Bryan Mone’s ankle injury could open door for Damon Harrison

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Bryan Mone’s ankle injury could open the door for Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison Week 10 against the Rams.

Three Seattle Seahawks suffered ankle sprains in the loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. Of those three — linebacker K.J. Wright, cornerback D.J. Reed and defensive tackle Bryan Mone — only Mone’s appears to be serious. His absence could open the door for Damon Harrison, who is on the practice squad.

“Bryan Mone had a pretty good high ankle sprain, and it’s going be a problem for him,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday. “We’ll see what happens in the next couple days, but that was probably the most serious injury that we had. He got caught up and got cut from behind and tangled up. K.J. bounced back pretty good today, and D.J. Reed’s moving pretty good today too, so the initial look is that it was not a severe ankle at all.”

With Seattle potentially down a defensive tackle, Harrison is a logical option to be elevated before Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

“He’s available, he’s ready to go,” Carroll stated. “The way it looks. We’ve got to have some more information on Bryan’s situation so we can take care of him but this is where Snacks would jump up right now.

“This is what he’s been looking for and preparing for.”

Seattle has plenty of time before needing to make any major decisions. The players have Tuesday off and report back on Wednesday morning.

Damon Harrison declined signing with other teams to stay with Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks nose tackle Damon Harrison turned down offers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins to stay with the Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks recently signed Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the practice squad with the hopes he can eventually be promoted to the active roster.

After receiving offers from the Buccaneers and Dolphins recently, Harrison chose to remain on the Seahawks’ practice squad.

The Buccaneers were reeling from Vita Vea’s season-ending injury in Week 5 and extended an offer to Harrison, which he declined.

One week later, NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Dolphins attempted to lure the nose tackle away from the Emerald City to no avail.

As Pelissero noted, Harrison may be trying to work his way up into the rotation.

Pete Carroll previously spoke favorably of Harrison’s abilities and character, as well as the opportunity to obtain him and put him on the practice squad.

Harrison has built up a reputation as a solid run-stopper, leading the NFL in run-stop percentage in 2013 and 2016.

The Seahawks will hope he can step in if they need him to, as they may need all the defensive line help they can get.

Damon Harrison ‘has some work to do’ to get in game-day shape

The Seattle Seahawks recently signed Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the practice squad but hope to see him contribute once he’s in game-day shape.

The Seattle Seahawks signed defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison to practice squad last week with the hopes that he will eventually be able to contribute significantly on gameday.

Many were hoping to see him elevated from the practice squad in order to face the Vikings on Sunday night, but coach Pete Carroll didn’t think the long-term veteran was up to the task just yet.

After pondering retirement at the end of last season, the big defensive tackle hadn’t stepped back onto a football field until Seattle signed him this month. Carroll admitted Harrison still has some work to do.

“We really didn’t get a lot done because of the setup for the week,” Carroll said during his Monday press conference. “We were in walk-thru mode on Wednesday, we didn’t put pads on at all last week, we just did helmets, so we really didn’t get a great look at him. He’s got he’s got some work to do.

“He’s a big man, and he’s got to get in shape before we can see him at his best.”

Harrison and the rest of the Seahawks return from the bye to the practice field on Monday to prepare to face the Cardinals.

What Seahawks intend to do with defensive tackle Snack Harrison

The Seattle Seahawks signed defensive tackle Snacks Harrison to the practice squad but the team has bigger plans for him in the near future.

The Seattle Seahawks signed defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison to the practice squad on Wednesday, but the team has bigger plans for him in the near future. However, he likely won’t be available by Sunday night’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

“Let me see him on a practice field first, I’ve got to see what he looks like running around,” coach Pete Carroll told the reporters. “Learning the defense, he’ll be fine there. He’s a really smart football player, that’s not going to be a problem. It’s just how fit he is and all that. He’s a big man, so we got to see what he looks like.”

Harrison had been contemplating retirement at the end of last season and hasn’t stepped on a football field since. He’ll need to get up to strength and speed before he’s eventually promoted to the active roster and he gets his chance on game day.

“Damon’s been a real force in the league, and he’s got a real special style—he’s so big and so strong and stout in the middle,” Carroll continued. “This opportunity to get him now and to get him on the practice squad is to give him a chance to work and get ready and learn what we’re doing and see where he can fit in as soon as possible.”

Seahawks sign DT Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison and 2 others to practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks have signed defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison to their practice squad along with two others ahead of Week 5.

The Seattle Seahawks announced a number of roster moves Wednesday afternoon, including the news that the team has signed defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison to their practice squad.

Harrison had been in town this week on a visit, which apparently went well for both sides.

Harrison entered the league as an undrafted free agent when he signed with the Jets in 2012 out of William Penn University. During his nine-year career, he has also spent time with the Giants and Lions. He was named as a First-Team All-Pro in 2016.

The defensive tackle, who has yet to practice or play this season, will likely eventually make his way onto the active roster once he gets up to speed.

