Corey Perry continued to have the worst Stanley Cup Final luck and NHL fans had so many jokes

Corey Perry’s poor Stanley Cup Final luck continued after Monday’s loss.

Corey Perry probably has the worst Stanley Cup Final luck in existence.

On Monday, the Edmonton Oilers fell to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, their hopes dashed of completing the reverse sweep. The loss means Canada’s Stanley Cup drought continues and so does Perry’s.

In November 2023, the Chicago Blackhawks released Perry from his contract with the team due to undisclosed circumstances. Perry then signed with the Oilers in January 2024 and was part of the team through its Stanley Cup run. However, this hasn’t been the first time Perry has gone to the Stanley Cup Final and lost.

Over the last five seasons, Perry has been to four Stanley Cup Finals … and lost all four of them.

Yes really, you read that right. Since 2020, Perry has been part of the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and now the Oilers and lost in the Final in each year.

That is some incredibly tragic luck. NHL fans, however, had a field day with the news that Perry’s poor Stanley Cup luck continued into 2024.

Connor McDavid made an absolutely unbelievable pass to set up a Corey Perry Game 5 Oilers goal

Connor McDavid isn’t of this world.

Edmonton Oilers superstar center Connor McDavid made one of the sharpest moves of his career on Tuesday night to set up teammate Corey Perry for a goal during Game 5 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.

McDavid navigated staunch defense from the Florida Panthers to weave his way down the ice and set up Perry for the goal with an absolutely outrageous assist in front of the net.

When people talk about McDavid as an all-time talent down the road, this is one of the plays that’s going to come up in his career highlight reel.

It just shows what a generational distributor of the puck he is outside of his excellent scoring prowess.

For Edmonton fans, this is the kind of play you’ll want plenty more of in the years to come.

Blackhawks suddenly release Corey Perry from contract: Everything we know so far

Corey Perry is no longer a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Here’s everything we know about the surprising announcement.

The Chicago Blackhawks have put Corey Perry on waivers with the intent to terminate his contract.

On Tuesday, the Blackhawks made the sudden decision to place Perry on waivers to cut him from his one-year, $4 million contract signed in late June. Perry played just 16 games with the Blackhawks this season, scoring four goals and nine points during that time.

The decision comes days after the 38-year-old forward stepped away from the team for an unknown reason late last week.

There’s still a lot unknown about Perry’s sudden termination from the team, but here’s what we do know so far about this unfolding story in Chicago.

Lightning’s Corey Perry lost his third straight Stanley Cup Final and NHL fans roasted the notorious villain

Perry completed a three-peat … of Stanley Cup Final losses.

With their defeat to the Colorado Avalanche and Cale Makar in the Stanley Cup Final, it’s understandable if the Tampa Bay Lightning are feeling a bit of a painful sting. To come this far, to get this close, and to put in all that effort throughout a two-month postseason only to fall short of a three-peat is never easy to process on an emotional level.

It might be even harder to process for Corey Perry. The veteran winger joined the Lightning after losing to Tampa Bay in the previous two Stanley Cup Finals while with the Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars, respectively. He’s the first player in NHL history to lose in the Stanley Cup Final in three straight years with three different teams.

Under normal circumstances, people might feel more sympathy for Perry. But, thanks to a history of underhanded, dirty play throughout his 17-year career, the 37-year-old hasn’t made many friends. Perry might have his one Cup victory with the Ducks in 2007, but many NHL fans definitely don’t want to see him win one ever again.

Hockey Twitter celebrated Perry’s latest postseason demise accordingly.
