NFL Network Mock Draft Lists No Notre Damers

f Notre Dame is to go without a first round selection it would be the first time since the 2017 draft that were to occur.

Daniel Jeremiah is a former starting quarterback at Appalachian State and spent time working in the front offices of the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore since he graduated in 2000.

Jeremiah is now an analyst at NFL Network and spends a ton of time offering his thoughts on draft prospects once we transition from the collegiate season to the off-season.

Jeremiah released his latest mock draft last week and perhaps to the surprise of some, no Notre Dame players were listed.

A few notable things from this draft:

-Joe Burrow goes first.  That part isn’t a shock but he’s the first of five players form LSU that Jeremiah projects to go on opening night.  The Tigers are tied with Alabama for the most first round picks in this mock at five.

-Clemson checks in with three projected first round picks, two of which come from the defensive side of the ball and one that comes from the offense.

-Ohio State has a somewhat surprising total of just two first round picks here but it doesn’t feel that light by Ohio State standards when you realize the projected second and third picks are both Buckeyes.

-No tight ends go in round one, noteworthy obviously when discussing Cole Kmet who several have as a likely first rounder.

-Four Notre Dame opponents from the 2019 season are projected to go in the first round by Jeremiah.  Those include offensive tackle Mekhi Becton of Louisville (4 – Giants), offensive tackle Andrew Thomas (10 – Browns) and running back De’Andre Swift (18 – Dolphins) of Georgia and offensive tackle Austin Jackson of USC (26 – Dolphins).

If Notre Dame is to go without a first round selection it would be the first time since the 2017 draft that were to occur.

2020 NFL draft: NFL.com sees WR to Bills at pick 22

Buffalo Bills select Clemson WR Tee Higgins in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft for NFL.com/ NFL Network.

Do you want to see the Buffalo Bills take a wide receiver with their first-round pick at the 2020 NFL draft? NFL.com does too.

In Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft ahead of the upcoming selection day in April, the Bills land a popular name with their pick. The move is Clemson wideout Tee Higgins.

Here’s how the pick is broken down:

The Bills need to add a big-bodied playmaker. Higgins is a jump-ball specialist.

Depending on what the Bills do in free agency before the draft, expect Higgins to be a popular name connected to the team. The Bills could use any type of wideout addition to their team, but Higgins’ 6-foot-4 frame is really what excites.

John Brown and Cole Beasley currently sit atop Buffalo’s depth chart, and could even if Higgins was drafted by the team. But not only are those two aging, they’re also on the shorter side. They can’t exactly go for the jump balls like Higgins can.

In NFL.com’s mock draft, Higgins is the fourth wideout off the board, behind Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb, Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy and Alabama’s Henry Ruggs.

Eagles land Henry Ruggs III in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft

Eagles land Henry Ruggs III in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft

The Philadelphia Eagles are in Mobile checking out the Senior Bowl but if you ask most draft experts and prognosticators, their minds are on Henry Ruggs III and his potential fit with Carson Wentz.

Ruggs III and the Eagles have been a mutual couple when mentioned during the mock draft season and the narrative didn’t change with the NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah. The scouting guru and personnel experts believes the former Crimson Tide and the Eagles are a perfect match as well.

PICK

21

Henry Ruggs III – WR
School: Alabama | Year: Junior

Speed! The Eagles are focused on getting faster this offseason, and Ruggs is the most explosive player in the draft.

The Eagles need for speed matches up with the dynamic playmaking ability Ruggs III can offer in both the passing game and running game.

With Alshon Jeffery and JJ Arcega-Whiteside currently on the roster, the Eagles can afford to steer clear of a big-bodied wideout and need to focus on a player in the mold of Tyreek Hill, a player who changes the outcome of games with one single run after the catch or the ability run away from the defense.

2020 NFL draft: Jets surprise with a pass-rusher in Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock

In Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft of the season, the NFL Network draft analyst projects the Jets to take LSU EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson.

In his latest mock draft, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has the Jets making a surprise selection at No. 11.

Jeremiah has consistently been one of the most accurate mock drafters each year. In Jeremiah’s pre-free agency mock draft last season, he correctly pinpointed the Jets’ eventual selection of DT Quinnen Williams.