The Seahawks also announced the signing of cornerback DeMarkus Acy and linebacker Michael Divinity to the practice squad, who will take the spots of wide receiver Lance Lenoir and defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas following their release.

Packers target Damon Harrison signs with Seahawks

Former All-Pro DL Damon “Snacks” Harrison picked the Seahawks over the Packers.

The Green Bay Packers won’t be adding Damon “Snacks” Harrison.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Harrison has agreed to sign with the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad, canceling a reported visit he had in Green Bay on Wednesday.

A one-time All-Pro, Harrison clearly had a strong preference to play in Seattle, where he’ll join Russell Wilson and the unbeaten Seahawks. Harrison won’t be on the active roster but could be promoted or elevated to help the Seahawks defense.

New practice squad rules allow teams to sign veteran players to the practice squad. Harrison, 31, played the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions and has appeared in 117 career games.

It appears Harrison picked Seattle’s practice squad or a chance at a roster spot in Green Bay.

The Packers could theoretically sign Harrison off of the Seahawks’ practice squad, but he’d have to agree to terminate his contract and sign a new deal in Green Bay.

The Packers should return Kenny Clark from a groin injury coming out of the bye, and Tyler Lancaster is coming off his best game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.

Damon Harrison signs onto Seattle Seahawks practice squad

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that former Detroit Lions starting nose tackle, Damon Harrison, is signing onto the Seattle Seahawks practice squad.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that former Detroit Lions starting nose tackle, Damon Harrison, is signing onto the Seattle Seahawks practice squad.

It’s been an up and down few years for Harrison. After dominating 2018 for the Lions, he earned a contract extension ahead of the 2019 season. That season was a disappointment, both for the Lions and Harrison, as he fought through obstacles and contemplated retirement.

The Lions and Harrison parted ways soon after, with both parties pointing towards the separation being a “mutual agreement” and Harrison citing uncomfortableness in his role in the Lions scheme — as he was asked to expand his role beyond the nose to the 3-technique.

Harrison remained a free agent through late September when he began fielding offers from teams including the Seahawks. Now, he will be joining the Seahawks practice squad as he works to acclimate to the scheme, but with a plethora of injuries, he may be promoted to the active roster sooner than later.

Report: Ex-Giants DT Damon Harrison signing with the Seahawks’ practice squad

Former New York Giants DT Damon Harrison is being signed to the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad.

In February, veteran defensive tackle Damon Harrison was released by the Detroit Lions and it appeared as if retirement was a realistic possibility. However, things have changed for ‘Snacks’ and he was back on the workout circuit this week.

That workout tour ended abruptly on Wednesday as Harrison agreed to sign with the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad, reports NFL Network’s Adam Schefter.

Harrison was slated to visit the Green Bay Packers later this week, but Seattle made sure he didn’t leave without a deal.

Originally signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent out of William Penn in 2012, Harrison rapidly developed into one of the league’s best interior defensive linemen. In 2016, he signed as a free agent with the New York Giants and remained with the team until being traded to Detroit in 2018.

Harrison recently acknowledged that leaving New York was one of his biggest regrets in life.

Although Harrison is being signed to Seattle’s practice squad, it’s unlikely he’ll remain there. Once he gets a little practice in and returns to football shape, expectations are that he’ll be promoted to the Seahawks’ 53-man roster.

Report: DL Damon Harrison to visit Packers on Wednesday

The Packers could get some veteran defensive line help going into the bye week.

The Green Bay Packers might have a chance to add some veteran help for the defensive line going into the bye week.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, free agent defensive lineman Damon “Snacks” Harrison is set to visit the Packers on Wednesday.

Harrison, 31, played the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions. He is currently visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s possible Harrison could sign with the Seahawks before visiting the Packers, but it’s equally possible the veteran defender wants to visit both teams before making a decision on a new team for 2020.

The Packers could use the help up front on defense, although Kenny Clark – who has missed the last three games – will likely return following the bye. Harrison could give the Packers a more reliable run-stuffing option to team with Clark.

Harrison, now 31, previously played for Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine in New York with the Jets.

Defensive tackle Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison to visit Seahawks next week

Free-agent defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison is scheduled to visit the Seattle Seahawks next week for a potential tryout.

The Seattle Seahawks are always busy trying to improve their roster, holding visits and tryouts whenever possible. Next week, Seattle will be hosting defensive tackle Damon Harrison.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news Thursday morning.

“Former NFL All-Pro DT Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison, who openly contemplated retirement last year, has decided to play this season and is scheduled to visit next week with the Seahawks, per source,” Schefter tweeted. “The 31-year-old Harrison also has received interest from the Bears, Packers and Bengals.”

Harrison originally signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2012 out of William Penn University. He also spent time with the Giants and Lions.

Per Schefter, the Bears, Packers and Bengals may also be courting Harrison’s services.
