Major update suggests Buckeyes might be out on five-star tackle

While there’s always hope that the Buckeyes can figure a way to pull in a recruit, they may be on the outside looking in for tackle David Sanders Jr.

Landing a five-star caliber player is never an easy journey in big-time college football.

Recruiting often takes place years before they actually commit, and considering there are only a few dozen players at that level in each class, one typically has to be a high-profile program to bring them in as well.

The Ohio State football program has had tremendous success over the last decade adding the best of the best from the high school ranks, and the 2025 recruiting class will be no different as three of the six four recruits have already committed to Columbus.

However, there’s another name to keep an eye on as his decision should be coming in soon, and it could help change the college landscape.

David Sanders Jr., from Charlotte, NC, is set to make his decision soon, and On3 analyst Josh Newberg is changing his prediction. He now believes Tennessee is the frontrunner to land the nation’s No. 3-overall prospect.

“But I’ve also at times had my best guess on Ohio State. And then even early in the process, you looked at Georgia. I never had Clemson in the one-hole (for Sanders). Who knows, maybe we’re sleeping on Georgia. But my best guess today would be Tennessee,” Newberg said.

Sanders is the best offensive lineman in the class.

The Buckeyes were thought to be the premier target for him, but it appears Tennessee, and even Clemson, are gaining steam while the Buckeyes are starting to take a backseat.

Ohio State has one four-star recruit on the offensive line for the Class of 2025, but otherwise is looking pretty thin at the group. Sanders Jr. would be a huge get for the Buckeyes.

Nebraska offers top tight end in 2026 a scholarship

Kendre Harrison is a five-star tight end from Reidsville, NC.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have made an offer to one of the top recruits in the class of 2026. Kendre Harrison is a five-star tight end from Reidsville, NC.

Harrison is ranked as the country’s No. 1 tight end prospect and the state of North Carolina’s No. 1 player. He recently made headlines after announcing he was transferring from Reidsville High to Providence Day.

Providence Day is the home of five-star offensive tackle prospect David Sanders Jr. Sanders is a top target for Nebraska in the class of 2025 and was recently welcomed to campus by Matt Rhule and Dylan Raiola.

Last season, he recorded 62 catches for 940 yards and 16 touchdowns. As a defensive end, he had 76 tackles, 17.0 for loss, and 9.0 sacks.

It’s unknown if Harrison will continue to play defensive end now that he has transferred.

Class of 2026 5-star tight end Kendre Harrison transfers his high school

Kendre Harrison announces a big transfer to a North Carolina powerhouse.

One of the top prospects in the class of 2026, Kendre Harrison, is transferring for his final two years of high school football.

Harrison announced on Thursday that he will be joining Charlotte Providence Day (Charlotte, North Carolina). Harrison is a five-star prospect who is ranked the third-best prospect in his class by ESPN for football.

And, he is also a four-star basketball player as well according to ESPN.

He is a 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end (and defensive end) who is also a standout on the basketball court.

Last year for Reidsville (Reidsville, North Carolina), he had 62 catches for 940 yards and 16 touchdowns in 15 games.

Understandably, Harrison strong offer list that includes Alabama, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wake Forest among others. He was most recently offered by Nebraska.

Charlotte is a powerhouse program that finished last year 12-1. At Charlotte, Harrison will join five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr., who is the second-ranked player in the class per Rivals.

David Sanders Jr. recent social media post will get Ohio State fans excited

We like the looks of that! #GoBucks

The biggest prize on the recruiting trail is poised to make his college decision in just under three weeks. Ohio State has been in the mix for David Sanders Jr. for quite some time now with some even naming OSU the favorite to land the coveted offensive lineman. However, recent visits to Tennesee and Nebraska have put that into question.

In the world of recruiting, fans will cling to whatever glimmer of hope they can find. And there is hope to be found in the young man’s personal Instagram account. In one of his most recent posts, Sanders can be seen sporting an Ohio State armband.

While it’s not all that unusual for kids to wear gear from schools that are recruiting them, it sure is nice to see as a Buckeye fan. It may mean absolutely nothing, but with just a few short weeks away from his decision date, it’s clear Ohio State is still firmly on Sanders’ mind.

Sanders will pick between Ohio State, Georgia, Nebraska, and Tennessee on August. 17.
