodwin, while getting Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, the Eagles wide receiver has a dynamic feel to it.

Despite not having a guy catch over 500 yards last season, this is still a respected group and during a ranking of the top wide receiver corps from Pro Football Focus, the Eagles landed respectively at No. 14 on the list.

14. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
The Eagles’ receiving corps is one of the more interesting ones in the league heading into next season. No one really knows what to expect from Alshon Jeffery after a year in which he struggled with injuries, nor do they know what Desean Jackson has left, given that he has battled injuries over the last couple of seasons but remains electric when on the field. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside needs to show considerable improvement over the non-existent display he put together as a rookie, notching well under one receiving yard per route run on the year. There is talent in that group, though, along with first-round selection Jalen Reagor and their two tight ends, Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Health will be the key to not repeating the disappointment of last season.

Ertz and Goedert were included in the grade, likely raising it into the high teens rather than the low 20’s.

Pro Football Focused utilized a play-by-play grading and premium to decipher their rankings. This group will rise in the rankings quickly if JJ Arcega-Whiteside and one of the rookies are able to assert themselves early on.

Jalen Reagor named the Philadelphia Eagles most dangerous new weapon in 2020

Jalen Reagor named the Philadelphia Eagles most dangerous new weapon in 2020

The Philadelphia Eagles added several big named weapons on both sides of the ball but none more explosive than former TCU star wideout, Jalen Reagor.

The talented and speedy wideout was brought to Philadelphia to provide a DeSean Jackson explosiveness to the receiving corps.

Reagor is already respected for his athletic prowess and during a recent breakdown of dangerous new weapons in the NFL by Bleacher Report, the No. 21 overall pick fit the bill for the Birds.

The Philadelphia Eagles struggled to field healthy receivers toward the end of the 2019 season. That should be less of a concern this year with rookie first-round pick Jalen Reagor in the fold.

Reagor, DeSean Jackson, and Alshon Jeffery should forge a capable receiving corps for quarterback Carson Wentz. The rookie’s skill set perfectly complements Jackson and Jeffery.

“He’s electric with the ball in his hands, so getting it to him quickly rather than asking him to consistently make plays for himself as a ball-winner could be crucial,” NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein wrote.

With Jackson stretching the field and Jeffery playing the role of a possession receiver, Reagor should thrive as the explosive underneath option.

Reagor’s athletic ability and dynamic playmaking ability should allow him to have a quicker impact on the Eagles offense than JJ Arcega-Whiteside did in 2019. You could see Reagor eclipse Arcega-Whiteside’s rookie production in the first few games as well.

Reagor will most certainly make an immediate impact on special teams and in the screen and RPO games.