Many anticipate the Jets will take an offensive lineman with the team’s first pick, No. 11 overall, but there’s a high chance that there will already be four off the board, as Jeremiah himself projects in his mock draft.

In that scenario, Jeremiah has the Jets taking a bit of a wild card route. He projects the Jets will select LSU pass-rusher K’Lavon Chaisson with the No. 11 pick, passing over potential No. 1 wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy.

Here is Jeremiah’s explanation for the pick:

General manager Joe Douglas is desperate to upgrade the OL, but in this scenario, the run at the position has already taken place. Chaisson is an outstanding athlete and would fit smoothly into the Jets’ scheme.

Chaisson is an athletic freak at defensive end and has the ideal build and mobility for the edge rusher position at the next level. Standing at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, he has the combination of size and speed that enables him to bend off the edge and dip under tackles with good balance.

The production for Chaisson didn’t exactly come in bunches at LSU, but that should be ignored when evaluating the prospect. Chaisson would fit right into Gregg Williams’ defensive scheme and add much-needed pressure off the edge to complement the dominant interior defensive line.

Before getting into the media, Jeremiah was a college scout for the Ravens, Browns and Eagles. Jeremiah and Joe Douglas’ time overlapped in Baltimore, so they were brought up under similar NFL upbringings.

Jeremiah knows that Douglas would like to upgrade his offensive line, but it’s easier said than done when there are 10 teams picking in front of you.

Daniel Jeremiah’s mock draft 1.0: Ravens get their next great LB

NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah has the Ravens taking their linebacker of the future in Oklahoma’s Kenneth Murray in the 2020 NFL draft

The Baltimore Ravens didn’t finish their season where they hoped, falling short in the NFL playoffs to the Tennessee Titans. Now holding the No. 28 pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Ravens will have to make the most of a bad situation and hopefully plug one of their holes.

Former Ravens college scout and current NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes Baltimore will go back to their roots. In his first mock draft of the season, Jeremiah has the Ravens selecting Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray.

“The Ravens love shopping at Oklahoma. Murray is a dynamic athlete, and Baltimore needs an upgrade at the linebacker position.”

While the Ravens used to be all about Alabama players, the 2019 NFL draft pointed to that trend changing under new general manager Eric DeCosta. Of their eight picks last offseason, two were from Oklahoma, including first-round wide receiver Marquise Brown.

Murray is an intriguing prospect that seemingly fits exactly what the Ravens do perfectly. He’s a fast and physical linebacker who is great against the run and can drop into coverage. But he’s also a capable blitzer who can knife between linemen and get into the backfield in a flash.

Baltimore needs help at inside linebacker with both Josh Bynes and Patrick Onwuasor among their 21 pending free agents. But under defensive coordinator Don Martindale, the Ravens absolutely love to blitz from anywhere on the field, leading the league in blitz percentages this season. A player of Murray’s capability there would be a huge bonus for Martindale and Baltimore’s defense.

Daniel Jeremiah NFL mock draft: Broncos select WR Jerry Jeudy

In his first 2020 NFL mock draft, Daniel Jeremiah has the Broncos landing Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy with the 15th overall pick.

[jwplayer 3f6oS2C4-ThvAeFxT]

In his first 2020 NFL mock draft, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has the Denver Broncos selecting Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy with the 15th overall pick in the first round.

“Jeudy would give the Broncos one of the most exciting collections of young skill-position players in the league,” Jeremiah wrote on NFL.com. “Adding him to a group that already includes Drew Lock, Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant and Phillip Lindsay would strike fear into opposing defensive coordinators.”

Jeudy (6-1, 192 pounds) caught 159 passes for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns during his three years with the Crimson Tide. Jeudy is considered one of the top WRs in this year’s draft class and he would be a great addition to Denver’s offense.

After trading Emmanuel Sanders to the 49ers and bringing in new offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, the Broncos will need to add at least two WRs this offseason. Jeudy will likely be one of their top-rated options.

Jeremiah has LSU quarterback Joe Burrow going No. 1 overall to the Bengals and Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell going No. 32 overall to the 49ers. To view his complete first-round 2020 NFL mock draft, click here.

