Four-star athlete Derrick McFall sets commitment date, names Colorado to final three

Four-star athlete Derrick McFall is down to three Pac-12 schools and has set a commitment date

Four-star prospect Derrick McFall is just about ready to announce his college commitment, revealing on Thursday that he’ll give his pledge to either Colorado, Washington or UCLA on Aug. 4, per Chris Simmons of On3.

The class of 2024 running back/slot receiver told On3 that those three schools have stayed the most loyal to him throughout his recruiting process. In regard to Colorado, McFall said that he’s been particularly impressed with the NFL-esque culture that head coach Deion Sanders is building.

“They’ve got Prime Time there and treat it like an NFL program,” McFall told On3. “That’s how you prepare for the NFL and I like the offense they run. I saw the spring game and I like how they use their backs.”

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, the Pac-12-bound McFall is the No. 48 ranked prospect in Texas and the No. 25 athlete for 2024 (247Sports).

McFall received an offer from the Buffs in May of last year.

Georgia prospect Micah Welch is the lone running back committed to Colorado’s eight-member 2024 class.

Arden Walker attempting to sway five-star WR Ryan Wingo to Boulder

Arden Walker is attempting to sway one of the nation’s top 2024 WRs to Colorado

Coaches are not the only people who play a major role in helping college programs land top high school recruits. Current student-athletes, too, can have a similarly large impact, especially in today’s age of social media.

After two seasons at Missouri, former Cherry Creek High School DL Arden Walker joined his home-state CU Buffs this offseason and is now attempting to sway one of the nation’s top 2024 recruits, five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo, to Boulder.

Walker tagged Wingo in a tweet on Thursday and wrote “lemme holla at you… I think you’ll like it here.” Wingo liked the tweet but did not respond, at least publically.

Wingo hails from St. Louis, Missouri, so it’s possible that the two had a prior relationship while Walker was with the Tigers.

Both Colorado and Jackson State offered Wingo last summer and the No. 7 ranked 2024 prospect (per 247Sports) visited with the Buffs in January.

Late last month, Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports gave Wingo a crystal ball prediction to commit to Texas, however.

Colorado sees four-star recruit Kylan Fox commit to UCF

Colorado recruit Kylan Fox announced his pledge to UCF

For the second time in less than a month, Colorado watched a prized 2024 recruit commit to UCF.

On this occasion, it was four-star tight end Kylan Fox who announced his pledge to the Knights early Tuesday afternoon. The Georgia prospect had taken an unofficial visit to Boulder in January before naming Colorado to his top six along with Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida State and UCF.

Class of 2024 running back Stacy Gage, a four-star prospect who was recently at Folsom Field for the Buffs’ spring game, also included Colorado in his top five before choosing UCF on June 10.

However, neither Gage nor Fox has signed their letter of intent yet, so there remains at least some hope for CU head coach Deion Sanders to flip.

UCF, along with Cincinnati, Houston and BYU, officially joined the Big 12 on Saturday, becoming the youngest Power Five school in the process.

Colorado target D’antre Robinson reveals top 10, commitment date

Colorado target D’antre Robinson is less than three weeks away from announcing his college commitment

Class of 2024 four-star DL D’antre Robinson gave a pair of massive updates on Monday regarding his recruitment.

One of several top prospects who visited Folsom Field for the Buffs’ spring game in April, Robinson announced a commitment date of July 21 and a top 10 of Colorado, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Ohio State, Georgia, Maryland, Texas, Texas A&M and Florida.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Florida prospect is nearing his senior season at Jones High School (Orlando) as the No. 41 ranked DL nationwide, per the 247Sports Composite.

Last season, Robinson racked up an impressive 89 total tackles, 18 TFLs and nine sacks in 11 games played. He also threw in a forced fumble for good measure. With production like that, July 21 could become a monumental day for Colorado head coach Deion Sanders’ 2024 class.

Back in January, Robinson was at CU for the program’s Elite Underclassmen Weekend and vlogged the trip on his YouTube channel, Fleezy Films.

