4-star LSU DL target sets commitment date

The Tigers will hope to pull the Jacksonville prospect away from Florida and Georgia.

We’re just over a week out from early signing day, but LSU will have to wait just a bit longer to find out where one of its top remaining targets is heading.

Four-star Westside (Jacksonville, Fla.) defensive lineman [autotag]Jordan Hall[/autotag] will announce his decision on Dec. 22. The 6-foot-4.5, 300-pound pass-rushing interior lineman is set to choose between Florida, Georgia, Alabama and LSU.

Hall is ranked as the No. 117 overall player and No. 16 defensive lineman in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He released a top-five at the beginning of November but has since cut Ohio State from that list.

Hall has several recent Crystal Ball projections to Georgia, and the Bulldogs are given an 85.6% chance to land him, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

LSU has recently lost a pair of defensive line commitments in the 2023 class in [autotag]Darron Reed[/autotag], who flipped to Auburn, and [autotag]Joshua Mickens[/autotag]. Adding a player like Hall would be a major get for Kelly, though that would be a fairly big surprise at this point.

4-star DL sets decision date during early signing period, Florida in top 4

One of Florida’s top-remaining undecided targets has set a decision date and says he’s locked in a silent commitment.

Four-star Westside (Jacksonville, Florida) defensive lineman [autotag]Jordan Hall[/autotag] knows where he’ll be playing college ball, but he’s not announcing his decision until Dec. 22, according to On3.

Hall has narrowed things down to four programs publicly: Florida, Alabama, Georgia and LSU. He’s already locked in with one of those teams but will be holding out until the early signing period kicks off to let the world know. The timing of this decision might hint at Georgia being out of the race ā€” the Bulldogs will get his final official visit over the Dec. 9 weekend ā€” but UGA currently leads the On3 recruiting prediction machine with an overwhelming 85.6% chance to land Hall.

Florida appears to be the next best-positioned team to earn a commitment after hosting Hall nearly 10 times over the past year and a half. Most recently, the Gators got Hall on campus for an official visit the weekend of Dec. 2. That trip coincides with Hall’s declaration of being decided, but things are too up in the air for Florida to head into the early signing period confidently on this one.

Still, whichever team has secured a pledge from Hall, has earned all of his respect.

ā€œIt feels like home there. I feel like I can grow, be myself, and not have to worry about too much,ā€ he said. ā€œI donā€™t have to be ā€˜Big Baby.ā€™ Iā€™m just Jordan there. I feel I can grow and develop. On the D-line there, with the coaches, I feel like Iā€™ll be one of the guys to be a first-round pick honestly.”

Wherever Hall lands, Florida will have to scheme for him in the near future. He’s an SEC talent that’s wanted by the very best. Beating Georgia out for him would be a significant win for Billy Napier and Co.

Hall is the No. 58 overall prospect in the class of 2023 regardless of position, according to the On3 consensus. He ranks seventh among defensive linemen in the class and 13th in the state Florida. On3’s individual rankings are even more bullish on Hall, ranking him at No. 29 nationally and No.4 among those at his position.

Gators make the cut for this 2024 4-star DB, January decision date set

The Florida Gators are one of seven teams left in the race for 2024 four-star defensive back Peyton Woodyard, who will make his commitment in early 2023.

The Gators are one of seven teams left in the recruiting race for 2024 four-star defensive back [autotag]Peyton Woodyard[/autotag] out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California, according to 247Sports.

Florida made the cut on Sunday along with Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and USC. Woodyard said that he’ll be focusing on those programs moving forward and that he’ll be deciding among them on Jan. 7 at the All-American Bowl.

Although he hasn’t been to the Swamp just yet, Woodyard has a favorable impression of UF and is high on the new coaching staff despite a 6-6 finish to the season.

ā€œFlorida is the one school I havenā€™t been to yet but Iā€™m going to visit when our season is over. Iā€™ve heard great things and I know Iā€™ll like it there.Ā Patrick ToneyĀ is a great coach and they run the same defense we do here at Bosco. Iā€™ve had great conversations with coach Napier as well and I think I would fit in well there.ā€

Woodyard wants to be able to focus on his senior year, which explains the early commitment, but most who follow high school recruiting know that the phone calls and texts don’t stop until the pen is put to paper. If Florida can get him on campus over the next few months, it could end up adding an elite defensive back to the class of 2024.

