Michigan football a finalist for 2024 four-star edge defender

This dude looks like a stud!

Michigan continues to make big waves in the 2024 recruiting world. The Wolverines have been named finalists for several big named players in the recent weeks, and big-time recruits will be taking official visits to Michigan in the month of June.

On Wednesday, Michigan became a finalist for another prospect. Daniel ‘DD’ Holmes announced the Wolverines are in his final six teams that he would be focusing on. Holmes has said he hopes to make a decision before his senior season begins.

Florida State, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, and Rutgers rounded out the six.

The Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga edge defender stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 240-pounds.

Looking at the 247Sports Composite, Holmes is the 279th-ranked recruit in 2024 and the second-ranked prospect in the D.C. area.

Holmes talked about each of his top schools to Chad Simmons with On3. He told Simmons that Michigan was in on him early, but talks slowed down. Now Michigan has re-entered the conversation and things are going great again.

“Things have really picked back up with Michigan. They were on me heavy on early, then it slowed down some and they have come back in recently. Over the last month, Michigan has jumped back in with fire. They got me and my mom on a Zoom call to inform us about academics and that was big. Michigan is a big brand of football too. Coach Mike Elston has been talking to me a lot.”

There is no true intel on which team may be leading for Holmes. There are zero Crystal Ball predictions in on Holmes by 247Sports and if you look at the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State leads with a 29.7% chance — and PSU didn’t make his final six.

More information will likely come once Holmes takes all of his official visits this summer to each of the schools.

Blue-chip EDGE recruit includes Florida football in top 6 schools

Four-star EDGE from the nation’s capital is feeling good about the Gators.

The summer months are just around the corner and the 2024 recruiting class is at the forefront of every school’s focus. With around 100 days remaining before the start of the 2023 schedule, coaching staffs are now balancing their responsibilities between the current student-athletes on the roster and potential future Gators who currently play at the high school level.

On Thursday morning, four-star edge defender Daniel “DD” Holmes out of Washington D.C. Gonzaga released his list of top six schools through On3’s Hayes Fawcett via Twitter. Along with Florida, the 6-foot-6-inch, 240-pound defender also included the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Michigan Wolverines, Florida State Seminoles, South Carolina Gamecocks and Maryland Terrapins.

“Great football on the highest stage with great people!” Holmes told Fawcett in regards to the Gators.

Holmes is ranked No. 292 overall and No. 32 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 292 and 20, respectively. Despite the recent news, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Penn State Nittany Lions with a 29.7% chance of signing him, followed by FSU, (26.0%), Maryland (2.0%) and the Virginia Cavaliers (1.7%).

Georgia football offers 4-star Washington D.C. defensive lineman

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to Daniel ‘DD’ Holmes

The University of Georgia has offered a scholarship to Daniel “DD” Holmes, an elite defensive line recruit in the class of 2024.

Holmes is ranked as a four-star recruit. He plays high school football for Gonzaga High School and is the No. 3 recruit in the Washington D.C. area.

Holmes is the No. 245 recruit in the class of 2024. He is ranked the No. 26 defensive lineman in his class.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound defensive end also plays basketball for Gonzaga High School. Daniel Holmes has excellent pursuit and effort. He chased down multiple wide receivers on screen passes in his high school tape. Holmes is sturdy against the run and attacks the football.

However, it is uncertain what position Holmes will play in college. He could fit as a 3-4 defensive end or as an outside linebacker in Georgia’s defensive scheme.

Holmes has recent scholarship offers from Florida, Minnesota, Syracuse and Oregon.

The four-star defensive lineman announced his scholarship offer from Georgia football outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe via Twitter:
