Irish in the NFL: Las Vegas Raiders Bring Back Te’Von Coney

the Raiders announced they would be bringing back former Notre Dame star Te’Von Coney on a reserve/futures contract

The Oakland Raiders officially became the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday as an incredible history officially came to an end with a new era for both the franchise and the NFL now set to begin.

Friday saw just slightly less significant news as the Raiders announced they would be bringing back former Notre Dame star Te’Von Coney on a reserve/futures contract.

Coney didn’t make the Raiders roster in 2019 but was a part their practice squad after being signed as an un-drafted free agent last spring.

Coney had a monstrous final two seasons at Notre Dame recording 239 tackles, 21 which were for loss between 2017 and 2018, two years the Fighting Irish went a combined 22-4.

Jaylon Smith officially signs with Packers

How is this for a landing spot?

Former Notre Dame star Jaylon Smith was released earlier this week by the Dallas Cowboys but wasn’t out of work long.  After speculation Wednesday had him connected to the Green Bay Packers, Smith officially signed with the organization on Thursday.

Smith will wear number nine for the green and gold and make his Packers debut on Sunday as Green Bay travels to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Smith had played in all 68 regular season Cowboys games since returning from his brutal knee injury that he suffered in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State.

Notre Dame in NFL: Highlight’s and photo’s of Week 11 action

Take a look at the best performances from Notre Dame Football alumni in the NFL during Week 11 action.

Another week in the NFL, another touchdown for Chase Claypool. He was among the best former Irish performers during the NFL’s Week 11. Take a look at Notre Dame Football’s past stars efforts this past week in The League.

Must See: Notre Dame in NFL – Chase Claypool’s 10th Touchdown

If it feels like it’s every week we have a post about something ridiculous Chase Claypool has done in his rookie season with the Steelers it’s because we do.

If it feels like it’s every week we have a post about something ridiculous Chase Claypool has done in his rookie season with the Steelers it’s because we do.

And we post something pretty much every week because pretty much every week he gives us another ridiculous highlight or two leave us even more impressed.

Claypool was at it again on Sunday as the Steelers improved to 10-0 on the season, remaining the only unbeaten team in the NFL with a 27-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With the game tied at three midway through the second quarter, Ben Roethlisberger threw a fade to Claypool who went out and got it for 32 yards and a score, which happened to be his tenth of the year.

Through just ten games Claypool’s ten touchdowns tie him for the 70th most in the storied history of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The 10-0 start is also the best start in franchise history as Claypool and the rest of the Steelers will look to make it 11-0 on Thanksgiving night as they host their biggest rival, the Baltimore Ravens.

Notre Dame in NFL: Watch Claypool’s two touchdowns for Steelers vs. Bengals

Chase Claypool scored twice on Sunday giving him nine touchdowns already in his NFL rookie season for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chase Claypool wasted no time bursting onto the scene with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the rookie receiver from Notre Dame was an immediate part of the offense starting in Week 1.

And that high starting point has only grown as the year has gone on for the now 9-0 Steelers after Claypool scored another pair of touchdowns on Sunday in a 36-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The first came with the Steelers leading 22-7 late in the third quarter and pretty much put things out of reach.

Roughly nine minutes later in the action Claypool was found again by Ben Roethlisberger for another score to extend the lead to the eventual final score, 36-10.

Claypool’s two touchdowns give him nine total scores on the year, good for a tie for the third most in the entire NFL as he trails only Dalvin Cook and Tyreek Hill in total touchdowns scored.

Claypool helped Notre Dame win their final six games of the 2019 season and has helped Pittsburgh win their first nine games of 2020.  The last game he played was over a full calendar year ago when the Irish fell in blowout fashion at Michigan in late October.

Manti Te’o signs with Chicago Bears

After getting a workout with them last week, Manti Te’o has inked a deal to join the Chicago Bears. Details here.

One of the most decorated players in the long history of Notre Dame football has inked a new deal with the Chicago Bears on Tuesday as Manti Te’o signed with their practice squad.

The former Notre Dame standout and Heisman Trophy runner-up helped lead the Fighting Irish to a BCS Championship Game appearance in 2012 while racking up countless other awards that season.

Te’o went on to be drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers and played four seasons there before spending parts of the last three seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Te’o has been credited with 307 tackles in his NFL career with a career high 83 coming in 2015.  He has also pulled down a pair of interceptions at the professional level.

Former Irish star WR Fuller V emerges on NFL’s opening night

Is this the year the former Notre Dame star Will Fuller V finally stays healthy and becomes WR1?

It didn’t start out all that well for former Notre Dame star wide receiver Will Fuller V. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson looked his way early, threw a very catchable ball but Fuller V dropped it.

It got much better from there, as Watson didn’t let the drop effect his confidence in Fuller V. He would later make up for it and have a very solid game, showing why the Texans shipped off DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.

The final line for Fuller V was 8 receptions for 118 yards, but he didn’t find the end zone. Watson targeted Fuller V ten times, double what any other receiver got. Fuller V is going to get plenty of opportunities to show why he was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. He just needs to stay healthy and we could be seeing Fuller V one the verge of breaking out and becoming a WR1.
