Alabama’s season comes to abrupt end in OT Rose Bowl loss to Michigan

Alabama’s 2023 season comes to an end after Michigan earned the overtime Rose Bowl win.

Alabama’s season comes to a crashing end in the first overtime of the College Football Playoff Rose Bowl semifinal against top-ranked Michigan. The Crimson Tide had a late lead but gave up an easy score to the Wolverines on their penultimate possession.

The final play of the game couldn’t have had a more dramatic lead up, with an injury taking place on the play before and then two consecutive time outs. However, the actual play could not have been more disappointing. Milroe fielded a bad snap, which was a common theme throughout the game, and then ran straight up the gut against this Michigan defensive front.

It didn’t work for most of the game and that didn’t change in the final play. He was stuffed and brought down almost immediately. The Wolverines stormed the field, while the Tide was forced to walk off the field with an incredible journey in the rearview.

A long offseason begins now for the program and its fans. Alabama will next take the field in a meaningful game on Aug. 31 against Western Kentucky at home in Tuscaloosa.

Jim Harbaugh: ‘[Alabama] could clear run us out of the stadium’

The Rose Bowl could get interesting fast and Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh knows what Alabama is capable of.

Alabama snuck into the College Football Playoffs as the No. 4 team and will have to face the top-ranked Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl semifinal on Jan. 1 with a national title appearance on the line. These two programs are among the strongest in the nation, but many are unsure how it will play out.

Both defenses have proven to be elite, with most questions looming over their respective offenses. Experts have tried their hand at predicting the final score, but all of them are fairly close games, regardless of which team they have winning.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh recently shared his thoughts on how the game could play out.

“Been studying Alabama, they’re really good. So good. I mean, they could clear run us out of the stadium. And we’re good, too. We’ve got the ability to really do the same to them or the other possibility is it could be one heck of a football game. And I kind of think that’s the way it’s gonna go.”

Harbaugh played it safe by basically speaking highly of both teams and mentioning every possibility of an outcome. In a sense, it’s refreshing to have a coach openly say that the other team is great and fully capable of winning in blow out fashion.

The two teams face off in Pasadena on Jan. 1 at 5:00 p.m. ET and Roll Tide Wire will continue to

ESPN predicts Alabama’s 2024 record after schedule reveal

Alabama football’s regular season schedule won’t be an easy one. Here’s how ESPN predicts the Tide to perform.

Though Alabama’s 2023 season is not yet over, the Crimson Tide’s 2024 regular season has been revealed and fans have begun looking ahead. ESPN utilized analytics to predict how all 16 teams (subscription required) will perform next season.

Alabama’s strength of schedule next season sits at 0.812, which would rank No. 3 in the 2023 season. As for a projection, the analytics predict the Tide would be favored in 11 of the 12 games on the season. If they win the games they are favored in, Alabama will finish the 2024 regular season with a record of 11-1.

“Nick Saban’s 17th Bama team will face the same number of top-20 opponents (five) as it did in the 2023 regular season, though four of them came to Tuscaloosa this fall,” writes Bill Connelly. “Only two will next year. A trip to Wisconsin could spice things up a bit, too.”

While this is all very interesting to think about, there will be an entire offseason to ponder over how Alabama will perform. For now, the focus remains on the upcoming Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal matchup against Michigan.

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s 66-10 win over Chattanooga

Grading Alabama football’s win over Chattanooga from Week 12

Alabama earned a huge win over FCS opponent, Chattanooga, in Week 12. With the Iron Bowl next week, the Crimson Tide will look to finish the season strong, and the team certainly looked the part against the Mocs at home.

The defense allowed only 10 points and a handful of chunk plays worth more than a few yards. The offense continues to develop and Jalen Milroe looks more confident every single week that goes by.

With eyes on the College Football Playoff, Alabama has to play nearly perfect football to convince the committee that the Tide deserves to be ranked inside the top four.

Before moving forward, look back to the Chattanooga game to see how Alabama graded.

Alabama football crushes Chattanooga 66-10, improves to 10-1

Alabama faced no issues against Chattanooga, winning 66-10. Now onto the Iron Bowl to finish the regular season.

Alabama football’s College Football Playoff hopes survive another week after the Crimson Tide dominated FCS opponent, Chattanooga, for a full four quarters in Tuscaloosa with a final score of 66-10.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe had another strong performance, despite only playing through two quarters. He recorded 13 completions on 16 attempts for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Ty Simpson also saw serious action, as did Tre freshman Dylan Lonergan.

Wide receiver Jermaine Burton proved why he’s the Tide’s No. 1 pass catcher, as he reeled in three passes for a total of 105 yards and a single touchdown.

The Kevin Steele-led defense held its own, only allowing two scores and a few chunk plays worth more than a handful of yards.

Alabama now looks ahead to next week’s Iron Bowl matchup on the road against Auburn.

Alabama Football Fan Rooting Guide: 5 teams the Tide need to win

Here are 5 teams that Alabama fans should be rooting for during the Week 12 slate of College Football action

Alabama football has not been able to get out of the No. 8 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. It has become clear the CFP Committee values the head-to-head win the Longhorns have over the Crimson Tide. So, what can Alabama do to move up?

It’s not likely that a win by any margin over Chattanooga at home this week will boost the Tide’s playoff hopes. However, if a few teams that currently rank ahead of Alabama lose, space could be created that allows for some significant movement.

Here are five teams that Tide fans should root for this week, as their wins could help Alabama.

Alabama takes down Kentucky 49-21, wins SEC West

Alabama has no issues defeating Kentucky on the road. The Crimson Tide has booked a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship.

On the back of another stellar performance from quarterback Jalen Milroe, Alabama earned a huge win on the road against SEC East foe, Kentucky, with a final score of 49-21.

With this win, the Crimson Tide are crowned the SEC West champions and have booked a trip to Atlanta for the conference championship game.

To start the game, Alabama scored 21 unanswered points. The Wildcats ultimately found the end zone a few times, but it wasn’t close to being enough to stay competitive.

Heading into this matchup, head coach Nick Saban admitted this was probably the most banged up the team has been all year. Notably missing was star wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who was out with an illness.

Burton’s absence on the field wasn’t felt in the box score, as Milroe completed 15 passes on 22 attempts for 234 yards, three passing touchdowns and an interception. He also added on 36 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Alabama now looks ahead to Week 12, when the Crimson Tide return home to face Chattanooga.