Woodyard is ranked No. 29 overall on the 247Sports composite and No. 2 among safeties in the class. The On3 consensus has him a bit lower at No. 34 nationally, but he still holds the No. 2 spot among those at his position.

2024 four-star LSU target announced his commitment date

Alpharetta, Georgia, receiver Debron Gatling will commit on Dec. 11.

[autotag]Debron Gatling[/autotag] is a 2024, four-star, 6-foot-2, 175-pound, wide receiver from Alpharetta, Georgia, where he plays for Milton High School.

Gatling recently released his top eight schools consisting of LSU, Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M. He has now announced his commitment date and will make his decision public on Dec. 11.

His commitment would be a very nice Christmas present for [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his staff. The commitment comes a little over a week after LSU plays the Georgia Bulldogs for the SEC Championship in Atlanta, and a little less than two weeks before [autotag]Desmond Ricks[/autotag] announces his commitment.

December could be a huge month for LSU football in many ways, but the Tigers still have to get through the Texas A&M Aggies this Saturday in College Station.

Five-star point guard set to decide between LSU, several others

Woodland Hills, California, prospect AJ Johnson will announce his commitment Monday. He has visited LSU and Texas.

The Tigers have a pair of basketball commits in the 2023 class in forward [autotag]Corey Chest[/autotag] and guard [autotag]Mike Williams[/autotag], but they will hope to add an elite player to that group.

Five-star point guard [autotag]AJ Johnson[/autotag] is set to announce his decision on Monday at noon CT. Johnson is a 6-foot-5, 170-pound player from Southern California Acadamey in Woodland Hills, California, and he ranks as the No. 14 player on the 247Sports Composite.

On3’s composite rankings list him at No. 16 nationally.

A combo guard who primarily plays the point, Johnson has already taken official visits to Texas and LSU, and he has also received interest from programs such as NC State, Louisville and USC. The Longhorns are currently seen as a heavy favorite, being given a 93.2% chance to land him.

Coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] signed the No. 16 recruiting class in the country last cycle. His haul in 2023 currently ranks just 45th, but adding a player like Johnson could certainly change that.

5-star quarterback, LSU target sets commitment date

The Tigers will hope to pull one of the top passers in 2024 in DJ Lagway, though they already have one blue-chip passer commit in that cycle.

[autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] is a 2024 five-star, 6-foot-2, 225-pound quarterback from Willis, Texas, where he plays for Willis High School.

He started in eight games for the Willis Wildkats as he threw for 2,081 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. The Wildkats finished their season 5-5 and failed to make the playoffs.

Lagway is set to announce his decision on Dec. 7. He is regarded as the No. 1 quarterback in the state of Texas by multiple recruiting sites, and he has narrowed his list to his final ten schools. LSU joins SEC foes Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, FloridaĀ and Texas A&M as well as USC, Oklahoma, ClemsonĀ and Baylor.

Lagway has no crystal ball prediction at this time but according to On3, Florida is a 72% favorite to land the very talented quarterback. The LSU Tigers currently have seven commits for the 2024 recruiting class, a class that ranks as the No. 2 class in the country.

LSU already has one quarterback committed for that class in four-star quarterback [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag].

Florida’s top 2024 quarterback target’s commitment date set

Florida’s top quarterback target, DJ Lagway, is moving up his commitment date, and the Gators are hopeful they’ve done enough to land the elite talent.

Florida’s top quarterback target in the class of 2024, [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag], will announce his college commitment on Dec. 7, according to a post he sent out on Twitter on Tuesday.

Florida has been considered the team to beat for some time now in this race, and Lagway’s accelerated timeline seems to favor the Gators. The On3 recruiting prediction machine currently gives Florida 72.3% odds to land the Willis, Texas native.

Lagway has made his way to Florida twice this season, once for the Kentucky game and again for the LSU game. The staff, and even Lagway himself, haven’t shied away from comparisons to Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, and he’s admitted that UF is making him feel like a priority.

