Blue-chip defensive lineman visiting Florida this weekend

This 4-star defensive lineman is in the midst of a Gainesville visit this weekend.

This weekend, the Florida football program hosts a handful of prep recruits as the Orange and Blue game next Thursday quickly approaches. Among those making a stop to visit Billy Napier and his staff is four-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans out of Longview (Texas) Pine Tree, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman.

“I am going on Friday,” Evans divulged. “I am going to be there Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday. That will be my first time ever there. I want to get out there and see a practice, see the city, and just see how they operate.”

The 6-foot-4-inch, 260-pound lineman’s recruitment has been spearheaded by both defensive line coach Sean Spencer and recruiting staffer Joe Hamilton.

“Coach Spencer was the coach who offered me, but Coach [Joe] Hamilton kind of led it all off and got it all started,” he told Swamp247. “Me and Coach Spencer have talked a little bit since the offer, but nothing crazy. He just basically has been saying how he wants to get me down there for a visit. He said he will talk to me more in person.”

The coveted defensive lineman has already made a few school visits back in January and most recently met up with the LSU Tigers in March. The other schools he says he is also keeping tabs on are the TCU Horned Toads, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Oregon Ducks.

Evans is ranked No. 155 overall and No. 21 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 125 and 16, respectively. The Texas A&M Aggies hold 247Sports’ lone crystal ball prediction and are also the overwhelming favorite in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, earning a 97.9% chance of signing him, while the Texas Longhorns sit alone in second at 1.9%.

Texas A&M defensive line commit wants to come back to LSU after spring practice visit

The Tigers hosted Dealyn Evans for an unofficial visit this past weekend.

The Tigers could be making progress toward what would be a massive flip in the 2024 recruiting class.

This past weekend, LSU hosted Texas A&M defensive line commit [autotag]Dealyn Evans[/autotag] for a visit to check out spring practice. According to a report from On3’s Billy Embody (subscription required), Evans had a productive visit and would like to make a return trip once the team hires a new defensive line coach, though he had positive things to say about interim [autotag]Gerald Chatman[/autotag].

He said that he will likely use that second trip to determine whether the Tigers receive one of his five official visits. He plans to return to College Station for the Aggies’ spring game, and he has visits set with Alabama (April 22) and TCU (April 29). He also said he plans to visit Florida.

The Longview (Tex.) Pine Tree prospect is a four-star recruit and ranks as the No. 125 player nationally (and No. 16 defensive lineman) per On3’s Industry Rankings.

Texas A&M commit to schedule visit Florida ‘ASAP’

Billy Napier isn’t letting a commitment get in the way of his recruiting, as a top Texas A&M commit is expected to make the trip to Gainesville very soon for a visit.

DJ Lagway, the cornerstone of Florida’s 2024 recruiting class, is considered one of the best players in Texas. It looks like Billy Napier is keen to continue to develop the Texas to Florida pipeline, with the second-year coach bringing in Texas A&M commit [autotag]Dealyn Evans[/autotag] for a visit to Gainesville.

The Longview, Texas, native received an offer from the Orange and Blue on Wednesday setting up a future trip to Gainesville. Speaking to On3’s Gators Online, Evans mentioned how he liked Florida growing up, and that he had been waiting for the Gators’ offer for a while. He even mentioned Lagway specifically, mentioning how close he and the No. 3 QB in the 2024 class are.

The 6-foot-4-inch junior committed to the Aggies last summer, but that hasn’t stopped top programs from going after the 265-pound lineman. On the Florida side, position coach Sean Spencer and recruiting staffer Joe Hamilton have spearheaded Evans’ interactions with the Gators.

With such a high-profile player in the state of Texas, programs like SMU, Kansas State, TCU, and others are also in pursuit of Evans. Of those programs, Texas A&M and Texas are the biggest threats to the Gators’ pursuit, as both programs will be in the SEC when Evans plays his college ball.

Evans is the No. 16 ranked defensive lineman in the country, according to the On3 Consensus. He would be a major addition to a 2024 Florida class that is already the No. 3 class in 2024 according to On3’s 2024 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings. They are currently behind Georgia and Alabama in those rankings.

2024 4-Star and Aggie commit Dealyn Evans makes a big jump in 247Sports’ Top247 rankings

in the newest set of 247Sports’ Top247 for the 2024 cycle, Aggie commit and 4-Star DL Dealyn Evans makes a huge jump

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is still in its early stages, with the highest-rated prospect in the signing class being 4-Star Defensive lineman Dealyn Evans, as of Tuesday afternoon, Evans, along with a number of other recruiting prospects made huge jumps in 247Sports’ Top247 rankings.

