Alabama offers 2024 DL LJ McCray from Florida

LJ McCray was recently offered by the Alabama coaching staff. He is the son of long-time Bethune Cookman assistant coach Lawal McCray.

Alabama has recruited the Panhandle state for quite a while. One of the latest Florida prospects to receive an offer from the Crimson Tide is 2024 defensive end LJ McCray.

Interestingly enough, his father, Lawal McCray has been an assistant at Bethune-Cookman for around a decade. Despite LJ receiving extensive interest from power-five programs, the Wildcats decided to extend an offer to him.

Florida has a 38.5% likelihood to land McCray, according to On3’s RPM. However, it is still early on in his recruitment. Things can change over time as McCray will likely attract even more interest from other power-five programs as his senior season unfolds.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down LJ McCray’s recruiting profile.

Wisconsin offers three-star defensive lineman from Tennessee

The Badgers offered Hank Weber, a three-star class of 2024 defensive lineman from Brentwood, Tennessee on Monday.

The Badgers offered Hank Weber, a three-star defensive lineman from Brentwood, Tennessee on Monday. The 6-foot-4, 230 pound athlete still has one more year of high school football at Brentwood Academy before he’d make the jump to the college level as a part of the class of 2024.

Weber has now received 12 Division 1 offers, including Michigan State and Purdue within the Big Ten. With new head coach Luke Fickell and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel joining the team this offseason, the Badgers have become an even more attractive location for recruits.

So far for the class of 2024, Wisconsin has yet to reel in a commitment from a defensive player. They have however secured four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas), four-star tight end Grant Stec (Algonquin, Illinois) and three-star tight end Robert Booker (Waunakee, Wisconsin).

In-state 2024 DL Malik Blocton lands offer from Alabama

Blocton is a 2024 prospect that received an offer from Alabama on Friday, but has family that plays for Auburn.

The Alabama coaching staff recently offered 2024 defensive lineman Malik Blocton. He is the younger brother of Auburn defensive tackle Marcus Harris.

Blocton plays for Pike Road High School in Pike Road, Alabama. That is the same high school that Alabama defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry played for. Another notable player that played there is Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins.

Blocton seemed rather enthralled after receiving an offer from the Tide. When he was asked by Touchdown Alabama Recruiting about his reaction to the offer, Blocton had this to say:

“It is kind of surreal because I have been wanting to play for him (Nick Saban) since I was a little kid. For him to come all the way down to my school to offer me, it is crazy to me.”

At this time, Auburn is the clear-cut favorite to land Blocton. According to On3’s RPM, he is favored to land at Auburn at 51.9% likelihood. He has also made six trips to Auburn. He has visited Alabama twice but will likely be on campus in the near future. Alabama will likely recruit him until National Signing Day.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Malik Blocton’s recruiting profile.

He is listed at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, according to 247Sports. During his sophomore season at Pine Tree High School, he tallied 35 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.

Currently, Alabama has one defensive line commit in the 2024 recruiting class. That is four-star edge rusher, Sterling Dixon. The addition of Evans would be welcomed by the Alabama coaching staff. It will be interesting to see if the Tide can pry him away from the Lonestar state.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Evans’ recruitment and other Alabama football recruiting news.

2024 DL Justin Scott lists Alabama as a finalist in his recruitment

2024 defensive lineman Justin Scott released his top-eight schools on Sunday evening. Alabama made the cut to land the elite, Illinois native.

Alabama’s coaching staff has made it clear that they want to land 2024 defensive lineman Justin Scott. The Illinois native listed the Tide as one of his top eight schools on Sunday evening.

Scott was offered by the Tide back in October. He has a monstrous frame at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds. That is arguably the ideal stature to compete early at the next level. Considering that he is currently a junior, he still has time to grow and develop.

Interestingly enough, 247Sports’ Alan Trieu compared Scott to former Alabama defensive lineman Christian Barmore. That is quite the compliment considering Barmore was a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. If he is reminiscent of Barmore, they could explain why Alabama is so high on him.

As of right now, the presumed leader to land Scott is Notre Dame at 66.8% likelihood, according to On3’s RPM.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Justin Scott’s recruiting profile.

Alabama DL Justin Eboigbe posts Tweet possibly signaling his return

Could Justin Eboigbe return for the 2023 season?

Eboigbe totaled 59 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss in four seasons with the team. His best season came in 2020 when he tallied 19 tackles and an interception.

If he can come back healthy, he will be a key piece to the Tide’s defensive line next season. He has a lot of experience and knowledge of the defense that Alabama will run next season. He will likely be alongside Jaheim Oatis, Tim Smith, and Jamil Burroughs. It will be interesting to see how he performs in his last season at the Capstone.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Eboigbe’s college career as well as other Alabama football players.

2024 defensive lineman David Stone recently released his top schools. Alabama made the cut as a finalist in his recruitment.

On Friday, 2024 defensive lineman David Stone released his top ten schools and the Tide made the cut as a finalist.

Stone is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. However, he transferred to IMG Academy to play for one of the nation’s most prestigious high school football programs in the country.

As a sophomore, he tallied 52 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. His strength and stature are two traits that can set him apart at the next level. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment unfolds.

2023 5-star DL James Smith officially signs with Alabama

2023 five-star defensive lineman James Smith made things official as he signed with the Tide on Wednesday afternoon. He chose Alabama over other programs like Auburn, Florida, and Georgia.

It came down to the wire, but Alabama won over five-star defensive tackle James Smith. The native of Montgomery, Alabama, chose the Tide over other programs such as Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Ohio State and Alabama State. Smith will team with high school teammate Qua Russaw in Tuscaloosa.

Smith is the No. 18 recruit in the country on the 247Sports’ composite. He is listed as 6 feet, 3 inches and 310 pounds. There is a strong chance Smith sees early playing time with interior defensive linemen Byron Young and DJ Dale both entering the NFL draft. It would be interesting to see him play alongside nose tackle Jaheim Oatis.

The Tide are signing three other defensive linemen in this class: Jordan Renaud, Edric Hill and Hunter Osborne. Alabama defensive line coach Freddie Roach may have missed on fellow in-state recruits Peter Woods and Kelby Collins. However, he may have gotten the one that almost every team in America wanted: James Smith.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover the early signing period and which prospects will be joining the Crimson Tide.
