Alabama baseball wins first game of doubleheader vs. Wright State in dramatic fashion

Alabama baseball wins the first game of their Saturday doubleheader in extra innings with a deep drive to lft with the bases loaded.

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team is ranked No. 22 in the nation, according to Baseball America, and won their first contest of a three-game series against Wright State at home.

Alabama will finish the series by playing the two remaining games in a doubleheader.

The first game was a back and forth that led to extra innings with the game tied at seven.

In the eleventh inning, sophomore William Hamiter drove in the game-winning run with a deep drive to left field that nearly went over the wall for a grand slam. Instead, the runner from third ran home and got the job done.

Alabama baseball moves up in latest Baseball America top-25

Alabama baseball swept McNeese State in their opening series, and they are now on the rise in the rankings after entered ranked No. 25.

Head coach Brad Bohannon and his 2021 Alabama baseball squad got the sweep in their season-opening series against McNeese State at home. They outscored the Cowboys through three games with a combined 23 runs to 14.

Because of their weekend success, the Crimson Tide have moved up Baseball America’s latest top-25 rankings.

Alabama entered the season ranked No. 25, but is now No. 22.

There are still some games left to play before the team gets to their conference schedule. They will next face off in a one-game contest on the road against Jacksonville State.

The upcoming conference schedule will be daunting for Alabama. In the latest rankings, there are eight SEC teams in the top 25, five of which reside in the top 10.

Alabama baseball has won game No. 2 on the season, this time with a walk-off home run in the the bottom of the ninth inning.

Alabama baseball won their opening day matchup against McNeese State yesterday with a final score of 6-10. Today, the game was much closer, but ended with an exclamation point.

The contest was low-scoring all the way through, until McNeese went up 3-0 by the sixth inning.

The Brad Bohannon-led Crimson Tide squad rallied back fast, as they tied the game in the bottom of the eigth inning.

With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, sophomore infielder Zane Denton stepped up to the plate and delivered big time.

The switch hitter pulled a pitch deep into right field that sailed over the wall to give Alabama the walk-off win.

The Crimson Tide won with a final score of 3-4.

Alabama baseball wins season opener by scoring double digits

Alabama baseball picks up where they left off from last season, as the Crimson Tide wins their opening day game by scoring double digits.

Crimson Tide baseball began their season today ranked as the No. 25 team in the nation. They made it clear that they were looking to move up the ranks as they took down McNeese State 10-6 on opening day.

The scoring started early for Alabama. Five runs by the fifth inning for the Crimson Tide put them up over the scoreless Cowboys.

For the remaining four innings, the two teams traded punches with McNeese racking up six runs in and Alabama adding five more.

Sophomore pitcher Connor Prielipp, who was recently ranked as the No. 4 best pitcher in all of college baseball, pitched a total of five innings, only allowing four hits and striking out eight. Not a single walk or earned run allowed.

The Crimson Tide managed to hit two over the fence, as both Sam Prayto and Peyton Wilson hit home runs.

Alabama will look to take the series tomorrow as they face off against McNeese State for the second contest of the three-game series.

Alabama’s Opening Day starter ranked as top 5 college pitcher in the country

Alabama baseball sophomore pitcher Connor Prielipp will be the Crimson Tide’s Opening Day starter. He has been ranked as a top 5 pitcher.

Alabama baseball is set to begin a new season, and after a hot start to the 2020 season that was cut short due to COVID, the team is back and ready to pick up where they left off.

The 2021 Crimson Tide baseball season will begin on Friday, Feb. 19 with a three-game series at home against McNeese State, where sophomore pitcher Connor Prielipp will get the Opening Day start on the mound.

“Connor got off to a great start last year as a freshman and has really separated himself from the rest of the pack,” said head coach Brad Bohannon. “I don’t have any doubt that he’ll give us a great start on Friday and give us a chance to win.”

Prielipp, a 6-foot-3 lefty from Wisconin, was named National Freshman Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball News after a 2020 freshman season that featured 21 innings, strikeout 35, walk six, only give up 5 hits and four wins.

Baseball America ranks Alabama as the No. 25 team in the nation heading into the season, and they have also announced their top-five pitchers prior to the season beginning – Prielipp comes in at No. 4.

An interesting note: All five of the pitchers are from SEC programs, which should make for a very competitive conference schedule.

The Brad Bohannon led Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team will enter the 2021 season with low expectations according to the rest of the SEC.

The 2020 Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team was off to a hot start, one of the best in the team’s history. Unfortunately the pandemic hit, forcing spring sports to be canceled.

Alabama heads into the 2021 season with minimal roster losses and plenty of great additions.

Brad Bohannon is entering season No. 4 with the Crimson Tide and the future looks promising, as Baseball America named Alabama No. 25 in the country.

The SEC baseball coaches poll has been released, and Alabama sits at the bottom of the SEC West.
