Former UNC basketball standout is reportedly on trade block

Former UNC basketball standout Danny Green is reportedly on the trade block for the Philadelphia 76ers according to the latest.

It appears as if former UNC basketball standout [autotag]Danny Green[/autotag] is going to have a new home next season in the NBA.

After spending another season in Philadelphia, the 76ers are reportedly shopping the forward ahead of the 2022 NBA draft later this month. The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor released his annual draft guide focusing on this year and he had an interesting nugget regarding the 76ers.

He has Philadelphia drafting Blake Wesley out of Notre Dame at No. 23 overall but in there noted that Green is a player that is being brought up in trade talks including the No. 23 overall pick in the draft. Here is what he wrote:

The Sixers are exploring trades involving this pick and Danny Green, according to sources. While Green was an important two-way wing for the Sixers, he tore both the ACL and LCL in his left knee in May and now he has an expiring $10 million contract. If they end trading the pick, I’d imagine a raw, high-upside player like Wesley would have wide appeal. If the Sixers keep it, taking a swing could pay off since they don’t have a first again until 2024 after the Nets deferred this year’s pick to take Philly’s 2023 selection instead. That’s a bet that the Sixers will be worse.

Green is set to be 35 later in June and is coming off an ACL tear in the playoffs this season. So he needs to recover from that as well. But Green is a veteran in this league that has proven to be a legit three-point shooter through the course of his career in the league.  He is shooting 40% from the three-point line in his career, including 38 percent this past season.

If Green is traded, hopefully, it’s to another contender.

Tobias Harris, Sixers congratulate Paul Reed for graduating college

Tobias Harris and the Philadelphia 76ers give love to Paul Reed for graduating college from DePaul.

When a player leaves for the NBA before he graduates college, it isn’t always the case that they will go back and earn their degree. It takes a lot of time and dedication to want to do that as a professional basketball player.

For Philadelphia 76ers big man Paul Reed, he wanted to go back to DePaul and finish what he started.

On Sunday, Reed graduated college and he made a post on Instagram celebrating his success with his family and friends. Considering how much time has to be given to earn a college degree, congratulations were in order for the energetic fan favorite in Philadelphia.

Sixers teammates Tobias Harris and Danny Green took to Instagram to give their congratulations to Reed on their own personal stories. A lot of credit goes to the 22-year old who was able to achieve a personal goal of his as he moves forward in life.

Danny Green targets a return for Sixers by All-Star break with torn ACL

Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green is targeting a return around the All-Star break after tearing his ACL.

Early in Game 6 for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Miami Heat, they lost veteran shooter Danny Green to a gruesome knee injury that kept him out for the rest of the game. The Sixers really missed his presence on the floor in that game as a shooter and his ability to do the little things.

The day after the Game 6 loss, it was revealed that Green suffered a torn ACL and LCL after Joel Embiid fell on his knee. Normally when a player suffers a torn ACL and LCL, that mean they are out for an entire season.

However, on his podcast “Inside the Green Room”, Green is targeting the All-Star break for his return to the floor:

I’d like to end on my own terms and not a major injury…I will be back before All-Star break. You better believe it. You heard it here first. So I will work my tail off to rehab to get back healthy. My body and my bones usually heal pretty well. I don’t have any bad habits. So, yeah, I think I’ll be back in time to help the team in the playoff run and show and prove that I’m able to still play at that level to help a team get a win in the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see if Green will be able to work his way back by the break. The Sixers will certainly miss his ability to spread the floor and his mere presence on the floor is a big help to this team. He was playing pretty well before the injury in the playoffs and that is going to be something to watch for the Sixers early in the 2022-23 season.

Sixers’ Danny Green goes in on Patrick Beverley to defend Chris Paul

Philadelphia 76ers veteran Danny Green goes in on Patrick Beverley for his comments on Chris Paul.

NBA veteran and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley has made his name known over the past few days with his NBA takes while joining ESPN’s popular sports debate show, “First Take”.

Beverley first defended Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden as he said the Sixers have got to give him the supermax in order to keep him. He also had a very hot take on Phoenix Suns, and future Hall of Famer, Chris Paul.

After the Suns were eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals in Game 7, there were a lot of takes going around about the former defending Western Conference champions. Beverley said that Paul can’t defend Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and that Phoenix should have benched him rather than DeAndre Ayton.

It was a pretty wild take and it sent shockwaves throughout the league. Former NBA champion Matt Barnes came after Beverley for his take and now, Sixers guard Danny Green had something to say to Beverley:

People target you to too, Pat Bev. You ain’t playing no (expletive) defense out there. You ain’t stopping Luka. It’s time and time again I’ve seen Luka call your ass little. He’s too (expletive) small and right at you every chance he got. When you play Luka, you’re a cone too. How would you like that?

Please be advised that the clip below contains language that some might consider offensive.

Green is right. There is no reason for Beverley to go at Paul the way he did and at that point, he should give respect where it’s due.

Former UNC basketball guard Danny Green suffers torn ACL

UNC basketball guard Danny Green suffered a torn ACL during the Philadelphia 76ers season-finale.

The Philadelphia 76ers saw their season come to a close on Thursday night but that wasn’t the only negative news to come from the game as former UNC guard [autotag]Danny Green[/autotag] left the game with a knee injury.

On Friday, it was announced that Green had torn his ACL. The injury came when 76ers center Joel Embiid drove under the basket on the baseline and slipped, falling into Green’s planted leg.

Green turns 35 in June and with a normal rehab process of nearly a year before getting back to feeling like yourself following an ACL injury, Green could go into free agency in 2023 without much time to prove himself.

Green averaged 5.9 points per game this season while shooting 38 percent from the three. He had 21 points in the 76ers Game 3 win.

