Mitch Morse among multiple Bills players in walking boots post-Browns win

A couple of walking boots were put into use by the #Bills after their win over the #Browns:

The Buffalo Bills did not escape their win over the Cleveland Browns without being dinged up.

In Week 11, the Bills (7-3) took the 31-23 win over the Browns (3-7). But there were multiple players spotted in walking boots following the victory.

According to the team’s radio partner, WGR-550, starting center Mitch Morse was among three players requiring the foot assistance. The two others were defensive end AJ Epenesa and offensive lineman David Quessenberry:

Of the three, only Epenesa’s was officially announced by the team. At the end of the first quarter, he was questionable to return with an ankle injury. He was later ruled out.

Epenesa’s issue might be the most concerning in terms of depth as defensive end Greg Rousseau has now missed two-straight games with his ankle injury. If Morse can’t go, it’s possible that Ryan Bates moves over from guard to center.

While a few injuries are particularly disappointing considering the short week as the Bills’ next game is on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions, there’s still time. We have to wait for the news to come.

During his weekly press conference on Monday following a Sunday game is when Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott typically updates injuries. Bills Wire will provide updates on all injuries when information becomes available.

Bills vs. Packers: 3 key matchups in Week 8

#Bills vs. #Packers: 3 key matchups in Week 8:

The Buffalo Bills will host the Green Bay Packers in their upcoming Week 8 game.

Even with it being a prime-time showdown, it will still be the games, within the game, that will make all the difference.

Here are three key matchups to watch during Sunday’s Bills-Packers meeting:

Bills sign former Titans RT David Quessenberry

Quessenberry is the second 2021 Titans starting offensive lineman to sign with the Bills this offseason.

Former Tennessee Titans right tackle David Quessenberry has signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced on Thursday. The financial terms of the agreement are not yet know.

Quessenberry is the second 2021 Titans starting offensive lineman to sign with the Bills this offseason, joining left guard Rodger Saffold, who inked a one-year, $6.25 million deal after getting cut earlier this offseason.

The 31-year-old was not tendered by the Titans back in March, making him an unrestricted free agent.

A former sixth-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2013, and a cancer survivor, Quessenberry has appeared in 35 games (23 starts) since 2017.

In 2021, Quessenberry earned the starting right tackle role in Tennessee, but struggled in pass protection and allowed a league-high 11 sacks. He was a good run-blocker, though, posting a PFF grade of 89.7 in that area.

The San Jose State product also offers some versatility with his ability to play inside and out.

With Quessenberry signing elsewhere, the Titans are guaranteed to have a new starter at right tackle in 2022, which was pretty much expected since the end of the 2021 campaign.

Tennessee’s 2021 second-round pick, Dillon Radunz, is in line to take over the role, but remains a major question mark thanks to a lack of experience. The Titans could also opt to take a tackle in the 2022 NFL draft.

Bills sign OL David Quessenberry to one-year deal

#Bills sign OL David Quessenberry to one-year deal:

The Buffalo Bills signed offensive lineman David Quessenberry to a one-year deal. The team announced the move on Thursday.

Quessenberry, 31, spent the past four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He was originally a sixth-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2013 out of San Jose State.

While stick around the NFL for several years now, Quessenberry only got his first dose of starting time last season. He started all 17 games with the Titans, and preformed very well according to Pro Football Focus.

The football analytics outlet graded Quessenberry an impressive 80.6 overall grade last season, amongst their best marks.

Titans not tendering OL David Quessenberry

The Titans will not place a tender on their 2021 right tackle.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly decided not to place a tender on 2021 starting right tackle, David Quessenberry, who is now an unrestricted free agent. The news comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Quessenberry, 31, played every single snap for the Titans, serving as the team’s starting right tackle. While he was good as a run-blocker, Quessenberry struggled in pass protection, allowing a league-high 11 sacks.

I was fine with Tennessee bringing him back as a depth option but not as a starter, and while that’s still possible, this move makes it less likely he’ll return to Nashville in 2022.

As far as options to replace Quessenberry are concerned, the Titans could see a competition between Dillon Radunz and newly-signed Jamarco Jones. We certainly wouldn’t rule out another option being brought in, and one that hopefully gives more hope than the aforementioned two.

6 Titans who saw their stock fall the most in 2021

Anthony Firkser is one of six Titans who saw their stock fall the most in 2021.

