Instant analysis: Patriots get embarrassed by Cowboys in 38-3 blowout loss

This one is going to sting for a bit…

After defeating the New York Jets on the road last week, there was hope that the New England Patriots could upset the Dallas Cowboys for their biggest victory of the season. It took only a quarter of play before those dreams were quickly revealed as a nightmare.

The Patriots got pummeled in historic fashion by a Cowboys team looking to make a statement after an embarrassing loss of their own in Week 3 to the Arizona Cardinals.

Mac Jones turned the ball over three times, and the defense continued getting decimated with injuries. Rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who earned honors for Rookie Defensive Player of the Month in September, left the field with a shoulder injury and never returned.

Linebacker Matthew Judon and safety Jabrill Peppers were also injured in the game.

Meanwhile, Jones was benched in the third quarter after a historically bad half in the Bill Belichick era. But even with Bailey Zappe under center, the Patriots still couldn’t move the ball on offense. The team imploded in the spotlight as they have typically done over the last three years.

The injuries make the situation even more daunting for the Patriots. For the first three games, they had a defense that could stand with the best in the NFL. Now, they might have more backups than starters taking the field in next week’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

A historically bad game could turn into a historically bad season for Belichick and company.

NFL Week 16 Power Rankings: Bills, 49ers, Chiefs the teams to beat

The Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, and Kansas City Chiefs topped the Touchdown Wire NFL power rankings to conclude Week 16.

Although there were three games to go in the NFL season, Week 16 showed that the last eight quarters of the 2022 campaign are going to be as meaningful as anything that happened to this point.

Technically, the Buffalo Bills aren’t the No. 1 seed in the AFC yet, but they are playing like the best team in the NFL.

The San Francisco 49ers continue to stack wins with Brock Purdy, and the Kansas City Chiefs are doing what they do in December: win.

The New England Patriots continue to slide, and Washington is on thin ice.

Here are the power rankings to wrap up Week 16.

Cowboys form their own Covid bubble ahead of Friday’s 1st practice

The Dallas Cowboys will be suggesting to their players to stay at the Omni Hotel located right outside The Star to create their own bubble.

The Dallas Cowboys already know it’s going to be an unprecedented season in 2020 because of the Covid-19 global pandemic. There are necessary protocols in place put in by the NFLPA and NFL to insure that all teams are as safe as possible during these tough times.

The Cowboys are going one step further. The team has strongly recommended that the players stay and form their own bubble of sorts to increase their odds of a relatively healthy training camp.

The five-star Omni Hotel which is located right next to The Star practice facility will become the new home of players, coaches and staff. It has not been deemed mandatory but heavily suggested starting Wednesday of this week.

The New Orleans Saints have implemented a similar scenario for their team and it looks like the Cowboys are piggybacking off that idea. Since the beginning of training camp, the Cowboys have had two players test positive for Covid-19 in wide receiver Jon’Vae Johnson and cornerback Saivion Smith. Both Smith and Johnson have already cleared the necessary testing protocols and have rejoined the 80-man roster.