The former Tar Heels guard is a three-time NBA champion (2014, 2019, 2020) and has career averages of 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He is also a 39.9 percent shooter from three during his career.

Danny Green says Sixers need to be more mature as they move forward

Danny Green says the Philadelphia 76ers need to be a more mature basketball team in order to advance.

CAMDEN, N.J. — There seems to be a familiar theme with the Philadelphia 76ers as they move forward after being ousted by the Miami Heat in Game 6 on Thursday. Tobias Harris said the Sixers need to be more mentally tough and veteran Danny Green seems to agree.

Green has three championship rings and he has been around a lot of great players in his career. So when he speaks on issues like this one, it comes from a place of success and experience that nobody else on the Sixers really has.

Philadelphia obviously has a ton of talent with Joel Embiid, James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Harris leading the way, but they haven’t exactly learned from their past mistakes. They have to be able to learn from the past so they don’t repeat those mistakes in the future.

“We have the talent,” said Green on Friday. “We have the pieces. I think it’s just putting our individual selves aside for the greater good of the group and that’s making multiple efforts offensively and defensively to be sharp and maturity.”

Green then pointed out the Round 1 series with the Toronto Raptors. Philadelphia led that series 3-0 and they should have got that series done quickly. Instead, they let the Raptors win two games in a row and Embiid then suffered the orbital fracture in the Game 6 clincher of that series which hobbled him against the Miami Heat.

“I honestly think that if we were a mature team, we don’t have to go to six games with Toronto,” he explained. “Obviously, injuries hurt a lot too. Missing Joel the first two games hurt. Last game, me not being there definitely hurt, but I think if we come in, more focused, and more mature, we don’t have to have these lapses or wake up call games where we get embarrassed to come in and do our jobs or be more locked into a playoff series.”

Green is absolutely right. At some point, this Sixers team has to grow up and learn from their past mistakes. If not, they are doomed to repeat it over and over again and keep falling in the second round of the playoffs.

Sixers guard Danny Green diagnosed with torn ACL from Game 6 injury

Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green has suffered a torn ACL from the Game 6 injury against the Miami Heat.

The Philadelphia 76ers lost veteran guard Danny Green to a knee injury in the first quarter of their Game 6 loss to the Miami Heat and it has tuned out to be much worse than he expected.

Green spoke on Friday that he believed he just tore some ligaments on the outside of his knee and that he would be fine. However, the MRI has now revealed that he actually has a torn ACL which is a big blow to a guy who will be turning 35-years old in June.

With that being said, Green was never a guy who relied on athleticism or speed to be productive. He will likely miss the 2022-23 season, but he can return in 2023 and continue to be an effective player out on the floor.

The Sixers will miss Green. He is so important to what they do and it was obvious they missed him in Game 6 against the Heat. Now, they will have to find a new replacement for him as they move forward.

Danny Green believes he tore ligaments in his knee after leaving Game 6

Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green believes he has torn ligaments in his knee after the injury.

CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a tough blow early in the Game 6 loss to the Miami Heat when they lost Danny Green to a knee injury in the first quarter. Joel Embiid fell into his knee and he immediately left the game.

The Sixers missed Green’s ability to shoot the ball and be able to spread the floor and just his presence out on the court with the team. They were not able to be the same team and with the offseason now here, the attention now turns to the severity of his injury.

Green spoke about the injury at exit interviews on Friday and he discussed the injury.

“I’m very hopeful,” he said. “It doesn’t feel as bad as it looked, I guess. They think it’s going to be some ligament damage. Hopefully, it’s not major ligaments. I think the major ones feel intact, they look pretty good, I don’t know. I’m talking as if I’m a doctor, but I’m not, but it’s just pretty much nothing moreso the outside of the knee.”

That can be some good news for Green. He is still waiting for the results of the MRI he had, but it would be big for Philadelphia if the veteran can be all set to go when the 2022-23 season begins due to him being a very important piece to the team.

Danny Green suffers knee injury in 76ers season-ending loss

Former UNC basketball standout Danny Green had to leave Game 6 with a knee injury he suffered.

The Philadelphia 76ers saw their season come to an end on Thursday night, dropping Game 6 to the Miami Heat and losing the series 4-2. Philadelphia was without Joel Embiid for the first two games of the series, losing both of those and on Thursday, they were hit by the injury bug again.

Former UNC standout [autotag]Danny Green[/autotag] had to leave the game with a knee injury in the first quarter and did not return. He suffered the injury in a collision with Embiid. The 76ers immediately ruled Green out for the rest of the game and were planning on doing an MRI to determine the severity of the injury:

The 34-year-old averaged 5.9 points per game while shooting 38 percent from the three-point line this season. Green scored 21 points in the 76ers Game 3 win and followed it up with just 11 in Game 4.

Player grades: No. 1 seed Heat win Game 6 to eliminate Joel Embiid, Sixers

The No. 1 seed Miami Heat come up with a Game 6 win to eliminate Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers.

PHILADELPHIA — This was it for the Philadelphia 76ers. This was either win or go home with the Miami Heat coming into the Wells Fargo Center for Game 6, this seemed like an opportunity for the Sixers to get some momentum for a Game 7. However, with Joel Embiid really hobbling, it was not a night the Sixers will want to remember.

The Heat got big nights out of Max Strus to help Jimmy Butler get the job done on the road as they came up with a 99-90 win to eliminate Embiid and the Sixers. This is the fourth time in five seasons that Philadelphia has been eliminated from the second round of the playoffs.

Embiid led the Sixers with 20 points and 12 rebounds, Tyrese Maxey added 20 of his own, and James Harden had 11 and nine assists. Tobias Harris had 14 and eight rebounds and Shake Milton added 15 off the bench.

Here are the player grades as the Sixers now head to the offseason:
