Rams WR Demarcus Robinson suing hotel where he was robbed at gunpoint

Demarcus Robinson had $150K worth of valuables stolen from him in a robbery last year, and he’s now suing the hotel where it happened

In October, Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was robbed at gunpoint outside a Los Angeles hotel. The two thieves stole $100,000 worth of jewelry from Robinson, who thankfully was not injured in the incident.

Now, Robinson is suing the hotel where the robbery occurred. According to TMZ Sports, he filed a lawsuit against the Lexen Hotel in North Hollywood for negligence, seeking $149,500 in damages. In the lawsuit, Robinson claims there were no security guards outside the hotel or in the lobby and that the front desk associates didn’t call the police until the thieves left the scene.

More from TMZ Sports:

Robinson claims he entered the facility through a side entrance after pulling into the parking garage … but when he made his way into the lobby, two masked men pulled guns on him and threatened to murder him.

In the suit, Robinson says the men took nearly $150,000 worth of stuff off of his person during the encounter … including a luxury diamond watch and two diamond chains.

Robinson just finished his first season with the Rams after signing with them as a free agent last offseason. He caught 26 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns this season, becoming their No. 3 receiver by the end of the year.

Robinson will be a free agent in March.

4 soon-to-be free agents Saints should scout in Lions vs. Rams

Here are four soon-to-be free agents the Saints should be scouting in Lions vs. Rams, including a couple of experienced receivers:

It’s always tough to watch other teams compete in the playoffs while the New Orleans Saints are stuck watching from the couch, but these postseason games are a great opportunity to get a preview on the upcoming class of free agents. And the Saints are always creative in working around the salary cap to ensure they’ll sign some players in the spring.

With that in mind, here are some pending free agents we’d like to see in New Orleans, who are hitting the field in Sunday night’s game between the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams:

Sean McVay committed to keeping Tutu Atwell involved despite Demarcus Robinson’s emergence

Demarcus Robinson has established himself as the No. 3 receiver, but Sean McVay wants to keep Tutu Atwell involved on offense

In the last five weeks, Demarcus Robinson has established himself as the Rams’ No. 3 receiver. He’s played at least 59% of the snaps in each of the last five games after not playing more than 16% in the previous 10 games, and he’s taken full advantage of those opportunities with four touchdowns in the last four weeks.

That increase in playing time has come at the expense of Tutu Atwell, whose snaps have decreased recently. Atwell missed Week 15 against the Commanders due to a concussion but in his return on Thursday night, he played just four total snaps – his fewest all season.

Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that he’s still committed to keeping Atwell involved, suggesting his lack of playing time was partly due to Tutu returning in a short week.

“Yeah, that’s a good question. I think it was a unique set of circumstances. Demarcus has done a great job, but we’ve got to be able to find a way, and I have to be able to find a way to get Tutu involved,” McVay said. “He had the concussion, really ended up missing really the majority of the Baltimore game. And then last week on a short turnaround. So he does bring a unique skillset, something that has been beneficial to our team this year and so continuing to find ways of maximizing all of our guys is something that is my job and our job as coaches. And while it’s been awesome to watch Demarcus, he’s going to continue to do an excellent job for us. And then figuring out ways of getting Tutu involved because he does have the ability to play in a bunch of different spots in our offense is something that we’ll for sure have to figure out. And that’s something that I’m committed to for him and for our team because I think it’ll make us better.”

Atwell was off to a great start this season when Cooper Kupp was sidelined. He caught 22 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown in the first four games, but he has only 15 receptions for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the 10 games he’s played since.

Atwell’s speed can be a difference-maker at wide receiver, but he doesn’t bring the same size and route running that Robinson does, which is why Los Angeles has leaned more toward the veteran over the speedster lately.

With plenty of time to prepare for the Giants, it’ll be worth seeing how involved Atwell is next weekend in New York.

See which 6 players got game balls from Sean McVay after Rams’ big win vs. Saints

Sean McVay was fired up after the Rams’ win over the Saints, handing out 6 game balls to his players – including Matthew Stafford

There wasn’t a lot to be excited about in the Rams’ locker room last winter. They lost nine of their last 11 games, finishing the year 5-12 in what was Sean McVay’s most challenging season yet.

The mood in the locker room is much different this time around. The Rams have won five of their last six games and are in position to make the playoffs – something very few people expected after the team’s offseason departures.

McVay was jacked up after the Rams’ 30-22 win over the Saints on Thursday night, as were his players. He sent his team home with a fiery speech, while also handing out six game balls to guys who had an impact on the game.

Matthew Stafford obviously got one, as did Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams. Demarcus Robinson earned a game ball for his first-half performance, and Ernest Jones and Jordan Fuller represented the defense with standout showings.

The best part of McVay’s speech was the team’s reaction when he told them they didn’t have to come back to the facility until Tuesday.

“One more (expletive) thing: I’ll see you Tuesday!” McVay exclaimed, eliciting a roar from the players.

Stafford broke down the locker room with an expletive-filled speech of his own, reminding everyone that the Rams need to be better about finishing games.

“We gotta finish these (expletive) games off better,” he said. “We know it. All three phases. We’re (expletive) playing too damn good to make it (expletive) close at the end. Let’s (expletive) put people the (expletive) away. People are fighting for their playoff lives. That’s us too. Let’s go (expletive) win this (expletive).”

The Rams get the Giants on the road next week, a very winnable game for them. After that, it could all come down to a rematch with the 49ers in Santa Clara.

Matthew Stafford loves the separation Demarcus Robinson is creating

Demarcus Robinson has seen a larger role for the Rams in recent weeks and Matthew Stafford explained why.

Demarcus Robinson went from rarely seeing the field to having a key role for the Los Angeles Rams in recent weeks. After back-to-back productive performances for Robinson, Matthew Stafford revealed why his trust in the veteran wideout has grown in recent games.

“He is separating. He’s doing a nice job at the top of routes winning, made some contested catches,” Stafford said. “Obviously, that third-down catch was a huge one early in the game down the sideline, big play in the two-minute drive. Obviously, the touchdown was a great kind of scramble mode, secondary adjustment. He’s done a really nice job of separating, making plays, and just being himself, which is great.”

Back in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns, Robinson caught four of his five targets for 55 yards and a touchdown. According to Next Gen Stats, Robinson had an average separation of 3.5 yards in the win over the Browns, which was tied for 17th in the NFL in Week 13 with Tyreek Hill.

While Robinson only had 1.9 yards of separation in the loss to the Ravens in Week 14, he still registered three receptions for 46 yards and another score. Robinson has made some contested catches in both games, including a crucial third-down reception against the Ravens in tight coverage on a precise throw from Stafford.

Tutu Atwell remains in concussion protocol for the Rams, so there’s a chance Robinson continues to handle an expanded workload on Sunday versus the Washington Commanders. With the Commanders boasting the 32nd-ranked pass defense in DVOA, Robinson has a positive matchup to continue strengthening his rapport with Stafford.