Saints land Justin Jefferson in Daniel Jeremiah’s first 2020 mock draft

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah connected the New Orleans Saints to LSU Tigers wide receiver Justin Jefferson in his first 2020 mock draft.

[jwplayer bdu17ZTU-ThvAeFxT]

The NFL has converged on Mobile, Ala. for this year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl, which features a series of media sessions and practices involving some of the top prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft. Scouts, coaches, general managers, and everyone else are in town to get a first look at the next crop of rookies. So of course it’s time to start paying better attention to mock drafts.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has a reputation as one of the most-accurate prognosticators around the industry. His first 2020 mock draft has connected the Saints with LSU Tigers wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Jeremiah explained the logic behind his pick:

Jefferson is very precise as a route runner, and I love his toughness. He’ll fit perfectly next to Michael Thomas.

Plenty of things will change between now and draft day in late April, but it’s tough to argue against a better fit than Jefferson in New Orleans. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound junior thrived in a similar offense run by ex-Saints assistant Joe Brady (who’s now the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator), building on his sophomore-year momentum to lead the team in receptions (111) and rank second-best in receiving yards (1,540) and touchdown catches (18).

He wasn’t targeted in two appearances as a freshman; but in 28 games over his last two years, Jefferson averaged 5.9 catches per game for 86.3 yards gained through the air. He’s exactly who the Saints need to help take pressure off of Thomas, who led the league in receptions (149, breaking an all-time record). Only one other Saints wideout caught more than 18 passes, and that was pending free agent Ted Ginn Jr., who reeled in just 30.

Daniel Jeremiah’s 2019 rookie rankings shows little respect for Devin White

Daniel Jeremiah’s final rookie rankings for 2019 has Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White falling out of the top 10.

The 2019 regular season is in the books, and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they head into the offseason with a newfound sense of optimism. After a 3-7 start to the year, the Bucs finished 7-9 and now hold the 14th pick in April’s NFL draft.

One of the biggest bright sports of the Bucs’ season was the strong second half performance of rookie linebacker Devin White, who was sidelined for several games earlier in the year with a knee sprain. White had dominant performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and even returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown in Week 17, the longest fumble return in franchise history.

White also earned NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month honors for both November and December, proving he is one of the league’s young emerging stars.

Which is why it is so surprising to see White ranked only at No. 11 on Daniel Jeremiah’s list of the top 25 rookies of 2019 over at NFL.com. DJ had White ranked at No. 8 on his list at the beginning of December, but dropped him three spots on his final list. Jeremiah moved New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones up 11 spots from 18 to 7 on the latest list. It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that White, who has been as dominant as any rookie defender the past two months, would fall down the list and out of the top 10.

I’m sure any team in the league would jump at the chance to get a young star like him. Maybe White can use Jeremiah’s list as added motivation heading into the offseason.

Devin White cracks the top 10 in NFL.com’s rookie rankings

See where Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie linebacker Devin White lands on NFL.com’s latest rookie rankings.

The good news just keeps on rolling in for Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White, who had his most dominant performance to date in Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

White, the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, had an interception on Jacksonville’s opening drive and then scooped up a fumble and took it to the house on the next Jags possession, helping Tampa Bay take a commanding 15-0 lead, which they’d never surrender.

White was viewed by many as a favorite to take home the NFL’s Defensive Rookie Player of the Year Award before the season started, but a sprained knee suffered in Week 2’s win over the Carolina Panther sidelined him for several weeks and saw his odds of winning drop.

Well, people might want to start thinking about White as a viable candidate again based on how he’s looked the past two weeks. NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah has certainly taken notice, and moved White to No. 8 on his list of rookie rankings.

Here’s what Jeremiah had to say about the former LSU star.

“White has really come alive the past few weeks. He collected 2 sacks against Atlanta in Week 12 and followed that up with an interception against the Jaguars in Week 13.”

White and the Buccaneers we look to make it three-straight wins on Sunday when they welcome the Indianapolis Colts to town. At 5-7, the Bucs have a shot at avoiding their third-straight 5-11 season with a win.