2024 EDGE Amontrae Bradford names Colorado to top eight schools

Athletic Georgia prospect Amontrae Bradford named Colorado to his top eight

Amontrae Bradford is a class of 2024 prospect from Georgia who you’re going to want to keep tabs on. The three-star EDGE is listed at 6-foot-5 and if he can continue adding weight to his 225-pound frame, he could become a dominant defender at the college level.

His athleticism is elite, too — just check out his junior year film.

On Thursday, Colorado received the encouraging news that Bradford included the Buffs in his top eight, along with Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Indiana and Mississippi State.

Per 247Sports, Bradford has taken official visits to Georgia Tech, Indiana, Vanderbilt and Virginia with another one at Kentucky scheduled for Sept. 8. There’s also a “possibility” that he checks out Colorado and Ole Miss.

Save the date: Five-star CB Charles Lester III to announce commitment in late July

Recent Colorado visitor Charles Lester III set a commitment date

It won’t be easy for Colorado to pry five-star CB Charles Lester III away from Florida State, but it’s never wise to count Deion Sanders out of a recruiting race.

Lester, who visited Boulder earlier this month, is the second-ranked class of 2024 CB and the No. 4 prospect in Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has received five 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions to land with the Seminoles and he was a recent visitor at FSU.

With his senior season at Venice High School nearing, Lester revealed on Tuesday that he’ll be announcing his college commitment on July 29. Hopefully, Lester’s June visit to Colorado was enough to make him heavily consider Coach Prime’s Buffs.

The 6-foot-1, 171-pound defensive back also plans to visit Georgia this weekend, per On3.

Four-star athlete Kam Mikell names Colorado to list of top schools

While his list of top schools isn’t exactly narrow, Colorado remains in strong standing with four-star ATH Kam Mikell

While his list is far from narrow, Colorado should be encouraged to find itself within four-star athlete Kam Mikell’s top 14 schools.

According to JGP Visuals, Mikell is down to Florida, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia and the Buffs.

Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders offered the No. 10 class of 2024 athlete (247Sports Composite) on Jan. 11.

As a junior at Statesboro High School in Georgia, Mikell put up 268 yards passing, 478 rushing and had a two-interception game in September. He was also a starting guard on the basketball team and a track sprinter.

Mikell’s name was brought up in May by Colorado QB commit Danny O’Neil when asked about the prospects he’s helping recruit to Boulder.

Updated 2024 Pac-12 recruiting class rankings following Colorado’s latest commitments

Following Colorado’s latest run of commitments, here’s where Coach Prime’s 2024 recruiting class ranks in the Pac-12

Thanks in part to a successful weekend of recruits visiting Boulder, the Buffaloes’ 2024 class subsequently grew from five commits to eight with two offensive skill players and a DL announcing their pledges.

Nationwide, Colorado’s 2024 recruiting class is now ranked No. 30 (247Sports) — four spots ahead of Nebraska, in case you were wondering. Head coach Deion Sanders also currently owns one of the deeper 2024 classes in the Pac-12 on the heels of a 2023 group that ranked No. 5 in the conference.

Including USC and UCLA, which will both be playing Big Ten football come 2024, below is an updated ranking of the Pac-12’s 2024 recruiting classes, according to 247Sports:

Colorado re-offers Broomfield OT Landen Davidson

Colorado is back in the mix for Landen Davidson, a 2024 OT from Broomfield who’s slated to visit both Nebraska and CSU this month

From recent CU Buffs signee Hank Zilinskas to 2024 Tennessee pledge Gage Ginther, the state of Colorado is quietly producing a number of high-profile offensive line prospects.

The Buffaloes and new OL coach Bill O’Boyle are now in the mix for another local product Landen Davidson, who announced on Monday that he was re-offered by Colorado. A three-star offensive tackle out of Broomfield High School, Davidson helped the Eagles secure their fourth state championship last fall and was later named first-team All-State.

Colorado, though, will be battling a pair of rival programs for Davidson’s commitment as the 6-foot-5, 305-pound tackle has official visits scheduled with Nebraska this weekend and Colorado State the following weekend.
