Dan Mullen changes CFP pick, gives love to UGA after Week 1

Former Florida Gators coach Dan Mullen thinks that Georgia football can win the CFP.

Former Florida Gators coach Dan Mullen was happy to watch college football in Week 1 from the comfort of an ESPN studio. Mullen, who serves as a college football analyst for ESPN, has already changed his College Football Playoff prediction.

Mullen previously projected that Alabama would defeat Ohio State in the national championship. Additionally, the former Florida coach had Utah and NC State in the CFP.

Utah lost at Florida in Week 1 and NC State barely defeated East Carolina. This pair of teams does not look like CFP contenders. There’s still a lot of college football left to be played.

Now, Dan Mullen projects that the Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan Wolverines will make the CFP along with Ohio State and Alabama. All four teams impressed in Week 1 action.

Georgia’s 49-3 win over Oregon was the most impressive performance in the country. Ohio State topped a strong Notre Dame team 21-10, but did not look as explosive on offense as expected. However, Ohio State’s defense played very well.

Mullen predicts that Georgia will defeat the Buckeyes in the national championship. Do you agree with his updated CFP prediction?

Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama certainly look like the three best teams in the country. Clemson has an elite defense. If the Tigers can improve offensively, then they have a good chance to make the CFP.

Florida HC Dan Mullen expects to go undefeated in 2020

Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen says he expects to go undefeated in the 2020 college football season

This Wednesday, Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen went on the “Pat McAfee Show” and discussed his expectations for the upcoming 2020 season.

“I expect us to go undefeated this year,” Mullen said on the show. “I’m not guaranteeing it, because I’ll be honest with you, I have two national championship rings here at Florida and we didn’t go undefeated in either of those two seasons. We still won a national championship.”

Mullen was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the Tebow era in Gainesville.  He understands you don’t need to win every game to win it all, but still seems very confident heading into 2020.

Florida secured the No. 9 best recruiting class for 2020, locking down a number of the nation’s top prospects.  Many experts have been predicting Florida as the SEC East victor for the upcoming season, which seems odd considering the Georgia Bulldogs have the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation for the second time in just three years, one of those years having the No. 2 class.

The Dawgs and Gators face off this season in Jacksonville on Halloween day, October 31st.
