Georgia football in top schools for 4-star in-state OL

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top four schools fro class of 2023 offensive tackle prospect Shamurad Umarov.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top four schools for class of 2023 offensive tackle prospect Shamurad Umarov. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman ranks Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan State, and LSU as his top schools.

Umarov is a four-star recruit with a busy upcoming summer. He plans to visit Michigan State on June 3-5, Georgia on June 10-12, LSU on June 17-18, and Tennessee on June 24-26. Umarov plays high school football for Denmark High School in Alpharetta, Georgia.

The four-star offensive line prospect has scholarship offers from a slew of programs across the SEC and ACC like Auburn, LSU, Georgia Tech, Miami, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and more. Umarov is the No. 17 offensive tackle in his class and the No. 20 recruit in Georgia per 247Sports.

The Denmark High School star has the size to compete right away in college football. Umarov was named first-team all-county for his efforts in 2021. Georgia offensive line coach Stacy Searels is among those leading the charge to try to land Umarov.

Kirby Smart and Georgia football have secured commitments from nine players in the class of 2023. The Bulldogs have the third-best recruiting class in the country.

Georgia has commitments from two offensive linemen: Bo Hughley, a four-star offensive tackle, and RyQueze McElderry, a three-star offensive guard.

Michigan State HC Tom Izzo meets with 2022 4-star SG Robert Cowherd

MSU Basketball head coach Tom Izzo met with Denmark High School shooting guard Robert Cowherd on Monday regarding his recruitment.

From an outsider perspective, it feels like Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was on the phone all day. Reports came out that Izzo was very active on the first day that college basketball coaches can talk to 2022 recruits. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Izzo met with 2022 4-star shooting guard Robert Cowherd on Monday, in addition to the many other prospects he was in touch with.

Cowherd currently plays for Denmark High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Rivals has him ranked as a 4-star prospect while 247Sports doesn’t have a ranking for him yet.