All the puzzle pieces are there for a Lagway commitment to Florida, but college football recruiting isn’t always so simple. Just look at 2023 quarterback Jaden Rashada, who recently flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida. Time changes things and nothing is guaranteed until the pen is put to paper.

Still, Lagway’s early commitment signals a willingness to lead his class and he will likely be recruiting more from the class of 2024 to play with him wherever he decides.

The 247Sports composite ranks Lagway at No. 24 overall in the class of 2024 and at No. 4 among quarterbacks in the class. On3 has him at No. 17 nationally and at No. 4 among quarterbacks, but he has yet to receive the five-star designation. That should come during his senior year, though.

Blue-chip LSU target has made decision, will announce commitment Thursday

One of the Tigers’ top remaining prospects, offensive tackle DJ Chester, is coming off the board this week.

As we enter the final month of the 2022 regular season, early signing day is fast approaching.

LSU already has a top-10 class, but it’s hoping for even better as it remains in the running for a number of talented, uncommitted prospects. One of them, four-star offensive tackle [autotag]DJ Chester[/autotag], is set to announce his decision this week.

The McDonough, Georgia, native plays for Eagles Landing Christian Academy, and after an official visit to Ann Arbor for Michigan’s win over rival Michigan State, Chester is ready to make his decision.

He will announce his commitment on Thursday around 8:30 a.m. CT and will choose between a top six that includes LSU, Florida State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Auburn and Florida A&M. Chester told On3 that he is “at peace” with his decision.

The Tigers have two Crystal Ball projections for Chester from 247Sports ā€” which ranks him as the No. 13 offensive tackle and No. 138 overall player. LSU is also a heavy favorite according to On3, which has a 95.4% chance of landing him.

If the Tigers can land Chester, it would give them four offensive line commits in the class as he would join [autotag]Zalance Heard[/autotag], [autotag]Tyree Adams[/autotag] and [autotag]Paul Mubenga[/autotag].

5-star quarterback prospect to choose between LSU, Alabama and Georgia on Wednesday

Carlsbad (Calif.) QB Julian Sayin will choose between the three SEC programs on ESPN at 3:45 CT.

LSU is off to a nice start on the recruiting trail in 2024, and it could get a massive boost this week.

Five-star Carlsbad, California, quarterback [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag] will announce his college decision on Wednesday, which will be aired on ESPN’s College Football Live at 3:45 p.m. CT. The 6-foot-1 passer has narrowed his list of schools down to Alabama and Georgia, as well as the Tigers.

Sayin is the No. 2 quarterback and No. 14 overall prospect in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Crimson Tide are currently seen as the favorite, and Nick Saban’s team received four Crystal Ball projections on Sunday and Monday.

He had recently visited Tuscaloosa but also took unofficial visits to Baton Rouge in June and again on Sept. 25. ‘Bama is also a heavy favorite per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at 71.7%, followed by the Bulldogs (13.1%) and LSU (9.5%).

Even if coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] misses on Sayin, LSU has other elite quarterback options in 2024. It has also heavily recruited five-star quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] and [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag], though both seem to be trending elsewhere.

LSU’s five-man 2024 class currently ranks as the fourth-best in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite.

LSU cornerback target set to announce commitment Friday

The Tigers are one of five finalists for Kaleb Beasley.

[autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag] is a six-foot, 179-pound cornerback from Nashville, Tennessee, where he stars for Lipscomb Academy.

The Mustangs are 8-0 this season and have a marquee win over Alabama 7A powerhouse, Thompson. Lipscomb Academy won the 2A state championship in Tennessee last year and they look like they are well on their way to running it back.

Recently, Beasley announced that he was going to make his college decision this Friday. He is choosing between five different schools as LSU, Tennessee, Notre Dame, OklahomaĀ and Clemson all made the cut for the talented cornerback. Tennessee is crystal balled to be the winner in this recruitment race by 247Sports, and the Vols are also the favorite per On3.

Nothing is set in stone yet, though, and [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is known to have a few tricks up his sleeve and he has been able to flip a few recruits that were favored to go elsewhere.
