Chiefs legend Dante Hall shares advice for Kansas City as playoffs loom

Dante Hall shared his advice for the #Chiefs after Kansas City’s brutal loss to the #Raiders on Christmas day.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in dire straits as the 2023 regular season draws to a close. An identity crisis has gummed up the works for the team’s offense, and even while their defense has played exceptional football in recent weeks, it seems nothing can go right for the defending Super Bowl champions.

Chiefs legend Dante Hall made an appearance on Good Morning Football this week and offered some advice to Kansas City’s players as the playoffs draw ever closer.

Even while the Chiefs haven’t yet clinched their spot in the postseason, Hall suggested that the team get back to basics and stay positive amid their most recent trials and tribulations.

Check out Hall’s take on Kansas City’s situation below:

While fans are free to agree or disagree with the legendary returner’s assessment of Kansas City’s situation, one thing is clear: The 2023 Chiefs would be in a much better position if Patrick Mahomes had Hall to throw the ball to in the passing game.

One of the most electrifying players in the NFL during his prime as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Dante Hall, is set to be honored by the team this weekend. The ceremony will occur during the team’s matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers joining the ranks of the legends.

In preparation for one of the greatest special teams returners in league history being inducted into the Chiefs Ring of Honor. The NFL Legacy social media page released a highlight reel of some of his classic touchdown returns. Hall starred for the Chiefs from 2000-2006, leaving an undeniable mark on the franchise and the league.

An overlooked aspect of the former Texas A&M star was his production throughout his career. The highlights are exciting, but by the numbers, he ranks as one of the greatest Chiefs players ever to wear the red and gold.

Hall returned 360 kickoffs for 8,644 yards with six touchdowns and 188 punts for 1,882 yards with five touchdowns. As a receiver, he tallied 145 receptions for 1,615 yards with nine touchdowns and 215 yards as a rusher. He ranks first in team history with 12,356 combined yards.

Texas A&M legend Dante Hall set to be inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Ring of Honor

Wide receiver Dante Hall, both an Aggie and Kansas City Chiefs legend, is set to be inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Ring of honor on Sunday

An absolute legend on the gridiron in both college and the NFL, former Texas A&M and Kansas City Chiefs running back, wide receiver, and elite return specialist Dante Hall is set to be inducted into the Chiefs Ring of Honor on Sunday afternoon amid Kansas City’s home matchup vs. the Los Angelas Chargers.

During Hall’s illustrious four seasons with the Maroon and White, he recorded 4,706 all-purpose yards, which is ranked fourth in program history, leading to his induction into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.

Drafted by Kansas City in the 5th Round of the 2000 NFL Draft, Hall quickly became one of the premier playmakers for the franchise, gaining the nickname “X-Factor” and “The Human Joystick” while setting numerous team records, including career kick return yards (8,644), career kick return touchdowns (6) career punt return touchdowns (5), and career All-purpose yards (12,356) during his 2000-2006 run with the Franchise.

Hall received an All-Pro selection as a return specialist during the 2003 season, amassing 1,950 punt and kick return yards and four total touchdowns (2 Punts, two kicks).

Earlier this year, Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt released a statement regarding Hall’s induction into the Franchise’s Hall of Fame, as his return records will likely stand for years to come.

“My family and I are delighted to announce Dante as this year’s inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame,” Hunt said. “It’s not every day you get to witness a generational talent at the returner position, but Chiefs Kingdom was blessed to witness Dante’s talent for seven seasons.

“His quickness, agility and pure athleticism as a returner and wide receiver cemented him as one of the franchise’s greats. Following his playing career, Dante joined the Kansas City Ambassador program and has been an active participant in the brand’s international expansion efforts. We are looking forward to celebrating Dante’s Hall of Fame induction at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium this fall.”

Congratulations, Dante! And as always, Gig ‘Em!

12 former Chiefs among modern-era nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024

12 former #Chiefs among modern-era nominees for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024 | from: @EdEastonJr

The NFL announced the 173 modern-era nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024.

There are 12 former Kansas City Chiefs in the running, including return specialist Dante Hall, fullback Tony Richardson, quarterback Rich Gannon, guard Brian Waters, and first-time nominee running back Jamaal Charles.

The list will be cut to 25 semifinalists in November and 15 finalists in early January.

Here’s a look at the former Chiefs up for the Hall of Fame in 2024:

Chiefs legend Dante Hall gave simple words of advice to Felix Anudike-Uzomah

Shortly after Felix Anudike-Uzomah was drafted, Dante Hall gave the #Chiefs rookie some advice that he says he’ll remember forever.

Just days after he was drafted by his hometown team, Felix Anudike-Uzomah shared the stage at the 2023 NFL draft with a Kansas City Chiefs legend, who shared with the rookie some simple, yet valuable advice.

Dante Hall was announced as the Chiefs’ Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame selection, which comes every year around the draft ahead of the team’s draft festival. With Kansas City hosting the draft this past year, the event was a little different, but Hall still had an opportunity to mingle with some draft picks, including Anudike-Uzomah.