Similar to the five Tennessee Titans whose stock rose, we’ll also be breaking down several players who saw their stock drop in 2021.

Coming into the season, Anthony Firkser had the opportunity to grab regular snaps as the Titans’ No. 1 tight end. Before the season, he was one of Mike Vrabel’s four offseason award winners, earning a parking spot at training camp next to the Titans head coach.

However, Firkser failed to live up to the hype and take the next step during the 2021 season, leaving a glaring void at the tight end position all season long.

The 26-year-old played in 15 games, including one start, but saw fewer targets and, therefore, receptions than 2020. In all, Firkser hauled in 34 receptions for 291 yards and two touchdowns.

Our first player to make this list, Firkser is one of three tight ends hitting free agency this offseason. Did he do enough to be brought back next year?

Let’s look at a five other players whose stock fell the most in the 2021 season.

Titans’ Mike Vrabel talks naming David Quessenberry starter at RT

Mike Vrabel talked about what went into the Titans’ decision to name David Quessenberry the starter at right tackle.

On Friday, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel named David Quessenberry the team’s starter at right tackle just two days before Tennessee’s regular season opener against the Arizona Cardinals.

Quessenberry winning the job was somewhat of a surprise, as much of the conversation surrounding the competition at the position this offseason revolved around Kendall Lamm, Ty Sambrailo and Dillon Radunz.

However, Quessenberry landing the role became a reality after he was the starter at right tackle all preseason long.

After making the announcement, Vrabel explained what went into his decision, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online:

“He was out there consistently, and he did a nice job,” Vrabel said. “He helped us function here offensively at the end of last year, and now through training camp. That is a testament to him, and obviously that unit.”

They say the best ability in the NFL is availability, and Quessenberry had that over both Sambrailo and Lamm, both of whom missed practice time during training camp. Sambrailo was working his way back from his 2020 injury, while Lamm suffered an elbow injury that forced him to miss time.

With Lamm and Sambrailo going to the bench, the Titans stand to have great depth and versatility behind their starting five. Should Quessenberry falter, Tennessee has insurance options waiting in the wings.

Titans not ready to name starter at right tackle

The Titans have less than one week to make their decision.

One of the biggest questions the Tennessee Titans still have to answer ahead of the 2021 campaign is: who will be the starter at right tackle?

The last we heard from head coach Mike Vrabel, he revealed that it was a three-man race between David Quessenberry, Kendall Lamm and Ty Sambrailo.

When Vrabel had his latest presser with the media on Monday, he said he wasn’t ready to name the starter just yet, which likely means this week of practices will determine who gets the nod.

Of course, it’s also possible the Titans have figured out who the starter will be, or at least have an idea and are just playing coy, but Vrabel’s comments are all we have to go on right now.

As far as the rest of the offensive line is concerned, Vrabel said he hopes to have both right guard Nate Davis and center Ben Jones back soon. The two starters are currently on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

In the preseason finale against the Chicago Bears, it was Quessenberry who started at right tackle, with Lamm and Sambrailo coming in later on. Lamm played at right tackle, while Sambrailo was deployed on the left side.

The Titans have less than one week to make their decision, as the regular-season opener will take place on Sept. 12 at Nissan Stadium against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mike Vrabel: Dillon Radunz not among the 3 vying for Titans’ RT job

2021 second-round pick Dillon Radunz will not be the Titans’ starter at RT to begin the season.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel revealed that the right tackle competition is down to three players, and 2021 second-round pick, Dillon Radunz, isn’t one of the them.

During his Zoom presser with the media on Monday, Vrabel said that Radunz is not one of the options vying for a starting role, and instead it’ll come down to David Quessenberry, Kendall Lamm and Ty Sambrailo.

Lamm and Sambrailo had been listed as co-starters at right tackle on the depth chart, but it was clear Quessenberry had a real shot after getting the start at right tackle in the preseason finale on Saturday night.

Vrabel noted that Radunz still needs more work. The rookie has been up and down in practice and the preseason, so while this is certainly disappointing, it isn’t all that surprising after what we’ve seen.

Radunz should provide a solid and versatile depth option, though, as the Titans have been giving him reps at both right guard and right tackle this offseason.

The Titans have less than two weeks to decide who will get the starting job on the right side with the regular season opener against the Arizona Cardinals rapidly approaching on Sept. 12.

For now, we tend to believe Quessenberry is the favorite after getting the start in preseason Week 3, but we wouldn’t put the house on it.