Evans, who stands at 6-4, 260 lbs, was previously ranked as the 145th player in the class, rose all the way to No. 70, as the Longview, Texas native is now ranked as the 10th Defensive lineman and 12th player in Texas. For the Aggies, Evans’ rise is a potential sign of things to come for Texas A&M’s recruiting efforts, as it was reported earlier this month that Evans has been trying to recruit fellow 2024 prospects to visit the Aggies.

Other prospects and recruiting targets who rose include 5-star CB Kobe Black (No. 15), 5-star EDGE Colin Simmons (No. 20), 4-star CB Selman Bridges (No. 44), 5-star WR Micah Hudson (No. 16), and 5-star WR Terry Bussey (No. 17).

LSU offers 4-star Texas A&M DL commit

The Tigers will look to flip the top 200 defensive lineman from their division rival.

[autotag]Dealyn Evans[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 260-pound, four-star defensive lineman in the class of 2024 from Longview, Texas, where he plays for Pine Tree High School. The Pine Tree Pirates finished the 2022 season 2-8 and 2-4 in region play.

Evans is currently committed to Texas A&M but there is a lot of time for him to change his mind.

Film Analysis: Evans is a big guy that plays as a defensive end in the Pirates 3-4 defensive scheme. He does a great job of using his hands to shed blocks and get into the backfield with ease. We’ll see how his recruitment plays out.

2024 DL Texas A&M commit Dealyn Evans posted to Twitter that he would be visiting Alabama for Junior Day this weekend.

Alabama football has a big weekend coming up with Junior Day on the schedule. The Tide are expecting numerous recruits to be in town. One of those will be 2024 defensive lineman Dealyn Evans.

Evans has been committed to Texas A&M since July 31. However, he is exploring his options and Alabama is in the mix.

He is listed at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, according to 247Sports. During his sophomore season at Pine Tree High School, he tallied 35 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.

Currently, Alabama has one defensive line commit in the 2024 recruiting class. That is four-star edge rusher, Sterling Dixon. The addition of Evans would be welcomed by the Alabama coaching staff. It will be interesting to see if the Tide can pry him away from the Lonestar state.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Evans’ recruitment and other Alabama football recruiting news.

2024 Texas A&M commit Dealyn Evans receives offer from Alabama

Alabama’s coaching staff has not been shy to extend offers to prospects committed to other schools. They recently offered Texas A&M commit and 2024 DL Dealyn Evans.

Over the years, Alabama has been able to flip prospects that have been committed to various different programs around the SEC. That appears to be what the coaching staff will try to do with 2024 Texas A&M commit Dealyn Evans recently receiving an offer from the Tide.

The Texas native has been committed to the Aggies since July 31. However, he hasn’t entered his senior year of high school. There is time for the Alabama coaching staff to make a push to flip his commitment.

The Tide have had success recruiting the state of Texas in recent years. We will see if that continues into the 2024 recruiting class with a prospect like Evans.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Dealyn Evans’ recruiting profile.

2024 Defensive lineman Dealyn Evans commits to Texas A&M

2024 recruiting is off to a great start!

Texas A&M has received its first commitment for the 2024 recruiting class, receiving a commitment from 4-Star defensive tackle Dealyn Evans out of Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas. Evans is the 15th-ranked defensive tackle prospect, and 33rd-ranked prospect in Texas according to the On3 consensus rankings. Evans had taken 3 visits to College Station dating back to early June, with his last unofficial coming Saturday, the date for the annual Aggie recruiting pool party. Nabbing Evans for 2024 is the cherry on top of an otherwise extremely productive weekend

Speaking of productivity, the weekend started off with a bang after the Aggies received commitments from two top 2023 prospects, which included No.1 ranked Linebacker Anthony Hill and Top 100 ranked Safety Dalton Brooks. In addition to both big-time commitments, current Alabama commit Tony Mitchell was one of the surprise visitors throughout the weekend, almost upending the surprise news on Thursday that heralded 2023 Quarterback Malachi Nelson would be taking a visit to College Station, arriving on Friday.

Standing at 6-4, 265lbs while going into his junior season at Pine Tree, Evans has a couple more seasons to continue adding healthy weight, and refining his skillset on the defensive line until it’s time for him to finally suit up for the maroon and white. Whoop! Gig ‘Em, Dealyn!
