The Houston Texans have added another piece to their defense with the signing of linebacker Tae Davis.
According to Davis’ agent, David Canter with DEC Management, the Texans have agreed to terms with former New York Giants and Cleveland Browns linebacker
Davis signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent from Chattanooga. The 6-1, 224-pounder managed to make the Giants’ active roster and played 14 games for New York, starting in four games.
In 2019, Davis was waived by the Giants after the first four games. The Browns picked him up off waivers and he played nine games to close out the season.
Davis collected seven combined tackles and a pass breakup in his 13 games with the Browns in 2020.
The Texans have made a series of moves in free agency to bolster their special teams and also provide depth at the linebacker and defensive line positions, given they are transitioning from the 3-4 scheme to the Tampa-2 scheme under new defensive coordinator Lovie Smith.
