Dolphins free agent OT Greg Little hires new representation

He now shares an agent with multiple Dolphins.

Nearly five years ago, offensive tackle Greg Little was a promising NFL prospect after being drafted in the second round by the Carolina Panthers after a collegiate career at Ole Miss.

However, two years later, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a seventh-round pick. He didn’t play a single snap in his first season, and in 2022, when he was asked to fill in due to injuries to Austin Jackson and Terron Armstead, his performance was poor.

Little went from being the swing tackle option to sitting behind Brandon Shell on the right side.

Now, as Little remains on the free agent market, he’s hired David Canter to represent him and help him earn a second contract.

Canter has been working with a couple of other Dolphins recently, as he also represents Xavien Howard and just recently brought Kader Kohou in as a client as well.

After a tough stretch, Little could use a good salesman to find him a deal before the 2023 season.

Xavien Howard’s agent offers thanks to Dolphins management

Xavien Howard’s agent offers thanks to Dolphins management

It felt like, for a long while, that Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was going to have to do something desperate in order to get the pay raise that he’s been hoping for. The Dolphins, with 4 years of contractual control left of Howard, didn’t appear willing to entertain the idea of a move — and Howard was facing little in the way of options to boost his earnings unless he started acting out as a toxic presence in order to force the Dolphins’ hand with a trade.

Things never got that far and now it appears they won’t ever. The Dolphins and Howard agreed to terms on a restructure overnight. And Howard, who has been pursuing this new deal under the direction of new representation as compared to the agent he first signed his controversial contract with, can thank his agent for helping build a formula to get the Dolphins to the table.

David Canter, who represents Howard now, has been one to play hardball with the Dolphins in the past. And with some successful business finally conducted, Canter himself took to social media to offer thanks to Miami for giving some ground to find a win-win situation.

It is quite telling that the camp of Howard and Canter themselves did not expect any progress in the pursuit of a new deal. And hopefully this contract can serve as the breakthrough that the Dolphins need to find good faith in business with both Howard moving forward and any and all players represented by Canter.

One thing we do know is that the Dolphins will be back at the negotiating table with Howard this offseason — it is reported that Howard got assurances that, based on performance and health, the two sides will return to the table towards the beginning of the league calendar year to discuss a total overhaul of Howard’s contract.

Texans agree to terms with former Giants, Browns linebacker Tae Davis

The Houston Texans have signed former New York Giants and Cleveland Browns linebacker Tae Davis.

The Houston Texans have added another piece to their defense with the signing of linebacker Tae Davis.

According to Davis’ agent, David Canter with DEC Management, the Texans have agreed to terms with former New York Giants and Cleveland Browns linebacker

Davis signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent from Chattanooga. The 6-1, 224-pounder managed to make the Giants’ active roster and played 14 games for New York, starting in four games.

In 2019, Davis was waived by the Giants after the first four games. The Browns picked him up off waivers and he played nine games to close out the season.

Davis collected seven combined tackles and a pass breakup in his 13 games with the Browns in 2020.

The Texans have made a series of moves in free agency to bolster their special teams and also provide depth at the linebacker and defensive line positions, given they are transitioning from the 3-4 scheme to the Tampa-2 scheme under new defensive coordinator Lovie Smith.

Why Josh Gordon could be Seahawks No. 3 receiver in 2020

The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed wide receiver Josh Gordon, who could make a huge impact in 2020 if he is reinstated into the NFL.

The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver Josh Gordon have come to an agreement – the veteran has signed with Seattle to return to the Seahawks roster in 2020 should he be reinstated into the National Football League.

Seattle could use all the help it can get in the receiving department this season as quarterback Russell Wilson makes his push for the league’s Most Valuable Player. Once known mostly as a run-first offense, Wilson and the Seahawks are throwing the ball more and more. Re-enter Flash Gordon.

The Seahawks are likely set at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots with Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, but the third position is wide open for the taking and Gordon is just the man to slide right in.

Gordon played five games for Seattle last season (with only one start) and while his numbers weren’t mind-boggling (seven receptions for 139 yards), everyone who has ever heard his name knows exactly what Gordon is capable of achieving – including coach Pete Carroll, who has been open to Gordon’s return.

“Josh did a really good job with us last year, he fit in really well,” Carroll said during a Zoom press conference early in August. “He was part of this team, by the way we opened and embraced his coming to us, but also by the way he attacked it. So we are very open to that thought and we’ll see what happens.”

Gordon once led the NFL in total receiving yards back in 2013 but it’s not his ability to perform on the field that’s at issue. After numerous suspensions by the league, many wonder if Gordon is up to the task of playing is straight. He applied for reinstatement in June and is still waiting on a decision from the NFL.

With Seattle’s receiving corps – including Phillip Dorsett II – a little banged up, a healthy Gordon would be a huge boost for the Seahawks.

Vonn Bell changes representation just weeks before NFL free agency

New Orleans Saints safety Vonn Bell hired DEC Management’s David Canter to represent him in contract negotiations during 2020 free agency.

The football world has gathered in Indianapolis for this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, creating the first opportunities for many teams to open negotiations with their pending free agents. The New Orleans Saints are no different from any other franchise in this regard, with contract talks starting all around the city in hotel conference rooms, coffee shops, and late-night steakhouses. With free agency right around the corner, it’s crunch time for agents representing those players to get the best offer on the table for their clients.

Sometimes those results are not satisfactory. When spurned by a team’s contract offer (or lack thereof), some players will change representation to find negotiators that are more or less aggressive for their liking. Now, we’re only speculating that Saints safety Vonn Bell followed that line of thinking, but it would make sense considering his contract expires in just a few weeks.

Nola.com’s Amie Just reported Saturday that Bell has changed agencies, having cut ties with agent Chad Speck of Allegiant Athletic Agency. Bell is now represented by David Canter of DEC Management, one of the largest agencies representing NFL players. His roster of clients includes Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, who signed a five-year, $105 million contract extension last summer.

Don’t be shocked if Canter pushes the envelope quite a bit further with the Saints as negotiations heat up ahead of the NFL’s legal tampering deadline. Teams are allowed to make offers to pending free agents around the league beginning March 16, even if nothing can be signed until March 18, the start of the new league year.
