Titans make 2 signings official, place Jamal Carter on IR

The Titans made a trio of roster moves on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans announced a trio of roster moves on Monday, including the confirmation of two previously reported signings.

The Titans announced the signings of defensive back Kenneth George and defensive end DeMarcus Walker. Tennessee also placed safety Jamal Carter on injured reserve.

A former second-round pick of the Denver Broncos, Walker spent the 2021 season with the Houston Texans, appearing in 13 games (two starts) and totaling two sacks and 31 combined tackles (two for loss).

George played his college ball at Tennessee and was invited to the Titans’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis after going undrafted. George joins his former college teammate Theo Jackson, who was selected by the Titans in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft.

Carter was one of many signed to a futures deal earlier this offseason. He saw the field for one game with the Titans in 2021, but only played on special teams.

George will be a longshot to make the roster, while Walker has a better chance thanks to his experience.

Titans agree to terms with DE DeMarcus Walker

DeMarcus Walker recently visited both the Titans and Colts, but is agreeing to terms with the former.

The Tennessee Titans have added another defender to their offseason roster.

According to his agent, David Canter, the Titans have agreed to terms with defensive end DeMarcus Walker. The length and financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As we shared with you on Wednesday, Walker was recently brought in for a visit after the Indianapolis Colts gave him a look on Tuesday. Score one for the good guys.

Here’s more background on Walker, per our article:

A former second-round pick of the Broncos in 2017, Walker tallied 10.5 sacks and 51 tackles in 36 games (five starts) over four seasons in Denver.

Walker spent the 2021 campaign with the Texans, playing in 13 games (two starts). The 27-year-old totaled two sacks and 31 tackles in his lone season in Houston.

In four career games against Tennessee, Walker has compiled nine tackles (two for loss), two sacks and four QB hits. In two contests versus the Titans in 2021, Walker failed to record a sack but had five tackles and one pass defended.

Walker will have a shot to make the Titans’ roster out of training camp, but the team has a fairly crowded situation upfront and on the edge, so nothing is guaranteed for the 27-year-old Florida State product.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly showing interest in former Houston Texans and Denver Broncos defensive end, DeMarcus Walker.

According to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, Walker and the Titans are slated to have a visit on Wednesday. He also notes Walker visited with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.

The Titans already have a fairly crowded situation upfront and on the edge, so Walker would have an uphill climb to make the roster if signed.

NFL draft history: Every player selected with the 51st pick since 2010

NFL Draft history: Looking at every No. 51 overall pick selected since the 2010 NFL Draft and the Eagles’ chances of landing an impact player

The buildup for the NFL draft is all about the first-round picks, but championship teams are built when the dollars aren’t guaranteed and some of the league’s all-time greats have been second round picks.

Philadelphia will have one second-round pick (No. 51 overall) in next week’s NFL draft and that selection could be used to target a wide receiver or edge rusher depending on how Thursday night turns out.

In 2019, the Eagles hit gold with Miles Sanders, but have been burdened by passing on DK Metcalf and Terry McLaurin for J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.

In 2020, Howie Roseman landed the teams current starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, and last year, a future All-Pro left guard was landed when Landon Dickerson was selected.

With the draft a little over a week away, here’s every No. 51 overall picks since 2010.

Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens came up with his second takeaway of Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens came up with his second turnover of Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16 at NRG Stadium.

On a first-and-10 from the Chargers’ 49-yard line, defensive end DeMarcus Walker forced a fumble of running back Justin Jackson. Owens scooped up the ball to give Houston their second takeaway of the afternoon.

The Texans were only able to get three points on the extra possession, but it was enough as it extended Houston’s lead 24-15 with 8:54 to go in the fourth quarter.

Owens picked off quarterback Justin Herbert in the first half, intercepting the ball at the 1-yard line to leave the Chargers empty handed after visiting Houston’s red zone.

Houston also signed defensive lineman Chris Smith and defensive back Grayland Arnold from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Texans were able to restore running back Jaylen Samuels from the COVID-19 reserve back to the practice squad on Thursday.

Texans place 3 players on COVID-19 reserve among other roster moves

The Houston Texans have placed three players on the COVID-19 reserve along with other roster moves for Week 15.

The Houston Texans have placed three players on the COVID-19 reserve in safety A.J. Moore, linebacker Christian Kirksey, and defensive end DeMarcus Walker.

All three players will miss the Jacksonville Jaguars game.

According to coach David Culley, the Texans’ protocols for COVID-19 are based on what the NFL requires.

“The changes we’ve made (are) the changes that the NFL requires us to make,” Culley told reporters Wednesday. “Usually all those changes come down from the league office, and once the league office gives us those changes, then we go by those changes. There’s really not anything else we can do. I think our people here, our staff do a great job of everything that we need to do to prevent this thing from happening.

“All of our guys are vaccinated and it’s still happening. It’s happening across the league. Obviously, this past week and these past couple of days, there’s been a little bit more outbreak.”

The Texans also designated defensive end Jordan Jenkins for return from injured reserve. Jenkins had been placed on injured reserve with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Week 11.

Houston also placed receiver Davion Davis on injured reserve with a fractured leg.

The Texans also signed running back Darius Anderson to the practice squad. Anderson went to training camp with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2020, but was cut at the end of that August. Anderson spent the 2020 season with the Indianapolis Colts on their practice squad, but was waived at the end of 2021 preseason.

Texans DL DeMarcus Walker questionable to return due to hamstring injury

Houston Texans defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker is questionable to return against the New York Jets with a hamstring injury.

HOUSTON — Defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker is questionable to return to the Houston Texans’ Week 12 match against the 2-8 New York Jets at NRG Stadium. Walker sustained a hamstring injury during the second half after recording a sack on rookie quarterback Zach Wilson— according to Texans’ PR.

Walker, 27, has established himself as a vital piece to the Texans’ defensive line. In nine games played thus far this season, Walker has notched 21 total tackles (13 solo hits), to go along with 1.0 sack on the year.

Walker is the latest Texan to be hit by an injury bug that has plagued Houston’s defensive line over the last few weeks.

During a 22-13 victory against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday, the Texans were without defensive end Jonathan Greenard due to his own foot injury. After missing one game, Greenard made his return against the Jets.
