Notre Dame Makes Yet Another ’21 Defensive Lineman a Scholarship Offer

Thursday morning saw David Abiari, a 6-4, 240 pound defensive end from Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas announce his scholarship offer from Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame staff.

Rinse, repeat.

For the fourth straight day Notre Dame has made at least one scholarship offer to a defensive player in the 2021 recruiting class.

Thursday morning saw David Abiari, a 6-4, 240 pound defensive end from Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas announce his scholarship offer from Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame staff.

ESPN ranks Abiari the 289th best player in the 2021 recruiting class while 247Sports ranks him at 318.

Abiari has already received offers from the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin and others while he announced an offer from Northwestern shortly after announcing the Notre Dame offer early Thursday.

Julian Okwara’s Notre Dame career didn’t end the way anyone wanted as he suffered a leg injury at Duke in early November but his future still remains plenty bright at the next level.

More on that in a moment but Okwara took a moment Sunday to simply say “thank you” to the entire Notre Dame community for his last four years.

Okwara finishes his Notre Dame career with 14.5 career sacks, three forced fumbles and a pair of interceptions.

In Pro Football Focus’s latest NFL Mock Draft they had Okwara going in the late first round, citing that he figures to be loved at the scouting combine.

Defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney, Ziggy Ansah uncertain for Sunday

The Seattle Seahawks could be down a couple of defenders against the Cardinals if Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah are unable to play.

The Seattle Seahawks could be down a couple of defensive ends Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals if Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah are unable to return from injuries. Both players were inactive Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers.

Clowney has been battling a sports hernia (core) issue over the last few weeks of the season. Opting not to undergo surgery at this point, he’s been pushing through the pain. But last week, Clowney was also sidelined by the flu, unable to even travel with the team.

As for Ansah, he’s still been fighting a neck injury.

Coach Pete Caroll did say both defenders would get some practice in starting Wednesday, however.

“I can’t tell you, that I don’t know,” Carroll responded when asked if Clowney and Ansah would be ready to suit up Week 16. “We’ve got to get through the week and see what happens. They are both going to get work today and we’ll just see how we progress and see if it’s right for those guys to play.

“I’m hoping – we’d love to get get them both back, but I can’t tell you right now.”

Ansah and Clowney have a number of days to prove they are ready to roll before the final injury report of the week comes out on Friday.

Aaron Armitage is listed as a four-star recruit from Blair Academy in New Jersey has already been given offers from several powerhouses including Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Florida and plenty of others. He made it known to the world Monday that Notre Dame was in.

Armitage is listed as 6-4 and 242 pounds and is easy to spot on film.

The current Notre Dame commitment list in 2021 is very-highly regarded but only has one defensive player on it, Gabriel Rubio, a defensive tackle from Saint Peters, Missouri.