“I remember I was on the float (at the 2023 NFL Draft) with (future Chiefs Hall of Famer) Dante Hall,” Anudike-Uzomah told reporters on Wednesday.Basically, he said it really simple, ‘Honestly, you play football for a reason, just go out and play. There’s no thought into it, there’s no overthinking it, just go out there and play because at the end of the day, this is just a game. So, once you just play literally just a game like how you did in little league, and just play, do everything right, do everything possible, eat right, do everything, work on your body, everything will just play in place.’”

Sometimes the best advice doesn’t have to be the most profound. Anudike-Uzomah said those words from Hall will stick with him forever. It’s not just because it came from a player that was a part of his favorite team and provided some of his earliest football memories. Though, I’m sure that’s part of it. Really, the advice Hall provided just makes a lot of sense.

Sometimes as a rookie, you can let things get bigger than they are. It’s important to remember that you’re playing a game and one that you’ve played for a long time at a high level. If you prepare the right way and keep that in the back of your mind, everything else will fall into place.

Five players from the past who could have thrived in today’s NFL

From Kordell Stewart to Julian Peterson, Natalie Miller identifies five players from the past who could succeed wildly in today’s NFL.

It’s too often that we see intriguing players come out of college with unique skillsets that were failed to be maximized at the next level in this league. Or they were good players, but could have been even better in a league with an emphasis on creative play calling, gadget plays, and versatility. In the past players were seen as ‘tweeners’ or their ability was too different from what the league demanded at the time.

Today we look at five players, who if entering the league as a rookie this season, could have thoroughly dominated with the creative minds in the modern NFL.

Here’s Dante Hall’s favorite play during his Chiefs career

Dante Hall revealed his favorite play during the course of his career with the #Chiefs:

Kansas City Chiefs legend Dante Hall is going into the Ring of Honor next year — largely due to his uncanny ability to make players miss in the open field.

Speaking to reporters after he was announced as the 52nd member of the Ring of Honor and the 48th player to be inducted, Hall was asked to recall his favorite play from the course of his career. He didn’t recall one of his many return touchdowns, but instead recalled the juke that he believes changed the course of his NFL career.

It was a 2002 road game against the Denver Broncos in Week 14. He caught five passes on six targets for 143 yards and two touchdowns during that game. On one of the touchdown passes, he unleashed one of the filthiest jukes in NFL history.

“I remember this one the best and it’s my favorite by far,” Hall said. “It’s the play in Denver – not the return here – the catch on the sideline, the spin, step back. Just aesthetically, just as a football fan, I love it the most.

“But it’s also the most important because at that time I was primarily just a return man, they would stick me in on gadget plays as a receiver but I remember coming in after that particular play and that particular game and having so many more plays designed and drawn up just for me.”

For Hall, he felt this was the tipping point where he became more than a return specialist for Kansas City. He felt he saw a lot more action in the game plan on offense from that point forward. It also allowed him to become a better return specialist as well.

“What that did was it allowed me to play more on offense which allowed me to get in the game and get in the groove more,” Hall said. “Which I think helped spring my actual return game because it was tough the first two years only being a return man – you’re not playing much on offense, you’re coming in cold, trying to make a play. You don’t get the flow and the speed of the game but after that I played in about 30 percent or 40 percent of the offense and the return game became much easier to me.”

This play has a special place in the heart of Hall and throughout the entirety of Chiefs Kingdom. It’s that much sweeter knowing that it came against the Broncos too.

The Kansas City Chiefs will induct Aggie legend Dante Hall into their Hall of Fame

Wide receiver and kick returner Dante Hall, both an Aggie and Kansas City Chiefs legend, will reportedly be inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame

Texas A&M football legend Dante Hall, as a running back and return specialist during his four seasons with the Maroon and White, recorded 4,706 all-purpose yards which is ranked fourth in program history, leading to his induction into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.

Standing at 5-8, Hall’s size scared off a number of NFL teams during the 2000 NFL draft,  though his incredible versatility as a converted wide receiver caught the eye of the Kansas City Chiefs, who went on to draft him in the fifth round with the 153rd pick. From 200-2006, Hall became one of the premier playmakers for the franchise, gaining the nickname “X-Factor” and “The Human Joystick”, while setting numerous team records. Appearing in 97 games for the Chiefs over his seven seasons with the franchise, Hall amassed 8,500 return yards and 11 return touchdowns during his time in Kansas City, including an All-Pro selection as a returner during the 2003 season.

Due to his vast accomplished, it was announced last week that the Kansas City Chiefs will induct Hall into their team Hall of Fame, as team CEO Clark Hunt released a statement in response to his induction:

“My family and I are delighted to announce Dante as this year’s inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame,” Hunt said. “It’s not every day you get to witness a generational talent at the returner position, but Chiefs Kingdom was blessed to witness Dante’s talent for seven seasons.
